**How funny I just realized why the name Larinda seemed so familiar. In a previous storybook i was in I had two characters, Larella and Raye. xD I adore this book so far (: I'm going to doodle a ball scene of Larinda and Jared just because, I want to >w< I have an idea I want to try lol. Hope you don't mind Larinda saying yes to jared xD**

Jared

"Larinda, are you interested in going to the memorial ball with a guy such as i? If so, may I help find a beautiful ball gown for my lady, and if not I may just have to resort to begging at your feet." I asked, my voice caked with sincerity. She twirled her silver streaked hair and positioned her eyes in a thoughtful sort of way.

"I suppose but, perhaps you should beg just to be sure." She let out a giggle, and added, "Just kidding, Of course I'll go with a man such as you." She motioned for me to follow. We went into a gown store, and though all the girls were droollng at me I could only focus on one. Larinda. It was the only name that floated in my head, she was examining all the dresses.

She tried on about three and I found the one i liked at number two, it was silver and flowy. It caught everything gorgeous about her, figure, hair, eyes, and the best one, her personality.

i like this dress
and this mask
ooohhhhh and her hair, i picture it looking amazingggg!

"My favorite dress was the second one you tried" I suggested. She smiled and nodded her head, making her purchase.

if you don't like the outfit go ahead and make your own as a surprise. (:

Vincent

The door knocked loudly, the noise amplified as if an alarm through the castle doors. Vincent sighed. Who was calling on him at this time of night? And he was starting to enjoy this empty pit of mixed feelings. This room was going to turn into turmoil and he wouldn't be there to experience it. He did not show any disappointment. He just balefully stood up and strode to the door and turned to look at them over his shoulder.

"I have business to pertain to. I hope that you three will keep up this pleasant converstaion as I am gone. I will be back sure enough." Vincent shifted through the door and with a light snapped he poofed into the shadows of the direlict castle. He crept around the side through the brambles, laughing lightly to himself. Who ever this person was, they would get a slight surprise.

It was then that Vincent ran into something, falling right over it and left sprawling on the ground. Vincent scrambled up looking deshevled and furious.

"And who is there to ruin my plans?" He hissed trying to maintain his usual calm. There sitting in a random lawn chair was a man, looking horribly befuddled.

"I believe sir, that you are blocking my view of this lovely castle." The man said to Vincent's horror. He felt outraged, yet he kept his calm and looked down on the man, making sure it seemed that he himself was superior.

"Do you know just who exactly you are talking to?"

"Yep. Your that man who was just creepin through the Brat Prince's garden, which is fairly lovely by the way." Actually it was just overgrown thorn bushes that occasionally bloomed red and black roses due to power that delt in the land. But Vincent didn't dwell on this. He was blinded by the insult that this idotic man had just said. He just made fun of the King of Nightmares! Vincent fell to his knees and slammed his fist down to the ground.

"I am not the Brat Prince! I refused to be called so! You insolent fool!" Vincent said in nearly a yell.

"Oh dear! You are the Brat Prince? Sorry Lord Brat Prince. I never meant to insult you. But I am kind of disappointed. I thought you would have been taller."

"You little--" Vincent began, but he calmed himself down. He would not let his anger rise against some fool. This man probably was made a dream creator by mistake. Vincent just turned on his heel and walked right up the steps of his castle to the crimson man standing there, staring at the door almost fear full. Vincent felt a pange to his heart. Sudden recognition rammed through him, leaving him with the feeling of being winded.

"Brother? How did you come back?" Vincent spoke, tears trying to let themselves go. But he would refuse to cry, not matter how joyous this moment was. William had come back, he would take control of the King of Dreams once again, and everything would be in order. Vincent felt himself grabbed the man by the shoulder.

And he turned staring bewildered at Vincent with bright blue eyes. Blue eyes. Not the rigt colour. It never would be. He felt his heart drop and he staggered back. "I am sorry, good sir. I mistook you for someone else."

