Coraline:

I couldn't be mad at him, I really couldn't. He had been nice to me, what with not eating me and all. He looked truly upset when he thought I was mad at him. I put my hand on his shoulder feeling how cold it was, and shook him a little.

"Hey, I'm not mad; I told you I'm used to it." I gave him a half hearted smile, then tried to understand the rest of what he had said, "What do you mean if I'm caught with your scent? And why would you get in trouble for liking a human?"

"I don't think you understand," I said. "The people here aren't normal to your society, and your cultures are completely alien to us. Sure, Helio is quite diverse, but we don't have people of every ethnicity and background. We enjoy isolation. As they say, ignorance is bliss--certainly in this case, and even for your human world."

"What do you mean, 'Even for your human world'?"

"On this island, we have so many things that your humans have only dreamt of, and many that are beyond all human imagination. The drachea maccillus, for one. They have human intelligence, beastly strength, cunning and wit beyond all but the wisest elf or werewolf, and a shadow-like form that permits them to sneak up on their prey. The beasts are death itself." I shivered. The things were truly evil.

"Again, even though you already said you weren't, I have to please ask of you not to get mad."

"Okay, I won't,"

Jasper glanced back again, and started in his whisper. "My scent will trail on anything that gets near me. Like this island for example, everywhere I went, touch, talk to..."

"Talk to?" Coraline repeated.

"Yes, my breath has an odor just like yours does, just... lighter. Anyway, my brothers and I get into these races and recently I won. So, because those two knuckle heads are sore losers -- like always -- they tied me up, got on a jet, and dropped me in the middle of the ocean. Luckily, I landed on this island instead of plummeting to the ground like last time."

Coraline's eyes widened a little in shock, and Jasper managed a chuckled. "Don't worry, it's not unusual for my family. That's why I don't mess with my sister." he smiled, but it quickly fell. "The scent is to track my siblings and I down whenever we do somethin' like this."

"And the reason you can't like humans?"

Jasper looked back, staring intently at the waves until Coraline shook his shoulder again. "The reason is that, well, your kind isn't really supposed to know about us. We're supposed to be... mythical creatures." he voice was oozing with hatred at the words. "If they find you, they'll either think I was going to kill you soon -- which I'm not -- or that I told you about us and they're going to kill you." he tried not looking at her face, to ignore whatever reaction that was there, but he could help but do just that. "I'm sorry,"

For a few minutes, they stood there. Coraline taking in all the new information about his family. For those few minutes, Jasper's head was turned to face behind him, his hears perking at the slightest sound. Someone could be close, they could be coming, but then again... it could just be the crashing of waves.

"I won't let them," Jasper assured her, but at the moment, he was unsure of himself.

(Okay, I'm super late... but Lily said I could! xD Also, this is my first storybook, so please help me. Hee hee.)

Name: Mira Dohnolly
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Race: Human
Choose one: New Arrival
Appearance: Lustrous, wavy chestnut hair, big greenish-brown eyes. Big red lips, tall, curvy, and very very pretty.
Personality: She's a little bratty and quite melodramatic. Rebellious and free-spirited. She's not all bad, though. She can be very generous and giving. She softens up when she finds it necessary, and can cheer up anyone with her incredible acting abilities.
Background: She's an actress and singer from New York. She comes from a rather rich family and she's a typical "daddy's girl". She's going to Europe to perform a very big show, and it's not one of her first. And that's where she gets stranded on Helio. Up for love. :)
____________________________________________
(I'm going to start here, if that's storybook proper... you know, to save points.)

There was screaming everywhere. It was very much like one of the plays I was in, when a beastly monster invaded the quiet town my fellow actors and actresses and I were supposed to dwell. "We've hit a rock!" a man yelled. "The ship's flooding!"

I gaped. I doesn't know if I should be worrying about missing my big show in Europe, or if I should have been fearing my life.

The massive cruise contained a lot of people. If it was indeed a life threatening situation, there was no possible way everyone could escape to the smaller boats.

I stared at the horizon. There was nothing but ocean as far as I could see.

Suddenly, everyone was running to the extra boats. I exuded a bloodcurdling shriek and ripped my high-heals from my feet. I sprinted along, pushing others out of my way. Thousands of people were sliding down the ropes that scaled the length of the huge ship. I grasped one and slid, my hands cooking on a stove. They slipped and I was falling.
_____________

My stinging eyes opened. The sand around me was soft and white, clinging to my skin and hair. My skin was shriveled and soaked. Horrified, I sat up and looked around. In front of me, a vast, clear sea stretched far. I turned my shoulders and neck around to get a better look behind me. Trees were everywhere. There was a boat nearby, a massive dent on the side. Two people were on the deck, holding hands and saying words I couldn't hear.

(Okay, that last paragraph, Mira was seeing Coraline and Jasper. I wasn't sure if that was really where they were. I had read about it earlier, but I forgot. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

My eyes widened a touch. Perhaps this island wasn't meant for humankind...But no. All things could be tamed, even this island. After all, this monster she spoke of. It might have human intelligence, but it would certainly not have human technology. Nonetheless, I would need her help if I was going to explore this island and live to tell of it.

