She looked at Colt.

"Excuse me but I need to use the bathroom." She smile at the waitress who was dissing her on the way to teh bathroom.

Christa-

"Why don't we get something to eat." My dad asked cheerfully. I looked up from the computer and nodded, rubbing my tired eyes. I hope she likes the cafe, he thought nervously. I smiled and shut down the computer.

He took me to a little cafe and we ordered. I soon realized that a mind reader in a crowded restaurant was not a good mix. Putting down the menu, I excused myself and went into the bathroom. I pinched the bridge between my nose and forehead and the headache that had been coming on slowly faded away.

I sighed, why me?

I looked at my face in the mirror for some time, trying to sort everything out when a girl with tears streaming down her face ran into the bathroom.

"Are you okay?" I asked, and she looked a little embarrassed and turned away. I went to her and suddenly realized that I couldn't hear a word she was thinking. The smile that was creeping onto my lips was forced down and I focused my thoughts on this girl's pain, hoping that I would be able to help her.

"What happened?" I asked again, grabbing the lone box of kleenex in the bathroom. Thank God this cafe has tissues.

Kelly:

Kelly ran into the bathroom and nearly ran into a girl.

"Are you ok?" the girl asked.

Embarassed, she turned away.

"What happened?" the girl asked, coming over and giving her a tissue.

"Umm...it's hard to explain. Wait...can you do it too?"

"Do what?"

"You know...," she leaned over to the girl and whispered "read minds?"

Teh girl looked alittle stunned, but then a grin spread across her face.

"Yeah. You?"

"Yeah, thats the reason I came in here. One of teh waitresses called me a whore just because a guy wasn't talkign to her, but was talking to me. Hey there's a whole lot of us outside if you want to come over. We're trying to find all of us. But there's only 12 that I know of. Theres like 5 or 6 out there. So you want to come?" I asked wiping my nose.

"Umm...I'll have to check with my dad."

"Ok, see ya." I said heading out the door, and nearly runnning into Colt.

"Colt! What are you doing?"

He looked alittle surprised. "Oh...I ..was...I...A=are you ok? I heard what she thought."

"Yeah I'm fine. Let's go back, oh I just ran inot a girl who can rewad minds in the bathroom."

"Really? That's odd. It seems like every mind reader is showing up here at this cafe."

"I know right." He grabbed her hand as tehy walked back to join the group.

Xenia Abaryth, September 18th, Seattle.

It wasn't long into her search that Xenia got distracted and found herself in a shop trying on a new outfit. She twirled in front of the mirror and smiled at herself a bit, humming happily as she listened to a girl outside thinking, How long can one damn outfit take? Xen winked at her appearance, delighting in the way her long lashes lay completely flat again her pale cheek.

"Patience is a virtue," she announced with a grin after she had changed back and was leaving the cubicle. The girl merely scowled at her and pushed past but Xenia didn't care: she was delighted with this new gift. Whatever could I have done to deserve something so awesome? Xenia wondered. I'd love to try it with my dad. I could ask him... I could ask him which of us he loves the most. Xen was sobered by this thought and put the outfit back, wandering out into the streets as she turned it over in her head.

But of course he loves them best. How could a single girl ever compare to the perfect wife and two beautiful children? Xen sighed and sank down on a bench opposite a line of shops: book store, coffee shop, cafe, shoe shop...

What's the use of having something cool if you've got no one to share it with? Xenia fiddled with the bracelet on her arm, one of the hundreds that she'd bought with her father's money and wondered for the first time in months what her mother was up to. Probably knocking at my door, wondering why the hell I aint there to bail her out, Xen decided with a smile that had something whimsical about it. What would it be like to live with Dad and have the perfect Mother? I bet it's real sweet. Those kids... my siblings, they don't know how good they got it. Spoiled brats.

Colt:

Colt didn't know why he grabbed her hand, but he did. He was glad that she wasn't as short as most other girls and that she fit smoothly beside him. What are you thinking! He yelled at himself. Quit it now! She's probably way to young!

Look at them, holding hands. Ugh! The waitress growled. He took a deep breath and led Kelly back to her seat and sitting next to her looking at the others.

"Do y'all think we could head somewhere less, crowded?" He asked looking at the others. "This noise is giving me a headache."

"Me too." Kelly admitted. She rubbed her temples as if to imphasize those words.

"We coudl always just go to the park or something like that. It would be quiter at least and no one would feel trapped somewhere." He knew that he didn't like the idea of them all being in an enclosed space. What if someone wanted to get rid of them all sense they could read anyone elses minds except their own. He had even gone to a political rally and boy did he find out fast who he would've voted for. Course he couldn't hold something against the politicians sense he coudln't prove that he coudl really hear what they were thinking and planning.

Kelly:

Thank you she said mentally as they headed out the door to teh park.

"Wait! I forgot the girl in the bathroom. She's one of us." I turned to head back in. Colts hand was still in mine so I pulled him along. The girl was sitting with an older man, who she presummed was her father, and she went up to her.

"Hey, you want to go to the park with us?"

"Umm...daddy can I?" The girl asked her father.

Her father nodded.

"Ok, we'll meet you outside." I said, heading back out the door, Colt behind me.

"She's on her way."

A minute later, she headed over to our group.

"Hey." she said.

"Hey." the group responded.
"Hello, is this thing on?"

Xenia Abaryth, September 18th, Seattle.

Xenia lifted her feet, placing them on the bench so she could hunch her knees and rest her head upon them.

