**I'm feeling a little better now. Hmmm... let's see... **

Drake

I nodded. I could live with that. If he didn't want to tell me the full details now, that was fine. There was always later.

But then came the issue of who was going and who was staying. Sam needed Tegan; that was absolute. But it was too risky trying to bring a recovering Rogue on a long-distance trip. He would have to stay, which meant I would leave Tegan in charge.

I held up a finger at Jack, signaling for him to wait a moment, as I pulled out my cell phone. While we were on the subject, why not take care of it now?

Tegan

I held her against me, enjoying the warmth of her body against mine. And her skin was so soft, so delicate... It was like I was touching porceline.

"Just sleep," I told her, placing my lips against her hair. "I'll be right here."

Then, the worst could happen. My cell rang quite loudly. I ripped it out of my pocket only to see Drake's number. "What's up?"

"Jack and Joseph have business to handle in London; something about Gael's activities have them a little...curious, I should say. Do you think you can handle the base while I'm gone?"

"How long are we talking about?"

"About two weeks. Can you?"

I scoffed. "How dare you ask me such a ridiculous question. You know damn well I can! When are you leaving?"

"In a couple of hours."

"Fine. Don't worry; I can handle it."

We hung up, and Jenna lifted her head. "What is it?"

"Drake's got to go to London; he left me in charge here." I kissed her forehead. "Now, you go to sleep. Okay?"

Jenna-

"How can I sleep after that?" I said, sitting up. "You're in charge of the whole Breed operation?"

"Yes, but it's not important," he said, stroking my hair.

"Of course it's important," I said determinedly. "You've been off-duty for these past months, and suddenly you're heading the whole thing?"

"Jenna, I can manage," he said calmly.

"I'm not saying you can't," I said with a sigh. "But what if you get hurt?"

He gave a low, irresistable chuckle. "Have you seen me?" he asked.

I slapped the hand on my face, but it must have felt like a mosquito bite to him. Dammit, wish I was stronger. "Be serious," I said in my most motherly tone.

"Jenna, I'll be fine. We'll be fine. Everything'll be fine."

"What about Walter?" I asked.

Tegan shrugged. "We can take him."

"We?" I said hopefully.

"Me and the other Breeds," he answered. My face must have fallen. He put a hand beneath my chin. "You're not thinking what I think you're thinking are you?" he asked.

I slumped. "Nobody ever asks me if they want me to fight," I said grumpily. "I mean, I don't have superpowers and maybe I wouldn't be much good, but have you ever thought how hard it is to watch everybody you love risk their lives?"

"I'd much rather do it than watch you risk your life, Jenna. Especially now."

"But-"

"Sleep," he whispered and kissed my ear. I shut my eyes.

"I hate you," I murmured as slumber took me again and I wrapped my arms around him.

Tegan

I chuckled when she cuddled against me, giving in.

I held her as she slept, thinking about what she had just said. Every word and phrase left me wondering, anxious. I would never tell her that aloud, though...

You've been off-duty for these past months. That was unquestionable. It was certain; yet, I'd been working the whole time, training Sam and subduing his outbursts. But it was so much different than fighting Rogues, who knew no sense of control! They were stronger, faster, and meaner. Sam was just child's play, easily taken care of. Had working with him made me lazy?

But what if you get hurt? Again, was I losing my touch? Could I lose my skills? What if I got out there and had to fight, but didn't remember anything? Like earlier tonight; I was blank-minded, panicking. Drake and Jack did most of the fighting; I was just there...the frightening image leading the way. How would I fare now that I was alone?

What about Walter? I knew nothing about fighting him. Drake had handled him in the past, not me. Drake knew what to do, but it wasn't like he could just teach me within hours. I couldn't call him while I was in the middle of a battle, where my life was on the line...

I swallowed hard, holding Jenna closer. I truly was worried; there was so much I was unsure of... I would just have to deal with it as it came.

I leaned back, laying on my back across the couch with Jenna beside me, sheltered in my embrace. I held her and let my own breathing slow as my eyes closed. Before I realized it, I was asleep as well.

Jenna-

I woke up and wondered whose arms were around me. I turned over. Tegan was sleeping like a baby. I had seen him asleep before, he looked so different, the defences were gone and all that was left was a childlike innocence.

I kissed him awake. "Wake up," I said. "I need to get up."

"Your breath smells," he grunted.

"Which is why I need to go to the bathroom," I said. "C'mon, let me up!"

He did so reluctantly. I knocked on Sam's door.

"Sammy! Wake up, it's dark!"

He grunted too. I looked inside. "You sleep okay?" I asked.

"I've had better," he said. "Would've been more peaceful without you two keeping me awake."

I blushed. "Come on!" I said. "We have a busy day-night."

I went into the bathroom to wash my face and teeth. I could hear Tegan stirring outside. "You going to go talk to Drake?" I asked.

