Nightshade-
"Don't look at me like that," I said to Oren. He turned away bitterly. "Still indecisive?" I asked.
"What does it look like?" He grumbled.
I rolled my silvery eyes. "No need to snap. It was only a question."
"Well it's a little obvious, isn't it?"
I scowled at him. "Just because you're older doesn't mean you can talk to me like that."
"Please. I'm over a hundred years older than you are. I have every right in the world."
Sometimes my brother's stubborn attitude made me want to smack him, but I never did. I wasn't nearly as immature as I was when we were young. I exhaled deeply and a thin black smoke billowed out of my mouth as I did so.
"No you don't," I said, and walked up to him. "Now. You need to stop beating about the bush. I know it's a big responsibility, but as the oldest, it's one you need to be taking seriously. It's an honor you should be glad to accept."
"Then why don't you do it?" He snapped.
I looked at him sternly. "You know I can't. Maybe being the eldest isn't such a good thing after all?"
"Hmph." He grunted sarcastically.
I put an arm around his shoulder. "I'm not asking you to say right now. But tensions between the humans and dragons are growing worse and worse."
His cold blue eyes moved to my face. They were clouded with sadness.
