**Um, *ahem* actually, Raven will be avoiding Spencer at all costs because she doesn't want to fall in love. Just thought I should point it out... and sorry for posting so much! I'm just really really really bored.**

Raven
---

We had stopped at another gas station. It had taken almost three days, but we were finally in Arizona. Was I going insane? Going on a frikin road trip with almost complete strangers?

I sighed as I pulled out my best clothes from my suitcase in the trunk. They weren't my best formal wear, but I thought they'd suffice. Then Kelly came out of the restroom and I felt like I would be wearing potato sacks. She was wearing a creme, floor length skirt and a matching blouse. She had even put her long brown hair into a ponytail.

I looked at Spencer. In his creme tux he looked that much more like his sister, and... amazing... I shook my head, furious at myself. I would NOT let myself be fooled like that again. Trying to decide how to cover up my "swoon", I let out a loud chuckle while looking at him. I could be a pretty good actor at times, considering that Kelly turned her head to see what I was alughing at. Heading to the restroom I passed him, it taking all I could muster not to step on his feet and yell "You're ruining my life!". But that would be pointlessly worthless and useless.

When I came back out Cadence was talking to a guy in a tattered red hat and pointing to a map. He mumbled something and then headed to a junky looking motercycle. We all crammed back into the car. Cadence had let Maribelle borrow one of her outfits, being almost the exact same size ((Is this right?)). The car seemed hotter than usual, probably because everyone was wearing form-fitting clothes to look good.

Here we go again...

Damien~

The girl had come up to him, asking him where Irene's place was. She wore a cute cocktail dress, with a blue sash around it. Her brother had a matching creme coloured tux, with a sky-blue tie, matching her sash.

She pointed to the map, and Damien nodded out a yes. He went to Irene all the time. He always needed help when it came to being a medium. He was so confused. He yanked off his sweaty cap, leaving the station unattended. It wasn't like anyone was going to come, anyway. That was the first person he'd had in five days, or more.

He sped away, spraying dust at the van. He didn't wait for them to catch up. He skidded into the fields of sand and bounced over brush and dunes. He needed to ask Irene desperately something. The strangest thing had happened, and he hadn't slept for days because of it.

Gary~~

when i came out of the car i almost feel to the ground. There in front of me was the picture of a dream i had had the night before. Everyone and everything was the same, down to the quarter on the large rock and plastic bag clinging to the car tire. I shrugged it off, though after i saw some one turn and follow my gaze which was on Kelly. I quickly got up and went over to the driver ( sorry forgot again).

"here" i said and handed her all the money in my wallet.

"whats this" She asked eying me.

"nothing, just paying for the trip, thought it was the least i could do for the group." i said then left her the money in her hand. It was only after that i realized i was the only one who was not dressed formally. Sense my sinking place encounter, i had lost all my luggage, which even then would have had nothing in it. I Hopped into the car and sighed, looked like i would be the odd one out, as usual.

Sense i was ten i had to be good little formal boy. And i hated it, sure sense my mom got married again i had gotten all the money i wanted. But it still sucked so i rebelled, or was just really myself. But even that did not compare to the fact that everyone around me thought of me has the idiot goofball who couldn't do two plus two. Even though i had a perfect SAT score and was a law major and medical minor in college, i was still the idiot to everyone. I was just immature, no need to peg me as the slow kid cause of that.

But i could always just shrug it off or could until now. I turned to the others. I looked at the others, i knew they thought i was an idiot, without even reading minds i knew that. Then i turned back around. I went into the gas station store and bought a six pack of bud. Then when the guy would not let me in grabbed some more cash and paid him 6x times the cost and he gave it over. Then i chugged three, i felt the change immediately. I knew this from college, when ever i had three beers i changed, i was no longer immature idiot, but i was able to use my formal manners i had learned when younger. I turned to the others and then told them i would be right back. Then I walked away from the station back to the stores in the town, he had seen a tux shop and bought one there changed then went back. He now fit in, to what his normal personality would be pissed at but his three beer self called happy.

Yes, that counts as cursing.

And so, I have to bug you... sigh...