"I can understand the need for isolation, then." I said with a slight smile, "It sounds as though it's best for both our worlds, that way."

She glanced sidelong at me, a little suspicious. I understood completely, I could almost guess her thoughts exactly. Why the sudden change of heart? Surely a few words about isolation, ignorance and a horrible monster couldn't have turned my thoughts so suddenly. I needed to distract her, "You make the...what did you call it? A drachea masillis?? You made it sound like a vampire. But they don't exist."

She smiled, gesturing to her ears again. I blushed a little, "Sorry, it's easy to forget. You...I dunno, I guess I was going to say you looked human, but..."

She raised an eyebrow, "But what?"

I reddened a little further, "But nothing. You look human." I applauded myself mentally. I'd never really picked myself as an actor. Then it hit me - it was because it wasn't all acting. Sure, it was an undeniable fact that at this point, I wanted to show this place to the world, but at the same time, I was starting to understand where they were coming from. And not only that, my apparent infatuation with her wasn't all acting either.

Coraline:

I could tell he was unsure, but I was pretty sure I wouldn't let Jasper's brothers eat me, or that Caleb wouldn't. Oh God, Caleb. He was probably really worried about me.

"Jasper can you do me a favor?" I asked. He nodded, "Can you run me home, at vampire speed?" I bit my lip and waited. I just wanted to make sure Caleb knew I was safe, then I wanted to talk more with Jasper, find out more about vampires; see if he knew if there were any others on the island.

His ears perked and his head glanced back to the open waves. "He's close, maybe a few miles away. That's a good idea, you really should-" Jasper stopped mid-sentence and stared at Coraline's face like he was looking for something.

"What?" she finally asked craning her neck backwards.

Jasper tilted his head slightly. "Who Caleb?"

"Uh... Just a friend," Coraline seemed to tense a bit.

His eyes widened a little as he searched hers, then they narrowed and his head became straight again. Jasper look down at the floor boards as if they were suddenly interesting, his brow created a dark shadow over his eyes. "Oh," he said quietly. "well, I just he must be worried about you." Jasper's lips twitched up in a clearly fake smile, then dropped again. "Am I really, just a library to find out more about vampires? Is that it?"

"Jasper, I- It's not like- Caleb is just- No, you-" before she had anymore time ask unfinished questions, Jasper had reached under and picked up, jumping off the boat and headed for the cabins.

In ten seconds flat he was there and set her down. Coraline stumbled over to a log and tried to catch her breath.

"When you got an answer to my questions, just think it, okay? I'll be waiting for the reply. Oh, and tell Caleb I said hi when you see him." then, he disappeared, running back for the beach.

Coraline:

Just think it? Okay. I walked into the cabin and looked around. My parents weren't there but Caleb was.

"Where have you been?" He asked standing up and wrapping his arms around me.

"I'm sorry, I was with a friend. We were just talking." I hugged Caleb back and then stepped back, "I just came to make sure you knew I was okay. I'm going back to the beach." I finished with a smile and then walked to the door.

"Wait, are you having..fun?" Caleb asked, a smile on his face.

"NO!" I said quickly and turning my smile into a frown. I hurried out the door and headed to the beach.

I decided to try the whole, just think it thing as I walked.

Jasper, Caleb is just my brother. I just wanted him to know I was safe. I'm sorry I didn't tell him about you but I don't think he would believe me. And no I don't want to just use you to find out about vampires, I want to be your friend too.

The answer was quick and made his shoulders relax from their tense slump. Jasper, Caleb is just my brother. I just wanted him to know I was safe. I'm sorry I didn't tell him about you but I don't think he would believe me. And no I don't want to just use you to find out about vampires, I want to be your friend too.

"I really should've thought more into it before jumping to conclusions like that." he mumbled, kicking the sand as he step out of the trees and back into the beach.

Two scents were wafting through the air now. One definately human and very strong, while the other was a little fainter, but without a doubt vampire. The only other difference was the distance from him that the objects were. A girl was sitting on the sand, trying to dust it off and mumbling something under her breath. Jasper picked up his pace and was quickly at her side.

"Hello," he said, tilting his head to a side to get a better look of her face.

***here you go****

Lavain

I sat on the stupid rock at the stupid beach... ah! Everything was so freaking stressful. I growled, keeping humans safe was my specialty. I looked like an emo farie, it was kind of funny. I could feel all the pink glitter shining on my eyes. My blonde hair had one long black streek, but that was it, my hair looked white instead of blonde. I saw a shadow cast over me, I looked up and gasped...

Apollo stood other the pure beautiful fairy. He also saw a young girl sitting on the beach behind them. ''Dont hurt me'' she gasped. ''Dont worry I wouldn't waste me time killing something beautiful, I wont to get ride of the ugly things in the world''. Pandora walked up to the pair. ''Hey, I'm Pandora''She put her hand out to the fairy, they looked quite alike. Apollo just looked over at the two. He looked a bit odd next to them.

"Well, there's alot of friendly people on Helio. But you still must be careful, trust no one." I replied.

"Thank you." Pandora smiled.
