Maribelle

The thoughts punctured my brain like glass, I knew what Cadence was thinking. I sent a surge of calm to Cadence, worrying about what would happen.

Cadence you can't. You just can't leave Spencer like that! And if you don't listen to me I WILL find a way to make you stay. If you left Spencer...he just wouldn't be able to make it. Hold on...oh my gosh.

I let Cadence think on that while i looked for Spencer. I rushed outside the hotel, the chilled breath of shadows engulfed me. A rat ran up to me thinking my name, I crouched down and picked it up.

"Spencer?" I asked feeling silly trying to talk to a rat. To my surprise it nodded it's head and thought, We need to get out of here Mari! There here!

I held him close and ran into the hotel, wondering what to do next.

Damien~

Being a medium wasn't always that fun. Sure, people thought he lied, they thought it was cool, but in reality, it could be harsh.

Damien had no idea if anyone was there in the room with him. They'd better not shake his awake to see if he was all right. His eyes were fixed blankly on the TV and he was rocking himself forward and back rythmically. Each time he talked to a spirit he felt his lips move subtley, but he never spoke aloud.

Where he stood, though, was totally white. There were no decorations, except for one door a long way away. Before him stood a girl. She was just an average girl... except she looked like she'd stepped right out of a pencil sharpener. Places where skin should've been was mangled and hanging, one arm limp. Her eyes was completely black. Her face was pale and underfed.

"Help!" She hissed at him, her voice hoarse.

Damien held a hand up towards the door. "Move into the light. There you will rest in peace."

The woman looked at the door. She must feel a tug at her heart strings, just like Damien did every time the door was opened. Her legs stumbled towards the doorway. As much as she resisted, she touched the handle, and opened it.

White light shot out light the sun's rays touching down on her torn skin. Then, with a glance, she turned back and gave a wave, her face serene. Then the door closed.
- - -
This is just the gist of what it will be like for Damien communicating with the spirits. Just so you know.

Sorry, Rei, I’ll post on your SB (Pirates) soon.
I think that THIS is where everyone is at the point of me writing this:

Cadence: bathroom crying her little heart out
Kelly: (see below)
Raven: Girl’s room
Maribelle: Lobby of hotel
Julie: On Ballow’s really nice private jet
-
Spencer: In a rat’s body in Maribelle’s hand
Ryan: Lobby
Damien: Boy’s room (I think)
Ballow: Ballow’s private jet
Gary: Boy’s room (I think)
Joseph: Uhhh… running towards the town that everyone else is in
*

KELLY

I knocked on the door to the boy’s room. Surely they had something exciting for me to do. I was bored. I got cranky when I was bored. No one answered. I knocked again. No one answered.

Well, THAT was fun.

Then I headed down to the lobby to read a magazine. And you know what? Maribelle was leaning against the door to the hotel while holding a little black rat with beady red eyes in her hand. She looked terrified.

Yeah, a lot of people were going insane these days, but that… well, that was just crazy. I slowly walked towards her as I asked, “Uh, Maribelle? What’s going on? What’s with the rat?”

She looked at me with weirdly wide eyes then replied “There are shadows coming this way. And this is Spencer.”

Okay, Maribelle had lost it.

“I’m not crazy!” she said angrily. Oh yeah, I remembered. She can read thoughts. “Spencer, nod your head twice.”

Oddly enough, the rat did just that. As I began to wonder if this was for real it looked out the door and squeaked. A winter gale was trying to force itself inside. It was summer in Arizona. And the lights went out, shadows covered the walls, and a girl in minimal clothing and… Spencer came inside. Oh. My. Gosh. So I did what any other girl would do (okay, I actually knew quite a few girls who wouldn’t have done this). I shrieked and fainted.

JOSEPH

Joseph ran. And ran. And ran a little more until he came to the nearest town. His emotions raged and mingled and made him want to throw up. So many things had happened recently. So many questions lay unanswered.

The dark things were crowding around the bank, the supermarket and the hotel. Great. It felt like he could never evade them. They were everywhere.

Since the ‘things’ hadn’t seemed to notice him, Joseph sat down, pulled out his DS and hoped no one was inside the buildings.