Now I'm tired of bugging. If this were real life I could bug all night, but this is typing and does not have the same affect. Anyways, please don;t curse.

*I tried reading Tex's post. That sure was a little annoying to read... XD*

Spencer~

The boy led them through a serpentine of over sand dunes, around cacti. Spencer could barely see a thing with how fast Maribelle was going, trying to keep up with this boy. Spener, however, could've cared less if they got to Aunt Irene's. He wanted to stay with his new friends, not try to find his parents. If his Mum and Dad were saved from the shadow, they'd immediately want to move away from the menace in America, and go back to England. And he'd have to leave all his new friends as well...

Cadence had her arms pulled tight up against her chest. Her hair was pulled back at the front, and a little blue bow that matched her sash was holding it in. They hadn't worn these outfits since they were sixteen or so. They'd worn them when Cadence was at her recital.

Finally the boy skidded to a stop. Through a cloud of dust, we all strained to see what he was looking at. "Maybe its a giant killer scorpion!" Gary suggested, his voice dripping with sarcasm. But he, too, was pushing Cadence's and Spencer's heads down to see what it was.

The dust began to clear. There stood a grand old house. Victorian style. The paint was chipped, shingles had fallen off. It looked totally out of place here. It was like a tornado had picked it up and dropped it in the middle of no where.

The boy got off. He threw his helmet to the ground, and pulled his hat and sunglasses back on. He jumped over the steps and onto the porch. Then he knocked a few times. The door opened. They were all on the edge of their seats, but Cadence was already bounding out of the car, sprinting towards the door yelling, "Aunt Irene! Aunt Irene! Its us! Its us!"

Joseph

“What am I going to do?” He asked to the wind as he fingered the check in his hands. The check for a thousand dollars. “I planned my whole life around that job. Now I have to rethink it… I could travel the world… or at least the country. Or I could visit Gramps. Haven’t done that in a while.”

And with that, Joseph started to look up the cheapest plane to Arizona, finding that he could only afford one-way.

“Dang,” he said. “Well, I’m gonna have to start over. Might as well do it there.” He bought the ticket and started packing.

Kelly

Raven was afraid of love. I wasn’t. I loved the concept. But I was the one who couldn’t find it. Not yet, anyways.

We must have been going 100 miles an hour. If that had been the movies, my lips would’ve been folding backwards. Eventually, after what seemed like years (time takes longer when your life is on the line), we squeaked to a sudden stop. I could feel my eyes bugging out. Gary chuckled when he saw my face, and then said, “Maybe it was a giant scorpion!” Yep, he was the sarcastic type. How obvious. There was a huge cloud of sand and dust around the car. And with the way I felt about deserts I might have believed him.

Cadence jumped out of the car, screaming “Aunt Irene! Aunt Irene! It’s us! It’s us!” like their aunt would know who ‘us’ is. Our guide had raced into the house, pulling on his red hat and shades. As I climbed out of the car I tripped over my skirt, it magically not getting a hole. Gary raced over to pick me up from the sand.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

-----------------------------------------

Raven
---

We screeched to a stop, a dust storm swirling around us. At first I thought I was going to die, then it proved to be a normal cloud of dirt. I hesitated to get out of the car. Something didn’t feel right. It was as hot as ever, but I felt like you do the seconds before you play at a recital or something. Nervous. Really, really nervous. I never felt that way.

Kelly tripped with a loud ‘oof’ and Gary came over to pick her up. I started to climb out, seeing how everyone else was and it was unmistakably rude to wait a minute or two, no matter how you felt, to go to the house. How much was this lady going to be able to know about us?

I didn’t believe in séances. But I did know that mind reading was real. I had just done that ten minutes ago. What if she could see our pasts? WHAT IF SHE SAID THEM ALOUD??!? I’d die. Right there. Plain as day if she did that. Or I’d kill myself. I did have a Swiss Army knife in a hidden pocket on my skirt.

I cautiously walked towards the door and entered. It again took all I had not to step on… his… feet.

-----------------------------------------

Yep, that’s all I got for now. Rei, what did you picture would happen at this point? I have no idea.

