mother relives it
the memories of the glee
sheltered in her heart
they told me to never give up on my dreams.

so i took another nap

sheltered in her heart
burns the dreams of her childhood:
hope for the future

Hey @ForeverYoung299, great poem! ^-^

The point of this thread is to do an endless chain of haikus, though, which have a very specific format. They are three lines that go:

Five syllables
Seven syllables
Five syllables

So an example from above:

shattering concrete
with sprouting dandelions:
beauty in harshness

If you break it up by syllables (I'm going to put each syllable in [brackets]) you'll see:

[shat] [ter] [ing] [con] [crete]
[with] [sprout] [ing] [dan] [de] [li] [ons]:
[beau] [ty] [in] [harsh] [ness]

See how there are distinctly 5 syllables in the first line, then 7 in the second, and 5 in the third? I find https://syllablecounter.net/ to be suuuuuper helpful when I'm writing haikus so maybe it'll help you too! ^^

I just need some time
to process my emotions
and feel whole again

i want to feel whole -
i don't know how to unlearn

more than the too-sweet cupcakes,
I crave happiness

the generous trees
can't really be called that as
they give oxygen

What is a poet? An unhappy person who hides deep anguish in his heart, but whose lips are so formed that when the sigh and cry pass through them, it sounds like lovely music.
