**I got a good idea last night, but I'm gonna need another character to do it.**

Name: Matthew
Age: 26
Appearance: black shirt, black pants, black boots, black gauntlets, black and red sash; red hair, green eyes
History: Slaughtered Jake's family in a raid.

*****************************

Jake

I bolted to my barracks and removed my daggers from their hiding place. They felt good in my hands. I was ready. I would finally tag Mathew...

I tucked them into my boots and ran back to the deck to find us coming up alongside the Crimson Tear. The crews were already in turmoil.

Nash shouted at me to be careful, but it was too late. I was already running for a halyard, taking hold, and swinging over the gap and onto the Crimson Tear's deck, ready to fight.

Matthew

I saw him come over. But...who was he? He was familiar...

"Oh, yeah," I drawled, drawing my pistol and knife. "The aristocrat's kid."

"Matthew..."

We began to fight.

Sean jumped aboared, not sure what to do at first. It had been a while that she had been in a fight.

"Get fighting!" Nash called as he thew a sward to her.

She faintly saw a sward heading for her head. She ducked. Some of her hair fell to the floor. She came at them.

Jake and Matthew clashed, swinging with wild speed and manuevers. Slash, duck, slash, duck, punch, crash, start over. They stayed on each other, near brawling near the mast of the Crimson Tear.

"Ya' should'a stayed home, boy!" Matthew taunted, slapping the handle of his pistol across Jake's cheek.

"You never should've been a pirate!" Jake challenged, using one of his knives as a projectile. The blade flew across the space between them and got tangled in a nearby net.

That was all it took. Matthew leveled the pistol on Jake as he drew his other knife, readying it...

The gun went off.

Jake cried out, stumbling, as the bullet entered his right shoulder.

Sean jumped at Jake's cry. She turned. All that happened was fast. SHe watched Jake grab at his shoulder, dropping his sward.

His knife being in a near by net there was no help here.

Zen took his chance after Sean turned. He slashed at her.

Blood seaped into her shirt. She cryed out once and turned around. SHe didn't care how scary he looked it didn't matter. She hacked back but he just barrley pulled his block off.

She stared hard into his eyes. He looked back and eventually became cunfussed and lost in them.

She finally turned and ran to Jake. The guy was still there. What'd he want?

Jake groaned as he rolled onto his back, left hand to his bloody shoulder. Great. He couldn't even move his arm because of the bullet! Thank goodness it had gone all the way through, at least...

He coughed when Matthew planted a kick to his other side, cracking a couple of ribs in the process. Jake rolled away, moving his left hand to take hold of a discarded pistol on the floor. It was already loaded!

"Shame," Matthew drawled, striking Jake with the butt of his pistol again. "I thought you'd be a betta' challenge!"

"Get away from him!"

Jake looked up to see Sean advancing, ready to fight. He took his chance, raising the pistol and cocking it. A single shot was all he could afford. He was beginning to lose consciousness...

Matthew turned on Sean, back handing her with enough force to send her sprawling. She shakily got up, returned to attack again, and barely avoided another attack.

Jake centered the sights on Matthew's back. He pulled the trigger...

Matthew fell forward, cringing in pain of having a bullet in his back. Jake panted, dropping the weapon, and shakily got to his feet. He would have to summon every ounce of strength left to get back the Crashing. He was already starting to collapse...

Sean fell bacwards as the bulk of the man fell on her.

"Ugh." she said as it fell completely on her. This guy is heavy! She thought to herself.

Jake

I saw her struggling beneath Matthew's body - alive or not, I couldn't tell - and I moved to her. Using a foot, I rolled him off of her, then extended my left arm to her, helping her to her feet.

"We've got to get out of here...I can't last too much longer..." I panted. Even as I spoke, everything began to reel.

I gestured back towards the Crashing, and I ran. The movement was torture to my shoulder and broken ribs, but I still made it. I was still able to take hold of a stray halyard and swing back onto my home ship.

My work had been done. Finally. Hopefully.

My knees buckled when I hit the deck, and I rolled across the boards.

Nash struggled to help the first mate with Jake. He always got the wounded bandaged no matter what.

Sean looked back once at the crew on the Crimson Tear. This was not over, but simple a bad day.

SHe reached the deck and for a second she felt fine. Untill, Vunp. She fell to the deck.

Jake

I winced as they finished binding my shoulder. Despite my blackening eyesight and weakness, I still saw Sean collapse. I started to rise and go to her, but everything seemed to spin.

"Oh, shit..." I panted, laying back down.

"Be still, lad," Nash instructed as the first mate carefully supported me to my feet. When he began to lead me below, I halted, glancing at Sean.

"Take care of her...then bring her to me...please..."

I finally passed out.

Sean was greatly asleep when thay took her to Jake's cabin. They had never really gotten a cabin for herself.

Nash pushed the door open. And placed her inside by Jake.

Jake

I shivered. I felt cold, but I could feel the heat rolling off my skin. I had a fever...great.

I opened my eyes to see Sean beside me, fast asleep.

Good. At least she was fine.

Sean was very much asleep as her amr went over Jake. It was almost as if she had abig stuffed animal in her arm like she did when her father raded a ship once when she was younger. He had gotten it just for her and she was happy.

Jake

I lay still as she held onto me. I couldn't hold her in return, but I could accept her affection. I gave another shiver as I shifted - moaning because it was painful - to keep her arm off of my injured side and shoulder.

**It's okay.**

Jake

I was only subconscious when I heard Nash and the first mate speaking. Or was I dreaming? No...I couldn't be...

"There's a port city 'bout a day's sail to d'south," the first mate was saying.

"What's there?" That was Nash.

"A few pubs, an inn, a doctor...Jake needs one, bad."

"Aye. The lad's burning up. I can feel the fever on him, even standin' here!"

"What we gonna do?"

"Head south. We could use some refreshments and new recruits. And get Jake a doc."

I couldn't tell if they left or not; I passed out again.

**How's that? Soon as we reach the port, we can open the story up to other writers, get new recruits, and start it back up. What'cha think?**