"It's time I went home," Xenia murmured to herself, wondering why she had been crazy enough to catch the plane in the first place. She hadn't even thought to check the date of that message: it could be decades old. Or even worse and more likely, just a practical joke.

"I want to go home," Xenia mumbled more loudly.

Yeah, we heard you the first time, stupid kid, a passing man thought. Xenia looked up to scowl at his back and caught sight of a group of people her age heading out of the cafe across the street. Probably all had lunch together, Xenia thought wistfully. I wonder if Carly would eat with me if I asked her. Or do only close friends do that? Xenia's stomach lurched and she felt tears stinging her eyes; it wasn't fair.

"You guys are real lucky," she whispered, watching the group. Near the back, a boy and girl held hands and she wondered what they were thinking. Wait... I can't hear their thoughts. Is that it? Was the gift only temporary? And I just wasted it? Xenia's frustration was so great that she groaned aloud and kicked her feet to the floor, not caring that she was making a scene.

**TIME SKIP [for my character only, haha]**

Isabella Milan, September 18th, Seattle

Seattle.
Is.
Huge.

I grew up in a small town, so being someplace so large was...weird. The streets were crowded, and hearing so many voices at once really messed with my head. I decided that if I was going to find anyone else who knew about this, they'd probably be someplace quiet. I settled on a park for the moment.

Granted, finding the actual park was easier said then done.

As I walked down the street, I noticed a cafe. The rich scent of coffee tickled my nose, and I inhaled deeply.

"I want to go home," I heard the voice, but no thought process followed. Creasing my forehead, and turned to who had spoken.

"Excuse me," I said, touching the girl's shoulder gently.

**Hope you don't mind, Heather!**

Paramore: you'd have to pm the storybook starter. She hasn't posted for a while so she's probably not seen your message.

I don't mind at all, Bella =)

Xenia Abaryth, September 18th, Seattle.

"Yeah?" Xen asked sullenly, trying hard not to cry but her voice came out on the edge of shrill and she had to clutch the bench hard to get a hold of herself. And I bet if I could still do that thing where I was hearing people's thoughts, she'd be thinking what a cry baby I am. Xenia pouted her lips and scowled at herself, then forced herself to look up and crack a smile. "Can I help you at all?" she asked, her voice coming out sweet and soft.

The girl looked taken aback but swung her leg over the bench and took her hand from Xenia's shoulder, almost absently.

"I just wanted to check you was alright. You sounded sad, is your home far away?" the girl asked. Xenia cocked her head to one side, curiously and nodded, thinking of her father all the way over in Europe, currently touring England. Visiting them more likely...

"Yes, he's very far away," Xenia said. "My dad that is. Las Vegas isn't home without him." The girl seemed to consider this, a slight frown knitting her brows together and then she said:

"What are you thinking?" Xenia's stomach lurched, that was so close to her actual thoughts: What's she thinking, why did the gift suddenly stop? And what about that huge group and- then Xenia's brain caught up and she realised that no, the gift hadn't stopped. If she concentrated elsewhere, she could hear other thoughts but this girl and those others, they were... different.

"I'm thinking you're going to think me mad," Xen said quietly.

"What if I promise not to?" the girl asked.

"Then I'm thinking you can read minds too except that you can't read mine and I can't read yours. And if that's the case, there was a group of people heading down the street just a minute ago, look there they are, walking towards that park. And I can't hear their thoughts... either." Xenia trailed off and she bit her lip and she looked away. "Guess you think I'm mad?"

"Why don't we go ask them?" the girl suggested, standing up. "I'm Bella by the way, mind reader in training." Xenia smiled uncertainly: was that a joke? Was she supposed to laugh?

"I'm Xenia," she said instead. "Xenia Abaryth. Or... Xen if you like."

**Wow I missed a lot. I'm just going to jump in here...**

Luke

The plane ride had been interesting. Very interesting.

The girl, Jena, was like me: able to read minds. Why we couldn't read each other's, I don't know. She and I were heading for the same place, though, and for the same reason. Seattle, to find Dr. Blaine.

We were now entering a room, where there were a few others. I couldn't read their minds either, but I distinctly heard "Dr. Blaine."

Isabella Milan, Seattle, September 18th

"Nice to meet you Xen," I said, smiling warmly. She seemed a bit hesitant to even look at me, so I figured it would be best for me to be extra nice. She got to her feet slowly from the bench, but I was beginning to get rather excited. I could care less if the group of possible-mind-readers thought me to be crazy.

"Come on," grabbing Xen by the wrist, I drag her through the Seattle crowd, toward the others. They are talking quietly among themselves, getting oddly quiet if passersby look at them in the wrong way.

Tim

Tim voiced his thoughts, "You guys want to get out of here? I don't think you guys ill appreciate some of the comments people are thinking here about us."

He saw their agreement in their faces. H got up and ran straight into two other people. He tried to read their minds, but failed.

He smiled, the girl had scratched him accidentally, but it was bleeding. Pain - finally. He looked at the small huddle behind him and raised an eyebrow.

"We have two newcomers!" he said.

"WHAT!?!" some of them exclaimed.

Colt:

Colt shook his head. "THis is getting weird, it's like we all found out about Dr. Blaine at the same time." He frowned. "For all we know he or she wants to wipe us all out." He shrugged. "I don't like it." He tightened his grip on Kelly's hand. He couldn't believe how much more in control of his emtions he felt when she was next to him.

That's the weirdest group of people I've ever see. A runner thought.

Geez, their probably in a cult or something. A man walking by thought.

I don't like the looks of them, where are my kids! A mother by the playground thought.

"Let's get out of here." Colt frowned. "We're scaring people."
