Silent Hill: the orphanage

Information about the town/orphanage: In West Virginia there is a small town called Silent Hill. Silent Hill is a small town situated around the edge of Toluca Lake and a large forest, with the older sections of town located to the north and along the banks of the adjacent river. Due in part to heavy commercial development, the town is fairly self-sufficient; it has a school, a shopping mall, a church, two separate hospitals, a sanitarium, and other stores and attractions. The majority of the town's businesses are locally owned mom and pop stores, with no apparent influence of chain stores or franchises beyond a burger joint called "Happy Burger". Old Silent Hill and Paleville hold large residential areas with both apartments and homes, as well as several motels and the grand Lakeview Hotel. The beachfront area of Paleville also has a lighthouse and hosts the Lakeside Amusement Park.
In Silent Hill there is an Orphanage called the Lakeside Orphanage. It is located on a large private lot on the outskirts of the town, and it is in between Toluca lake and a large forest. The orphanage consists of the dorms to the south end of the complex, the main building being in the center, a small playground besides the lake (east part), the visitor center in the north, and the parking lot towards the north east.
The Dorms consist of 3 floors each having small rooms, having only a bed, a dresser, a desk and a lamp. The Dorms also have bathrooms (also have showers ^_^) on each floor.
The main building has 2 floors. The first floor has the cafeteria, a wreck-room, bathrooms (regular ones), the headmaster's office, counselor's offices, janitor's closet, kitchen and a small church. The 2nd floor (the basement) has the boiler room, and a laundry room.
The Visitor center has 1 floor. Its main purpose is for those who want to adopt and for transportation (since it's besides the parking lot). The Parking lot has bus drivers (7 am- 4pm mon.-fri. and 8am-5pm Saturday- no Sunday) who deal with transporting the workers, visitors, and the orphans to and from Silent Hill.

Orphanage Rules:(Of course your character can break them if you choose to. Just beware of the punishments!)

1. lights out after 9pm (those 'caught' outside will be punished)

2. everyone must attend church (sunday 6pm to 8pm)

3. Everyone must attend school at Midwhich School (7:30am-3:30pm)

4. Meals are strictly served at 8am, 12pm (on weekends since you can eat at school), and 5pm.

5. No one is allowed to leave the orphanage grounds without permission.

Note: Visitor hours are from 3pm-6pm (Monday-saturday) No visitors on Sunday (Church day)


PLOT!!!!!:

The Lakeside Orphanage is not what it seems to be. Each day, one child disappears. Why? It is a mystery.
Unravel the secrets and discover the awful truth behind the orphanage, and uncover what "The Order" is.

(The plot is pretty basic so I hope it'll work ^_^)


Background information about "The Order":

During the American Civil War, the town served as a prisoner of war camp; after the end of the war, the prison used to house prisoners was converted into a state penitentiary, and shortly thereafter, Silent Hill became a resort town. Around roughly the same period, a group of religious zealots founded a series of small doomsday cults based upon the eschatology of the unnamed Native American tribe which occupied the land before settlers arrived. Collectively referring to themselves as "The Order", the cults, each of whom worshiped a different sub-deity, practiced human sacrifice and necromancy in an ongoing effort to resurrect "The God", an ancient deity which they believed would usher in an age of paradise by killing all humans. In order to fund their efforts, The Order dealt a psychedelic drug called White Claudia, manufactured from a plant indigenous to the town. The drug trade served to increase tourism to the town from the residents of surrounding areas, who traveled there to obtain White Claudia. The drug trade was eventually crippled, in the midst of a war between The Order and local authorities, during which members of the order murdered several police officers.

Silent Hill-

Silent Hill manifests itself in at least three distinct parallel layers, or dimensions: a normal, populated town; a quiet, seemingly abandoned town veiled by supernaturally thick fog; and a dark and decaying town (called the "Otherworld") filled with disturbing, hellish imagery. Only the latter two layers are explored by the games' protagonists, where demonic and disfigured creatures roam the streets and buildings (appearing in greater numbers in the Otherworld). Electricity and lighting are extremely limited or nonexistent as well. Occasionally, characters will transition between dimensions, and in some cases the dimensions may collapse into each other, creating an incoherent space called "Nowhere."
The different appearances of both the town and its inhabitants are made manifest from characters' personal fears, though not necessarily those of the protagonists. These manifestations may be shared between characters, or otherwise appear exclusively to only one of them. It is implied that Silent Hill always held a supernatural presence, but the town's violent and deadly history since the early modern period had perverted these energies into something darker.