*sorry, been gone all weekend.*

Alana:

Alana woke up the next morning and yawned softly. Something was going on, she had this uneasy feeling. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed something to eat then went to find Drake. He was sitting and tlaking to the Jack guy, at least that is what she thought his name was. She could've been wrong. She walked up behind Drake and wrapped her arms around his shoulders resting her chin on her arm while he was sitting.

"What did I miss?" She asked smiling softly.

Tegan

Even as she finished her sentence, I was fastening the belt that held my blades and pistol. Just in case. My black trench coat finished the threatening ensemble.

"I'm on my way now," I said as I headed for the door. "I'll be back soon."

Drake

"Hello, my sweet," I smiled, touching one of her hands tenderly. "Jack and I were just talking about a little trip to London, to take care of some Rogue business."

"What about here? Who will take over? Tegan's been out for so long - "

"He said he could handle it." The door opened, and there stood my best friend, ready for the official meeting. "Ah, thanks for joining us. Come on in."

I beckoned to Jack, letting him take over on the details of the entire situation.

Jack St. John-

"Joseph's helicopter is taking us to London in less than an hour. We're going to meet with the Breed group in Lodon in a prearranged spot," I checked my watch then continued, "They have been keeping tabs on Gael, the rouge leader, since his arrival two days ago. Luckily he hasn't set up camp where we planned to so sleeping arangments and such are secure," I felt like I was instructing a group of army men, like in WWII.

"Where will we be staying?" Drake asked.

"Um...A very old mansion. It is owned by... my family, though they know nothing of me they have agreed to let us stay there." I answered.

"What exactly will we be doing there?"

"Hopefully we will be able to figure out what Gael is up to and get to whatever it is he wants first." I answered.

"How do we know he is after something?" Drake asked stroking Alana's hand.

"He wouldn't be there if there wasn't something of value to him. I'm guessing he is after some sort of weapon or leverage, something he didn't have in the last war." I hoped the worry that we may already be too late didn't play across my face. I wasn't sure exactly what he was after but I knew it wouldn't bode well for us if he suceeded, "I'll let you say your good byes and wait out in the car."

**You know, that's actually running along the lines of the real series, The Breed. In the series, the leader of the Rogues is trying to find an Ancient, one of the original vampires who's been in hibernation for over 10,000 years. They're said to be the strongest of all vampires! XD Great job, Rory! This might actually work!! I'll post later, when I can think...**

Alana:

Alana froze, Goodbyes Drake was planning on leaving her behind! She took a deep breath, could that be right, would she have to stay here until he got back, doing nothing.

"Goodbyes?" She asked softly moving so she could look at Drakes face, though she knew that she wouldnt' be able to tale what exactly he was thinking. "Can I not come with you?"

I stroked her cheek. Damn, this would be hard. I had to choose between love and duty, between my beautiful girlfriend and reason. Yes, her presence would be great, but it would be a hindrance...

Well, maybe not. She was pretty fiesty...

"You can come as long as you promise me one, well two, things: do exactly as we tell you and don't get hurt. Okay?"

Alana:

Alana chewed the inside of her lip. If what he told her to do put him in danger there was no way she would do it. But she was going to agree with him. That was the only way she would be able to go. He should know that if it came to his saftey she would act unshelfly and help him.

"Alright." She said smiling.

"No matter what?" He said eyeing her. She wanted to frown, but she wasn't going to.

"I said alright to what you said didn't I?" She smiled.

Jack St. John-

I wasn't suprised when Alana followed Drake out, I was suprised when she climbed into the backseat of the car. I wasn't too keen on her going, for her safety and others. But who knew, maybe she would prove useful. I didn't show my suprise though, just drove.

When we arrived at Joseph's house he was waiting outside. The helicopter was on the helipad on the roof already fired up. Joseph smiled and I could see a hint of shock when Alana stepped out of the car, but he quickly concealed it. Joseph led us through his mansion of a house to an elevator that took us up to the helipad.

We all climbed in, Joseph and I sat in the back and Drake and Alana sat just behind the captain and co-pilot.

"So he brought his girlfriend?" Joseph whispered as he buckled himself in.

"Maybe she'll be useful." I whispered back smiling, noticing just how nervous he was to be flying, "Calm down, remember you can't die."

"Isn't it pretty to think so," Joseph said quoting Hemingway.

"Just relax." I said failing to supress a smile.

Drake

I tried not to laugh; how could they forget that we had sharper senses? I could hear every word they were saying, and it made me smile.

Alana looked at me. "What?"

"What?"

"You're smiling. About what?"

I sighed, thinking about all the things we were going through. "I don't really know. I guess I'm just excited to get after Gael."

Which was true. I would tell her about our companions' conversation later, when we were alone. She would love that!

Tegan

I watched them drive away, toward Joseph's mansion. Leaving me alone, as the leader.

This could be hell, it could be heaven. I guess we'll see. I turned and headed back toward my apartment, to Jenna and Sam.