It was at this moment in time that Vincent wished to be held the most, to run away into a dream and find her once more and kiss her gently, but she was gone. She refused to be with him, and she disappeared out of the human world to somewhere which was beyond him.

"I am Vincent, The King of Nightmares. How may I help you on this lovely evening?"

"Ooooh well we've got to take you shopping then" Emily said as she pulled his arm, "Come on you need a suite, what colour is she wearing?"

Leo pulled his arm back away from his sister, "Why are you so bothered?"

"Because if you get a girlfriend it means you'll be out the house and I can use your laptop more" She replied, "you see?"

"You cheeky git" He laughed, "Well she's wearing blue, same as her eyes"

"Isn't cool, you have blue eyes too" Emily said as she pulled him out of the front door.

They walked to the nearest shop called La Rouge

"Get this one!" Emily said as she pulled him up to one that she had pointed out for me when I was going to a funeral.

"Sure" Leo replied.

Ray

Vincent disappeared from the corridor, leaving the three of them eating Lilly's sugar flowers. Leslie looked sidelong at Ray, and it wasn't a look Ray entirely enjoyed having directed at him. "So." She said, "Vincent wasn't taking Lilly to the ball. And he's not taking me either. So where did you hear that he was taking Lilly, Ray?"

"Erm..." He said, scratching the back of his head, "Well, you see, the thing about that is..." Well, that didn't go according to plan... He thought. He'd just been trying to get a reaction out of Leslie, so that he could say that she had a heart, but things hadn't gone quite right, she hadn't realised he'd just made the whole thing up on the spot.

"I'm waiting, Ray." Leslie growled, tapping her foot against the carpet running the length of the corridor.

Ray looked from one girl to the other, backing towards the window, "Well, I, uh, kinda made the whole thing up to see what you'd have to say about it." He said lamely, giving Lilly a somewhat pleading look. He hurried on, "But anyway, I'll see the two of you at the ball, and thankyou for the fleur de sucre."

With that, he grinned sheepishly, apologetically at Leslie, took another step back, and seemed to trip over the sill of the open window, tumbling out of the castle, only to disappear halfway to the ground and reappear elsewhere in Somnium.

Hopefully a day will be long enough for Leslie to calm down enough to agree to dance with me.

Leslie~

I can't believe you. I thought as the idiot of a man tumbled out of the window. And such a becoming exit.

Right before Lilly was going to grab the last of the fleur de sucre, I snatched it and gobbled the sugary confection down in one bite.

"I'm in more pain than you are." I said, with my mouth full. "And now, I must go make a costume and mask for the ball which I do not have a date."

"And Ray?" Lilly asked, sarcastically.

"Oh, shut up. I won't be go with Ray to the ball in a million years." I said, defiantly.

"Is that a bet?" Lilly smirked.

I looked her straight in the eyes, confused. What was she trying to say?

"Look, if you go to the ball with Ray...." Lilly voice drifted off.

"I do agree with you, though this black one is quite marvelous too." Truth be told, I was stuck. I didn't shop for gowns often, nor did I have a person to shop with when one of those rare occasions occurred.

A debate immediately started in my head. Both were stunning but I was leaning towards the silver one; Jared seemed to like it and I trusted his insight. It would attract some attention too, perhaps awaken some minds.

"I'll go with the silver one." An attendant came and took the dress, wringing it up. I paid for it and walked out of the store. Jared was the perfect gentleman and carried my purchase for me.

“I’m not familiar with how this dance affair occurs. What next?” I asked with a hint of a blush. Not knowing things was slightly embarrassing.

I was found another nightmare. Should I change it? Hadn't I pushed my luck enough today. I heard the woman scream from the dream. I just had to take a peek. I wouldn't change too much. I smiled and entered the dream.