RAVEN

Cadence wasn’t talking. At all. It was understandable, of course. I mean, who wouldn’t want to try and run to their comfort zone when so many bad things happen all at once? Word spreads quickly with things like this; everyone knew that Cadence wanted to go back to England. And she’d have to bring Spencer along. And I wouldn’t be able to go… I slapped myself for such idiotic thoughts. That was NOT going to happen to me again.

A shriek came from the lobby. I felt every muscle in my body tense. A shiver ran down my spine and stayed there. I cursed aloud and kicked down the door to see a shocked Cadence who had nearly been hit in the head by the huge hunk of wood. I tried to warn her but I feared she didn’t hear me, my voice having cracked. “They’re here, Cad. Tons of ‘em.” Then I ran out the door and downstairs.

Maribelle was standing there with a rat in her hand. Kelly was passed out on the floor. Ryan and Gary had come running in from who knows where. Cadence was hobbling behind me. Dang. And to make things worse, Spencer was looking ready to attack us.

I realized he had been taken by the shadow.

Gary shouted out “Make a circle!” and we all lined up in a huge ring surrounding Kelly and Cadence, one being unconscious, the other hurt. So it was… one, two three, four… four against four bazillion. Damien wasn’t present, my best friend was out cold, and my second-best friend was injured and terrified.

With a sigh I braced myself in the most mentally helpful position I knew and muttered “We’re doomed.” The shadows attacked.

*
So NOW:

Cadence: In the middle of the lobby
Kelly: Unconscious in the middle of the lobby
Raven: Lobby
Maribelle: Lobby
Julie: On Ballow’s really nice private jet
-
Spencer: In a rat’s body in Maribelle’s hand (maybe he’ll squeak the shadows to pieces)
Ryan: Lobby
Damien: Boy’s room (I think)
Ballow: Ballow’s private jet
Gary: Lobby
Joseph: IN the town everyone else is in

Gary~~

I had only a mila second but it was enough. Epically sense i knew this would happen and had a way out already. Now that we were in a circle i made an earth dome around us then without another sound i had us fall under ground. I then pushed us out from the building then up onto the surface, or more like into the air. I then released the dome and we were now above the ground falling fast. i was able to land us safety and then with a heave i shot us forward by willing the road to move. I could now feel the pain that came from this massive move. My body felt like i had been stabbed a million times. My head was throbbing, ,my eyes blurred, and my hears ringing in a way that made me want to cry out. which i did, for what felt like a few minutes before i collapsed. i still felt pain in my sleep. I knew i would not be able to move for at least a day or two. I might have saved us but now we were in worse shape. A classic Gary as my step brother would say it.

Maribelle

The shadows were here, I glanced down at Spencer. Then looked up at Spencer's body, it was a grayish tone and he had a maniacal grin across his face. I sighed as everyone created a ring around Kelly, my heartbeat going faster all the while. Spencer crawled onto my shoulder as I positioned myself in a fighting stance.

If we don't make it It was a pleasure knowing you spencer... I thought as everyone's desperate worries flowed in and out of my head. Spencer narrowed his beady red eyes and patted me with his paw.

Maribelle? If something happens to me...I want you to tell Raven I- His thought was cut off as the Spencer's body struck.

My reflex swung my fist forward into the shadow's nose, it staggered as it kept the evil smile taped to its face. I growled and found the closest thing i could call a weapon. A vase was on the table beside me, I broke off a piece of glass and charged into the mass of shadows.

Spencer had decided to do some of his own work every-time we were close enough to a shadow he'd hop onto their shoulders and bite their necks. I dug my piece of glass into anything I could on the shadows.

Raven was fighting off a shadow but, another one was coming up behind her. I rushed towards her and attacked the shadow, I focused on all my power. I attempted in making the shadow feel as if it were burning. The smile was torn off it's face and high pitched shriek filled the lobby. I pushed and pushed until it was writhing on the floor, twitching with pain.

Finally it stopped, I looked at everyone to see how they were doing. Kelly was in trouble, a shadow was reaching for her chest. I tried to fight it off but, this shadow was too strong. Instead of getting it off Kelly I led it to me, the shadow had thrown me to the ground.

I winced as the pain set in trying to crawl away with the strength i had, the shadow's smile grew wider. It had a sharp piece of wood in one hand as the other reached out to me.