NAME: Put your characters full name – first, last, and any nicknames that he goes by. Make sure the name creates the right mental image of your character; a Bill causes a completely different image than a Byron.


BIOGRAPHY: Write a description of your character’s life; past and present. Where was he born, how was his family life – has his past affected him in any way? What does he do now? Who are his friends and where does he live? Don’t make it too long – a paragraph will do.
AGE: If you don’t know the exact age of your character then you can put it’s approximation, such as late thirties, mid-twenties etc.

APPEARANCE: What does your character look like? (Pics are OK)

HEIGHT: How tall is your character?

WEIGHT: You probably won’t know your character’s exact weight, but I’m sure you can guess its approximate one. Is he really light – or a little more weighty?

BODY TYPE: Is he wiry and agile, or does he work out and his body is the proof? Remember that thin and skinny can bring up to different images – and maybe he’s small-boned but sturdy

FACE TYPE: Is your character baby faced, or does he have a sharp, chiseled bone structure?

COMPLEXION: Is she ivory white or does she have more of a cream and coffee color?

EYES: Be specific about the color. Ice blue creates a different character than sky blue. And what is the look in the eyes – is it hard? Nervous? Or does it have a twinkle?

HAIR: Put not only the color, but also the style. Is it long and curly – short and spike – or maybe it’s died blue and shaved into a Mohawk. Again, make the color specific. Instead of brown hair, put red-brown, chestnut brown, or maybe it’s actually the color of dried mud

CLOTHING STYLE: What type of clothing does he usually wear? Is he preppy, or more relaxed? Maybe he’s a teenager that always wears sports jerseys.

SPEAKING STYLE: Is he short and to the point? Or is he long winded?

GENERAL DEMEANOR: This is how your character generally acts and comes across to other people. Some people are just generally easy-going, taking life as it comes…while others are uptight and always looking for a fight.

CAREER: What does she do for a living?

PREJUDICES: Everyone has some, even fictional characters. Does she hate slow drivers…or maybe he’s an intellectual and his prejudice is against anyone who hasn’t read all of Shakespeare’s works - plays and poems

BEST QUALITIES: List three or four of you characters best qualities

WORST QUALITIES: Even the “good guy” has a few faults. What are you character’s?

WEAKNESSES: What is the main weakness in your character’s make-up? What is his “Achilles heel”? Is it that he’s not real smart…or maybe he has trouble getting along with other people.

HOBBIES: When he’s not being thrashed about in your plot, what doe she like to do?

NAME: Elizabeth McCullar (Goes by Lizzy, Liz, or Iz)

BIOGRAPHY: Lizzy was born in Silent Hill, and raised there; however when she was 16 she found her house empty and her parents gone. After that Lizzy was forced to live in the Lakeside Orphanage. She has been living there for about a month. Lizzy is very suspicious of that place. She thinks there is more to it. She especially thinks that Headmaster Gullen has something to do with the children disappearances. Lizzy's friends (Still not known yet); however she does know a local girl named Alessa Gillespie.

GENERAL DEMEANOR: She is somewhat easy-going and accepts people; however she can be suspicious of people too, and when that happens she acts up-tight and tries to figure things out.

CAREER: Student/ works in then kitchens (dishwasher). She wants to be a detective.

PREJUDICES: She is hesitant especially when it comes to large people, and she hates those who are overly religious.

BEST QUALITIES: She is kind hearted, tries to help people and is fun.

WORST QUALITIES: She is rash, really sensitive about being called weak, and doesn't talk about her past.

Biography: she has lived her whole life in the orphanage. She was dumped there as a newborn. She had heard about the recent disappearances and wants to know whats up. She spends her nights wandering the school trying to find out what has been going on, and she has been punished many times for it.

NAME: Kylar ni Ashara t' Gaelan

BIOGRAPHY: Kylar is a direct descendant of Romanian Seers. He's one of the few 'pure blooded' gypsy's left in the world. Like his mother and grandmother before him, back hundreds of years Kylar was born with the ability to see the future and communicate with animals. Sometimes the family was able to change what they saw, sometimes they weren't.