A woman was running and screaming. I looked behind me. Snakes. Hundreds of them, all after her. Maybe I could just get rid of a few I thought. I blocked the snakes from moving. Giving the woman a head start. But how would that help her? They would only catch her. I trapped the snakes and prevented them form moving. I could hear the womans screams fading and I knew she was no longer scared. I sighed and left the dream.

I was in my room. I realized what I had done. I had just changed another nightmare. I'd better lay low for a couple days. If I didn't control myself Vincent would find out who was doing this. He could stop me and I knew it. I'm sure he wouldn't know it was me though.

I bet he wouldn't even give me a secound glance at the ball. I smiled. He would have no way of kowing I did it. I was fine. We would go on ignoring each other, as always, and he wouldn't suspect a thing. I hoped.

"What? Do my ears deceive me? The fairest one of them all is unknown of the dancing etiquette ways? Well allow me," I said smiling, adding, "Farewell fair maiden I bid you adieu, When the sun sets tomorrow you shall find me and we shall dance the night away." I said, leaning down to kiss her hand.

Larinda's cheeks were flushed with color as she said, "As Farewell to you, I can't wait to glide across the floor." and with a wave, Larinda started home, her purchase in hand.

My smile felt bigger than a million suns, I practically ran to my house. When I got home I slumped on the couch thinking I'm too excited to sleep. But ended up falling asleep anyways.

Joshua

"Sometimes I wonder if your memory is being tainted," he rolled his eyes before stepping into the building. "You know exactly who I am, brat prince."

"Hey! Ever heard of role playing? I thought it would be fun to pretend like we were strangers, entangled in a nightmare of grief." He raised his hand to his forehead dramatically.

"Sometimes I wonder why I even bother coming back here," Joshua rolled his eyes as Vincent followed after him with a spring in his step.

"Because you cant resist me," he winked.

"I definitly can resist you," Joshua murmured. "If I didnt feel guilty every time I walk out of my house about you then I would never return."

"Oh Josh, you really are a silly fool," Vincent sat down on his throne, fingers tapping on the cool stone solemnly. "Truly the most foolhardy of all the dream creators, insulting me as you do."

"You wont hurt me," Joshua turned his back on Vincent.

"Ah this is very true," There was that maniacle laughter of his. "You're my only tie to William. His only apprentice. I would not hurt the one I indeed find revelance to the king of dreams."

"I hate it when you say I look like him," Joshua stated. "If I have to, I will change the colour of my hair and eyes so I may look even less like William."

"Ah, but you wont, my friend. You arent willing to hold onto a disguise for more then a few days before you come back," Vincent stood up again, pacing back and forth. "In fact, young Josh, I believe you wouldnt be able to leave me alone with my thoughts longer then a couple days."

"And risk all of Somnium turning into a nightmare," Joshua stated off a backhand. "You have no compassion but for William. If I must be that source, then I will, but you without passion would be the end of this world."

"Not the end, silly," Vincent stopped his pacing. "But merely the beginning I'm afraid. The beginning of all that must be done and all that is necessary to occur. Somnium had for too long been... run by human loving ninny's."

"Either way, you wont be taking throne as long as I'm around," Josh sat down on the cold floor. "And so, I will always return here and you shall never become king."

Lupus

Lupus, slightly confused, looked from one to another. The Brat Prince ... what was his name? Vincent? And ...

Lupus awaited more conversation. William! That was his name. "Well, it was a pleasure speaking with both of you, Vincent"- he adressed the prince with a bow -"and William"- another bow- "but I must take my leave."

With another bow, moving slightly backward, Lupus leapt into the trees and sprinted out, suddenly feeling as though he had enough energy to take him to China and back! Lupus was just about to reach a small garden when he heard to voices: "...to the ball tonight..."

Lupus's head perked up. T-The ball? Why, he had nothing to wear! Lupus just pounded his hand flat against his blue blazer to get any dust and dirt out, wiped off his pants then straightened his scraggly blonde hair and strode into from the trees, picking wax from his ear with his pinky. The two women looked up, and just as Lupus was about to bow and offer one his hand, they hurried away, horrified by the site of him. Lupus huffed, straightening the collar of his blazer with both hands, the same proud expression that all men wore upon rejection. He would not be phased.