Come on Maribelle. Be happy. Join us. Join us. The shadows ushered in sweet voices as I ignored them. I didn't have enough power to do the same that i had done earlier.

No! I must go on! I can't die! I encouraged myself as i slowly stood up. The shadow mocked me and pushed me back down trapping me for good. It got its claws ready and struck hard.

For the first time in a long time I let out a piercing scream in voice and thought. I moved my hands to the claws uselessly as they wrapped around my heart. With my worthless strength I pushed and pushed the claws to get out of me, but before I knew it I had blacked out.

Goodbye everyone. I sent to my group with my last breath and thought.

Don't worry I'm going to figure out a way to get her back.

I'm going to try to go with this, okay Hearts?

Damien~
Goodbye everyone.

Damien didn't care for the flailing shadows constricting his path, grabbing at his arms. He felt their cool fingers wrap around his heart, but he shrugged them off, shoving them to the side. Maribelle... Maribelle...? He whispered in his head, hoping to get some sort of communication.

He kneeled down by her torn body and scooped it up in his arms. Her skin was cold and limp.... Blood stained Damien's clothes and hands. Suddenly, her eyes flicked open. "Mari--!" He shoved her off. Her skin began sizzling, turning the dingy gray like Aunt Irene's skin.

She reached out to him. Damien shoved her off. "Leave me alone!" He hissed, stepping back. His foot hit the steps. He closed his eyes, sending ice flying from beneath his toes. The cool air that eminated from the ice blasting up his spine, making his shiver. His arms still out, he began backing up the steps. He didn't know how to use his powers yet....

He hit the second step, his skate shoes covered in eyes. His foot slipped from beneath him. He plunged into darkness. Who-- who's there? Is anyone there? He heard Maribelle calling.

Damien's head crashed onto the stairs, and he heard a crack. But he didn't care about his head right now. He cared about Maribelle.

"M-Mari... Maribelle?" Damien mumbled, unsteady on his feet in the white space. His eyes adjusted, dizzy from his-- probably-- new concussion. Maribelle stood before him. She looked... odd. Not because the expression on her face was so lost and fearfull, but because she was so... transparent?

She didn't look like a normal lost spirit. Damien reached out a hand, but his hand swiped through her skin. She jumped. Damien stumbled back, falling onto his butt. "S-sorry." He looked down at his knees.

"You have to go back, Maribelle."

"I'm dead! I can't go back!" Maribelle protested.

"Don't you want to go back?" Damien actually hissed at her, his eyes narrowed with anger. "Besides. There are ways around this. We just need a host."

'A Host' will be explained in the next post. I hope I portrayed Maribelle right. The 'Host' thing might be what Spencer needs. I haven't decided.

Raven

I tried to make a telepathic wall to protect us, then I figured that was useless and so switched to offence. I started to create a tornado, then decided that was too dangerous. So I punched all the ones who were in bodies.

This is madness!! I thought as I kicked a girl/shadow in the gut.

Suddenly I got a message from Maribelle. “Goodbye everyone.

I turned around abruptly to see Mari, on the floor, as shadows in their pure form (still literally shadows, not in a body) began to swarm around her. A tear tried to force itself down my cheek. I wouldn’t let it. She couldn’t die at the hand of a shadow. She couldn’t end up like Aunt Genevieve and Mr. Lucas and… Justin. My teeth gritted as I screamed, “Get away from her!” and tried to create a dome around her. I knew it wouldn’t work. I was too tired for it to. But I tried.

I wasn’t usually the kind of person to run and hide, but right then that was all I wanted to do. I mean, I was living the happy little life I had made for myself, then I met the greatest/weirdest people on the planet, then one got her heart dissected from her frikin’ body, and now I was in a life-or-death match where one had met sleep and the other… death.

I moved Maribelle to beside Kelly and Cadence, in the ring of now three people. Gary shouted “Hold onto your hats!” as he created a dome of earth and moved us out of here. All I could think about was… Oh. My. Gosh. Damien was still in the building. And the rat Mari had been hold was in there, too. Dang.