I saw Kelly fall as she got out and went to help her. Apparently that was weak beer cause i was already sober, and hating the monkey suit i was in. We walked up to the door of them home but that's when i got the feeling i had seen this before. Then I remembered where, the dream, we had been attacked here in it. Then i stopped suddenly and saw raven tense up, she knew the shadows were near. I knew to and saw them first. They were slipping out under the door curling ready to attack us. That's when i made my move. I quickly bent the earth under us so we shot backward and did the reverse for the house, i knew it was stupid to do because of the energy that was all i could think of right now. I saw the others glare at me other then raven. then i pointed at the shadows and they tensed, the battle had begun.

Spencer~

He tried hard not to smile as Cadence ran towards the house, her arms flailing. The boy, whose name was Damien, was standing holding open the screen door for everyone to step in. The floorboards of the porch creaked. He looked back, taking a glance to see where Raven was. She did look sorta pretty. He tried not to admit it.

Raven's fist were balled up at her sides, her eyes closed. Her whole body was tense. Spencer was about to run back and ask what happened when he felt his whole body go numb. A cold sensation running through the veins in his body. Cadence screamed, a blood-curdling squeal.

Spencer's head whipped around, but his body would not move. Damien looked scared half-to-death. So he wasn'y leading them into a trap. That was good. Damien hurried into the house. He has just rounded the corner when his body fell from beneath him, and he landed on his butt. His head was staring at the ceiling, or so it looked like, his face pale with fear.

Spencer could do nothing at all. He felt cool fingers grasping his heart. He felt the whispering praises in his ear, as if they were his own thoughts. "Do not fear us. Let us have your body. Everything will we all right."

Damien let out a shriek. It was not an audible shriek, but his face was frozen with pain and surprise mingled together. His body was dragged back behind the wall, dissapearing. He shot Spencer one last exasperated glance before he disappeared completely.

The ground behind Spencer tumbled. Gary was doing something. Moving the earth... moving the earth! Spencer closed his eyes and thought hard. I can do this, he said, his body filled with a new determination. He waited for an effect. The ground shot him into the sky. He shielded himself from the wood that he was crashing through. And when he looked down, there was a giant whole in the roof... and shadows were seeping out of every corner of the quaint little home.
- - -
(A/N: I figured that I'd pretend that Aunt Irene looks like what happens when you first get taken over by the shadow. Here's my little description. I hope it works.)
- - -
Cadence~

Cadence had just entered the house, calling out Aunt Irene's name. But what she found was not the seemingly loving Aunt she saw in the pictures. No. A bloated figure sat back in an oversized chair, her face looked saggy and scathed. Her skin the colour of cement. Her hair was disgruntled. Her eyes blank. Like they'd been pulled from their sockets.

Cadence stumbled back. "A-Aunt Irene?" The figure rose before her, reaching its fingers out. It wanted to take her body. Cadence didn't move. Its blank gaze had her frozen in spot, as if ice was preventing her from moving any further. Her body was numbing.

The figure reached out, its hand piercing through her skin, and grabbing her heart. Cadence screamed in such agonizing pain she knew she was dead. Any other presence behind her was unknown. The figure only had time to wrap its icy fingers around her heart once, before something disturbed it.

The thing threw Cadence's limp body with malice across the room. Cadence's body did not stop, but was sent through the drywall. It crumbled on her skin, sticking to her sweat and blood. She just lay there, however. In a sea, the colour of red wine. She felt all hope was lost. What had she gotten everyone into? My selfishness has gotten everyone into this mess! And now they're going to pay with their lives. I'm such a horrible monster! Cadence felt the tears flow down her cheeks. The pain, though, was too potent for her body to go numb, and throw her into darkness. So she lay there, with nothing to do but die.
- - -
I'm not sure what we're saying about the shadows at this point. Can we feel them? See them? My description with Cadence and Spencer were about the shadows trying to take them. And Aunt Irene, as I said before, was a freshly made shadow. What one might look like before it has the ability to change into other forms.

And I figured that since they're attacking, Cadence could get hurt, and go to the hospital. Maybe there she could meet Ryan, Bolt's other character, if that could still work?