"Well then! I best be off!" And he leapt into the forest again with the agility of a deer.

**Becca, don't you go around thinking that you can ruin all those nightmares. ;)

Vincent

"Either way, you wont be taking throne as long as I'm around," Josh sat down on the cold floor. "And so, I will always return here and you shall never become king."

"Oh well, that seems a pity." Vincent still had a wild grin across his face, yet his actual emotions were different. Joshua had kept coming to him, always feeling obligated to come and listen to the words the King had to say, always obligated to keep Vincent away from his own thoughts. Obligation was all it really was. There was no enjoyment for him in being here. There was nothing but the desire to leave. "I have something to ask of you though."

"Oh, and what is that?" Joshua said lightly, looking up to see the dirty sky light, gently candescent light falling down in ambled beams. If he looked close enough he could see the dirt and dust flying through the air.

"Ah, there has been some corruption in the nightmares lately. Due to out favoured King's absence, it seems the dream catchers have been tempting the devil. I will not put up with these happenings for much longer."

"I do not know what you wish of me. I do not know who this culprit is and I believe it is your problem." Joshua said, returning his gaze back to Vincent almost casually. Vincent felt himself almost feel like being electricuted as he looked into the bright crystal blue eyes that seem to mirror his own.

"I wish for you to come with me into this nightmare, and maybe then you could witness was this person has been doing. Maybe they might have been foolish enough to sign their name. I wouldn't be surprised." Vincent sneered casually, crossing his legs lightly, and ambling his hands onto his nees. He turned his head lightly to the side maintaining the strict gaze.

"I cannot do such a--"

"You can not refuse my wondrous offer." Vincent interupted with a small hand swish. "And I expect you won't have a problem with it for if you do, I might just have to kill this woman in her sleep." Vincent watched pleasantly as Joshua tensed at the sound of death. Obviously his petty nature was still intact. Vincent stood up from his thrown, black wings sprouting from his back and stretched, mirroring the formation of the wing on the throne. "You seem to be comfortable with walking dreams, but let us see how this dreamwalker stands in a nightmare."

The darkness around them deepened and Vincent stepped forward and touched Joshua lightly on his shoulder. Colors and monsters splurged around them, centaurs with blood stained axes, giant spiders running forward after their prey, large emerald green snakes slithering about, and finally twisted child dolls all swarming around them, cackling a horrifying laugh.

Vincent tenderly grabbed Joshua's arm and hooked it into his, smiling lightly, black hair seeming to shine in the darkness.

"Let us be off to a poor old woman's nightmare," Vincent frowned mockingly, "which just so happened to be cut short by a horrifying dream. Who would have wanted that to happen?" And with a few beats of his wings, they flew off into obscurity, their arms still hooked, Joshua's eyes widening.

*Lilly*

"If you go to the ball with Ray..." I said, trying to think about something that wouldn't hurt me completely, but still sound appealing to her. "I'll give you reign over the nightmares for a week."

"No way." she said nonchalantly. "You don't make them enough for that to count." She smiled a smiled that chilled me to the bone. "I'll go with Ray if you are my servant for a day."

Now, I liked Ray, but I didn't like him that much. "No." I turned on my heel and started to walk away when Leslie called to me. "Wait! You said you wanted to make a bet."

I turned to look over my shoulder at her. "Yeah, that would be nice, but I don't want to do that."

She cocked her hip and sneered at me. "Well, then, I'm not going to the ball with Ray."

I mimicked her, which I knew made her mad. "I don't care."

I turned to go when she hollered, "What's that supposed to mean? You think I won't because I think you care?"

I smiled before I turned around. She was so gullible.

"I don't care if you go with Ray." I said. "In fact, I almost wish you wouldn't."