(THIS IS BOLT'S POST, NOT MINE!) I had only a mila second but it was enough. Epically sense i knew this would happen and had a way out already. Maribelle

Dying was nothing like anyone had ever told me, there was no flashing light, no raising hell. Well technically Hell was raising just not in the way I thought it might. I was still in the building with the shadows, Damien had been trying to reassure her to come back.

I attempted to search for anyone in my mind that could be alive in my family, but all I retrieved were the images of shadows. They were everywhere in my head and around me, I just wished I could get away. But, I needed to answer Damien so I looked back at him making sure my face was solid. I really didn't like people knowing how i felt.

"Come back? No friends, no family, nobody. Anyways who would want silly me back? I'm useless, I've probably done nothing but cause trouble. I wanted to help with the group's issues but, it seems I've just made everything a wholly bunch worse." I sighed, a tear swiping down my cheek.

So much of the group was in pain, then a squeak reminded me of someone that needed help.

"Damien! Can you please help me find a rat?" I questioned already on the ground. Spencer was definitely squeaking loudly I just hoped it wasn't bad.

Spencer, go to Damien. I sent trying to get a grip on my powers. It felt like i had to work very hard, my powers must have faded when I died.

Damien was looking at me as if i was on something, but to save me from the staring Spencer came towards Damien. I nodded at Spencer and watched Damien's eyes get bigger.

Mari?Where are you? Spencer squeaked as he bobbed his head to search for me. He caught sight of the ring of everyone that had fainted or been hurt and then it hit him.

Yes, it's what you think it is. I'm dead. I thought straight out not beating around the bush.

"Damien, you all need to get out of here. My keys are in the back pocket of my jeans, I will follow you guys! We can have a long conversation after we get everyone safe!" I said already rushing towards the door.

But, when I got outside nobody was there. Oh dear, this is not good.

"Uhm, M-mari? your body wasn't there..." His eyes portrayed confusion. I looked at him and at Spencer, I guess we are on our own.

"Well they obviously left us. We need to get to safety, let's go." We all looked to my car. Damien volunteered to hot wire it, I told him to go right ahead. It worked and everyone got in easily since it was just a ghost, a rat, and a guy.

Spencer~

Spencer had never heard Damien talk so much. He was busy hotwiring Mari's car, and soon they were crusing along the desolate roads. Any idea where we're going? Spencer asked Mari using his thoughts.

We're going to find everyone, Maribelle answered back. Spencer bobbed his head. "Will I ever get back into my body?" He managed to say, despite the fact that he was a rat.

Silence filled the car. Spencer felt like he was going to be stuck a rat forever. How stupid was he? "You could find a host..." Damien trailed off as he turned the corner. There was a huge crash. It must be them. Damien skidded the car around and sped back towards the motel, where they would search through the rubble to find the others.

"A host?" Spencer perched himself on Damien's shoulder.

"Yes, a host. You and Mari both could find yourselves a new body, one who may have already lost a soul, and take it as your own. With my help, of course...," Damien went silent. He must've used up all his words for the day.

You okay Mari? Spencer asked.

Mhm, Mari answered.

Spencer didn't know what to think. Steal another person's body... or stay a rat forever?

I’m loving this story more and more!

*****************

JOSEPH

One second everything was fine and Joseph was beating the boss in his game, and the next, it wouldn’t have made a difference if the earth exploded. A huge mound of dirt came sliding out of the hotel, destroying whatever got in its path. Fortunately, Joseph was about fifty yards away. The dark things tried to follow the pile of earth, but they melted into the super market from the sunlight.

A guy came out of the hotel, carrying a rat and talking to apparent air. Oh, great. Then he started to hot wire a minivan. Joseph got up, put his game away, and stuck out his thumb. Maybe they’d pick up a hitch-hiking computer nerd...

Ballow~~

"with them." he said pointing to the five other people in the Limo. "they will search with us, this town isn't that big so it shouldn't be to hard." then we all hoped out of the Limo and i watched in awe as i saw a giant platform of earth fly through the air. On it i saw Gary. "never mind we found him." i said then took off to get to them.

I slowed time as i ran to get there before it landed but it was still to fast for me to catch. I saw the shadows attacking a small group of people with Gary. i saw the shadows frozen in this time so i ran to the people and grabbed them all running back to the Limo. When i undid time they all started at me. But i didn't notice because i was to busy trying to wake Gary.