But one thing has remained unchanged throughout the centuries. Every Seer in the family was driven insane by their gift, before their 35th birthday. Because of this Kylar has learned to live in the present, and not worry about the future. His mother was his sole surviving relative, and she committed suicide when Kylar was fifteen. Since then he bounced from foster home, to foster home. And only just arrived at the orphanage. While he's a nice kid for the most part he still continues to practice the religion of the gypsies. Basically the worship of his ancestor's and elemental spirits. So don't expect to find him at church, even if it's against the rules.

WEAKNESSES: When he thinks he's right he doesn't allow for any alternatives, but his real weak point is also his greatest strength his 'mind's eye'. Sometimes the visions overwhelm him, the worst was when he was nine. Kylar was in a coma for a month.

HOBBIES: Enjoys hiking, swimming, watching the stars, likes to solve puzzles.

TALENTS: prodigy martial artist, he's an amazing athlete and fighter. He's smart too, he just doesn't enjoy using his head.

BIOGRAPHY: Leo was born in the small town of forks were he lived with his dad Charlie yet he couldn't put up with it anyone as his dad did not except the fact that he went out with Bella a bit known as trouble in our town. Now that he has left her love and her dad he is scared what the future will bring her. But now all he can do is hide, hide from his dad as he searches to find him. he has no friends as he is a new kid in the city.

Just to let everyone know 'The Cheshire Cat' is going to join as soon as her computer works, so we'll have one more member ^_^ I am going to start this so, if she posts her profile tell her what's happening so far
We are going to start with an assembly in the cafeteria in the Main building of the Orphanage!

Elizabeth (Lizzy) McCullar-

In room #222 (second floor), a girl slept in her small bed. "All children report to the cafeteria in the main building for an assembly." A voice over the intercoms shouted.
Lizzy wiggled in her bed. "why?" She moaned.
Looking as the clock, she gasped. "Its 5:30!"
Lizzy wanted to go back to sleep; however a worker began to pound on her door. "I'M up!" Lizzy announced.
Lizzy quickly grabbed her favorite grey dress, and put it on. She grabbed her tooth brush and dashed out of her room and towards the girl's bathroom. Lizzy walked right besides a girl with blond hair and brown eyes. "Morning May."
May looked over. "Hey Lizzy."
She also held a toothbrush. "What do you think this thing is about?" May asked.
Lizzy sighed. "Probably just Mrs. Gullen trying to scare us into her obedient slaves."
She giggled, and Lizzy smiled. Two girls were in the bathroom. "Hey Pippa and Fee."
The older one muttered a "Hey" while she still brushed her teeth.
The younger one smiled. "Morning."

The four girls sat in a row of chairs waiting for the assembly to begin. A boy walked passed them, making Lizzy blush. "hey Leo." She greeted.
He said "Hey" back.
Pippa looked around. "Where's Kylar?" she asked.
May sighed. "You know he'd never come to an assembly."
Lizzy nodded. "Yeah."
A woman walked in front of the rows of children looked strictly at them. "SILENCE!"
Everyone quickly shut up. "Now I am sure some of you are wondering why you are here. Well I have to say that someone among you brats have committed a crime. Who graffitied all over my office?!" She shouted.
No one said anything. "Well If no one will admit to their crime then I must punish you all. From now on the annual trip to Lakeside Amusement park is canceled."
When she said that many kids among the crowed whined and complained. Gullen smiled. "Now everyone the assembly is over, now get ready for school!"

"This stinks I can't believe that she actually canceled the trip!" Fee complained.
Lizzy nodded. "This isn't right."
Fee, Pippa, May and Lizzy were sitting on a bus heading for Midwhich school. Lizzy had something else on her mind. The thing she had saw last night. "hey, I saw 'him' last night." Lizzy whispered.
The three other girl's gasped. Lizzy didn't notice that both Leo, who was sitting in the front, and Kylar, who was sitting in the back, were listening.

"You see I was walking to the playground trying to get my journal back, sine I had left it there. It was after lights out. It was really dark, however when I got to the playground I was standing under a lamp post. That's when I saw 'him'. The man with no face. He was standing past the fence and facing the lake. I just stared at him, quickly taking notes on his behavior. He seemed to be somewhat distant. It was strange. Then a huge cloud of mist covered the playground, I heard the sound of a something heavy being dragged against the gravel. I was really scared, so I ran."