"Why is that?" she sneered. "You want to go with him yourself?"

I sighed theatrically. "That's it. You got me." I said throwing my hands up. "Golly gee, how did you know?"

She looked at me and then poofed away, probably to go find Ray. Didn't bother me one little bit. Hell, maybe she would start to like him. Maybe if she found a guy who liked her, she wouldn't be so annoying and emotional twenty four seven.

Which got me thinking about myself. Is that what I needed to do? Find someone who really cared about me? I knew that Vincent cared, deep down, but I wanted someone who would show it. I have spent all of my life, my eternity, with no one. I was still a virgin, for goodness sake! I just wanted what everyone one else did. To love and be loved back.

With that thought filling me with new emotion, I threw myself into another nightmare.

The woman had already started it on her own, not leaving me much else to do. I was about to do something when I caught sight of a white haired girl keeping the snakes away so the woman could get away.

I flew over to her and landed beside her, scaring her.

"Hello, dream creator." I said, before pushing her out of the snakes way. As she fell to the ground, I gave the snakes great speed and made weights appear on the woman's feet, knocking her down.

The white haired dream creator looked up at me, rage filling her eyes, when suddenly, her eyes clouded with confusion. "You're...you're not Leslie. she said, her voice shaking slightly.

Thunder crashed and lightning flashed, and the wind picked up, causing my hair to fly around my face. I felt my eyes go completely black. I was sure that I looked pretty scary.

"No, I'm not Leslie, but I think I know who youare." I said.

"Who do you think I am?" she said, putting up a bravado that I could see right through.

"I think that you are the girl they call Becca." I said, and smiled when her face paled. "Oh, yes, I know all about you. You interfered with my last nightmare."

"Wait, I thought that it was Leslie's nightmare? Who are you!" she asked, having to shout over the thunder, wind, and now the woman's screams ans snakes started to crawl over her. "Oh, shut up!" I shouted at the woman. When she didn't stop, I lifted her out of the snake pile, and transformed my face to look like a half woman, half snake.

"SSSSo," I hissed, "You don't like ssnakesss?"

She started shrieking. "SSSilence!" I roared. This time she made a valiant effort to quiet herself."Now, will you be quiet if I put you up in that tree?" I asked. She guarded me worily, and then nodded weakly. I smiled cruelly. "Okay then."

She flew up onto a branch and was tied there with dead snakes. She was also gagged this time, but with cloth.

"Now, back to our little spat." I said, turning back to Becca, who had stood up by now. "I'll give you this fair warning, Becca." I said very quietly. I learned from Vincent that if I wanted people to be really afraid, be very, very quiet. "You're really quite luck. I don't give chances often, so take advantage of yours while you have it.

Why are you like this!" she shouted. "Why are you-" I cut her off by throwing her up against the tree from which the woman was still struggling. "Never come into a nightmare again." I told her. "If you happen upon one, turn back and forget about it."

"Or what?" she asked, angry now. "Will you have Leslie take care of me?" She made the remark very sarcastic.

"No. Leslie couldn't do half of the things that I do." I answered.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"That doesn't matter. What matters is that if you come into a nightmare again and screw around with it, I'll shove my foot so far up your ass that it'll be coming through your nose. That's code for, I'll do very bad things to you."

With that, I ended the nightmare, and woke up in my bed, a feeling of satisfaction making me smile.
We're all a bit mad...

**Sorry Vincent! Thanks just part of her character. She'll do this no matter what (:

Becca

The little witch! If she seriously thought I wouldn't go into another nightmare she was seriously mistaken. I ought to do it now. I smiled. I wasn't afraid of her. No matter how terrifying she thought she was. I wouldn't back down. The previous nightmare had already ended so I choose another. One I hoped she entered just so I could taught her. I quickly got rid of that thought. Taunting, no matter who it was directed at, was not a good thing. I dove into the nightmare. She what she made of that!