And sorry this is so long. I go caught in the moment...

* well i don't think that would work, i already had Ryan escape the hospital because the shadows attacked him*

Gary~~

I saw Spencer shot up out the house fast, but he was falling faster. I quickly sent a gusher of sand to catch him the slowly lowered him to the ground. I saw the others running, some away but One who i could not make out through the now sand covered air to the house and went in after her. When i first saw her i almost threw up, the sight of the half dead creature disgusted me. I saw Candace fly across the room and went to grab her when i felt something grip me and saw the decrypted women up twisting my arm. Then i screamed and i felt a vibration come from me the women fell. I quickly grabbed Candace and was in a hurry trying to escape the now on the move creature. She was closing in on me about to pull me when the guy from the gas station tackled her and then joined me outside.

We were running. Shadows, of all things, seeped like molasses around the house. I glanced back and saw gas-station-guy and Gary running from the back of the house. Cadence was lying in Gary’s arms, red staining her beautiful dress. It was blood.

“Ohmigosh,” I whispered. Then shouted “SPENCE’!!”

Gary had seen him fall out of the sky and he was lying on the ground, quickly standing up. I pointed to his sister, and when he looked, he turned so pale I thought he was dead. I could see him mouth the word “Cadence” as he ran to her, going twice the speed a normal person would. Once he passed me I tried to push air and give him a boost. For Cadence. Not to help him.

No one knew that I could manipulate air. I hadn’t really tried too much before. It didn’t matter. Until now. I ran to the four, Kelly meters behind me. Where was Maribelle? “Guys, Cadence is all bloodied up. Needs medical help ASAP!!” I telepathically told the duo behind me. Spencer was giving mouth-to-mouth, seeing how the other part of CPR was virtually impossible. When I got there I got down on my knees and pushed him out of the way. Placing my hand on her head, over her eyes and nose, and closing my eyes, I concentrated on her lungs and getting air in them. Her heart working would kill her. She’d been Touched. Spencer had to be held back by gas-station-guy so he didn’t kill me. Soon Cadence started breathing again. Her chest went up and down rhythmically. In a quiet, breathy voice I said
“Don’t interrupt me.”

Gas-station-guy pulled out a pocket first aid (like that would help) and some tissues. Spencer got down and held her hand as G.S.G. started to soak up the blood. How had this happened? It looked like someone had tried to rip out her heart. Literally. The shadows were approaching us at an increasing speed. They’d reach us in just a few minutes. And we needed a fake heart and fixed arteries. This wasn’t going to work.

“Gary, get us to the nearest hospital,” croaked Spencer. He really cared about his sister, no matter how siblings acted. Or how I guessed they acted. Gary nodded and we started moving again, picking up Kelly along the way. We sped down back to the road, Spencer mumbling to Cadence. The shadows that controlled the house lay where we had been only seconds ago.

A loud horn sped toward us from behind. Gary stopped immediately. Maribelle was driving toward us in her mini van. We all clambered in, Cadence being lifted in by Spencer to the back seat. Seatbelts were useless in this situation. I continued to keep my hand over her face, and... he... still held her hand. We sped off, G.S.G. leading the quickest way to the hospital.

Please, LORD, let us reach the hospital safely. Please...

---

I may have made Spencer a little to close to Cadence for what Rei has been describing. If so, my apologies.

No, no its good. This is good. You know, I always thought twins would feel a pull of their heartstrings when they saw their other hurt. Some hate that they have their 'identity' stolen. I always say that twins are like each other's second half. This is good. So they're heading to a hospital now? Okay.
- - -

Damien~

Damien tried to do what he could to help. But, seeing the hope in her twin's eyes had made him retreat to the back of the van. He had left him bike. I'm going to have to get a new one, he groaned in his head.

As the van bounced much too fast over brush and sand, Damien pulled out his sketch pad. There was something about the serene look on Cadence's face that was so beautiful. Was she gone now? Was she finally at peace? No. Her chest rose and fell, shakily and much too slowly. But her eyes were focused on Spencer, who was leaning over her like a bear protecting its young.