May laughed. "You got scared?"
Lizzy had put up the idea that she was fearless; however if there was one thing she hated was lying for no reason. "Of course I was. There was something really strange though. When I head something being dragged, I could of sworn I smelt rotting flesh."

Lizzy grew quiet, since the bus arrived at Midwhich school. No one really liked that school. Especially since the students there didn't like the kids from the orphanage coming to their school.

Pippa & Felicity ~


Pippa gasped along with them. She randomly turned to whisper something in May's ear. "Sorry, I know you guys were all excited, but, I was the one who graffitied Ms. Gullen's office! It was definitely worth it though. Imagine red paint all over everything!" She smiled a wide satisfied grin. Fee, who heard, frantically shared the news with Lizzy. "Oh my gosh! How?" Lizzy murmured. "Ms. Gullen, something outside's making a scary noise! Come quick!" Pippa impersonated. She sounded like Angelica, the prissy, stuck up mean girl who Ms. Gullen adored. All of them snickered.
"Pippa, what if she finds out?" Fee asked, nervously.
"What if who finds out?" an ominous voice from behind them asked. It was Ms. Gullen who had showed up at exactly the wrong moment.

Lizzy-

She gasped. What is she doing at school?!
Mrs. Gullen grinned, and placed her bony fingered hand on Pippa's shoulder. "Well my darlings we will discuss your punishment after school. All four of you better head straight to class."
The four girls quickly ran away from her, heading to their homerooms (They all have the same homeroom, room #23)

"THis sucks." Lizzy moaned.
She was writing notes, but not from what was being taught, but rather from what was happening, and what people were doing. "I know. I can't believe that old witch was here!" May groaned.
Pippa looked away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for everyone to get in trouble."
Fee patted her sister on the shoulder. "Its ok."
Lizzy looked over towards the back of the room. There was a dark looking girl drawing a picture. There's Alessa.
Lizzy wrote a note. "Hey alessa ^_^"
She passed it back and someone placed it on her desk. The little girl opened the note and smiled. she looked up as Lizzy and waved.

Leo sat at the table and played with his lip ring that he had in today. He was surpised they let him keep it in. Leo watched the girls chatting and Lizzy as she pushed a note towards Alessa. He was the only boy in the class room at the time as he had came early like the girls. Leo crossed his arms on the table and rested his head.

Lizzy-

She looked over and saw Leo resting his head on his desk. She blushed. May giggled. "When are you going to make a move?" She asked.
Lizzy sighed. "I can deal with scary things and evil spiders; however when it comes to boys I am a coward."
Fee patted her on the back. "Its ok. You'll find courage one day."

Leo heard what the girls where saying. He liked Lizzy too yet he was a coward like she said she was. Leo sat up and rested his head on the wall behind him. She looked over and he grinned at her. Lizzy blushed and looked towards her friend chattering.

May

May's head whirled with classroom assignments and the latest gossip, but mostly, she thought about the disappearances.

"Guys, do you remember Anna? The quiet girl who always sat at the back? She is gone." The others stopped their shenanigans and stared. There hadn't been a disappearance for weeks, and they had slowly forgotten it. But now, it was fresh on their minds.

"I am going out tonight, to try to see what is going on. Is anybody with me?" May stared them down.

Pippa was whispering with Fee all through class. They seemed to have made a plan. When they were out at the playground Fee came bouncing up to the older girls. Alessa followed her. They seemed to have made friends. "We've got a plan!" Fee said. Her sweet voice and angelic features captured the eyes of all. She enhanced it by batting her eyelashes. "We were completely blameless. We, in fact, saw the person who did it. It was someone else. IN fact... all we were doing was debating whether or not to tell you. Naturally we would have eventually, so don't worry Ms. Gullen." Fee looked up through her golden eyelashes with her heart breaking blue eyes. The picture of innocence. All of them laughed. "Good luck with that." Lizzy said. "Don't worry," Fee replied smiling. She and Alessa danced away like their bodies were made of air.

"C'mon Lizzie! You see that girl over there," Pippa pointed to a girl with an ash blonde mane eyeing Leo, "She'll snatch him right up!" Lizzie blushed. "He likes you too and you can't wait around for things to happen for you. If you want to get anything done, you've got to do it yourself." Pippa added.
"He's looking at you..." May said, giggling.