Anyone who tried to speak to Cadence or Spencer, Spencer would tell them to leave the two alone. The once gentle being who Damien had met seemed lethal now, his voice a hiss each time he spoke.

Damien began sketching the peaceful placement of Cadence's lips, then her eyes. She reminded him suddenly of a fairy. He tried to gaze closer and see what she saw, only to jump back in surprise.

"She needs CPR again!" Damien shouted, so loud. His voice was a crackle. He hadn't yelled that loud in so long. Though the others were seemingly shocked by the fact that Damien knew she needed it at this angle, Spencer followed, and began pushing his fist in Cadence's heart.

But Damien was still staring blanky at the ground before him. He had fallen into darkness. He heard the voices of those who had been killed by the shadow. He saw Cadence. She was still torn up, but the blood had dried, and tears streamed down her face. "Go back, Cadence. Back to your brother, Damien told her firmly. She looked at him, surprised. "Go back!" He yelled again. She got up, and slowly began fading. She was still breathing.

Maribelle, the driver, turned onto a road. "Go left at the intersection," Damien told her, "and then drive straight. You'll find the hospital on the right side then." Maribelle nodded, determined to get there on time.

Spencer was holding Cadence's hand, stroking it with his thumb. Damien had always had a fascination with twins. Did they feel like each other's other half? Like without the other twin, was a part of them missing?

Maribelle finally reached the parking lot, and Spencer lifted Cadence's body. "She's fading," I told him, as he rushed towards the door. "We better hurry."

Spencer gave him a confused glance, but nodded his head.
- - -
In case you're wondering, Damien can see ghosts, but only the spirits of those who were killed by the shadow. Since Cadence had been touched by the shadow, when her heart briefly stopped, she was dead and Damien could see her. He sent her spirit back to her body. Then the second time he said that to Spencer, it was because Cadence was teetering on the edge of dead and living.

Everything had happened so fast. One minute we were all running from the shadow-infested house, and the next we were rushing to the hospital. As Maribelle rushed into the ER driveway-thing I opened the door, ignoring the loud beep. Spencer came out carrying his sister, and everyone else was close to come out, too. The hospital people ran out, and after cursing, placed Cadence onto a medical bed and rushed back inside. When Spencer went inside and tried to follow, a nurse stopped him. I couldn’t hear what she said, but he came back out, depressed and fidgeting.

“I can’t be with her,” he mumbled, quickly pulling a nervous hand through his hair. “Not for a week.”

“What?” Maribelle exclaimed in surprise. “A week?” Spencer nodded. I could feel a lump forming in my throat that made me ask Raven, aloud, stupidly

“How long were you in the hospital?” Raven looked at me, the slight hint of pain on her face. She knocked her head against the car as she said “the same”. She stormed off as the others looked at me. How to explain?

“Don’t ask,” I said, like that was a good enough explanation. But they bought it, to worried about Cadence to care. There was a really, really long pause. Gary, who was apparently great in a crisis, spoke up.

“We should find a motel.” Everyone got in the car again, and we picked up Raven, who was standing on the curb.

Short, weird, I don’t care. Simple.

Okay, I do care, but that was all I could think of. Sorry!

Well, I'll get them to find that Ryan guy, okay?

Damien~

Maribelle was driving slowly, searching for a motely along the desolate streets. No one had spoken. Damien was trying to push back the spirits that were mocking him, push away the fact that any moment he could see Cadence there. He didn't want that time to come.

He shoved his headphones in his ears, pulled his cap tight over his head. And though it was night, pulled his sunglasses on so no one could see the emotions running through his eyes.

The van was gliding effortlessly, and the music blaring in Damien's ears was filling his with rage. Why hadn't he used his powers? He could've saved Cadence! He could've done something to help!

Suddenly, Maribelle slammed on the brakes. "Whoa!" Kelly gasped. The group slammed forward. "Sorry, sorry," Maribelle apologized to everyone. They were all grumbling under their breath, annoyed. "There's a guy in the middle of the street."

"Let him in," Gary said, his voice surprisingly stern.
