Shadow Reapers

This storybook is a sequel to the storybook called Be You. Ayumi and I decided to take a completely different approach to making a sequel. Be You was a high school drama where you role-played with characters that perfectly mirror your personality in the real world. Instead of making this storybook a college drama, we've decided to twist it into more of a fantasy one with ghosts and spirits.

Since the author of the previous storybook did not specify the city in which the story took place, I'm going to say this one takes place in Toronto, Canada at a college called Humber. Be sure to specify which college program they are enrolled in and if they're staying in a single room dorm or a double suite with a roommate. Although it won't affect the storyline in anyway, it'll help make everyone's characters a little more three dimensional.

I'm going to be basing this storybook off a certain anime, but I'm not going to say which one. That way no one will try to jump ahead. I'm going to be introducing the main plot gradually. That's why I only want dedicated storybook writers to join in. This storybook is going to be a long one, and if people jump in only to stop posting eight pages in I'd rather it be just me and Ayumi posting.

Also, don't forget to specify whether or not your characters can see ghosts. Eventually everyone is going to be able to see ghosts, but if your character starts off at the beginning with that ability be sure to mention some kind of near death experience in your character's history.

Name: Kai Okami

Appearance: Shoulder length very dark brown hair, brown eyes, 6'2 tall, broad shoulders, wears black fingerless gloves during the colder seasons, usually wears a black T-shirt, blue jeans and vest.
Personality: Friendship and integrity are the two most important things to him. He never turns his back on someone if he knows he can help them. Has a kind of empathy; he's open and friendly, so when people start talking to him they feel he is someone they can confide with.
History: Three years ago during his post-grad year at high school Kai was shot in the back during a school shooting. He had taken the bullet to protect his girlfriend, Audra. Thankfully, nobody had died during the incedent, but it had been frightenning for everyone. During his recovery in the hospital he had begun to see strange things. As time went on he came to the conclusion that these things were in fact ghosts. He never told his girlfriend, Audra, about it because he was afraid she would think he was crazy. As the years went by his affinity with spirits had grown to the point where he could communicate with them. Kai is currently attending his third year in college and his girlfriend just started her first year. During the shooting three years ago Kai had promised that if they survived he would marry Audra when they both finish college, and he intended to keep that promise.

History: pretty average life. The only thing abnormal was one day when he was 12 his parents where drining him home, but they got into a wreck. Shiro almost died. Now from then on he sees ghost, but thinks he's going crazy and doesn't tell anyone.

Maki, if your character can see ghosts you can't just put "pretty average life" where it says history. You have to put some thought into it. People can only see ghosts if they've had a near death experience, so try to think of something to put there. Also, I've read a bit of the Bleach storybook you and a bunch of other people have been writing in. You should know right now that you can't just write one or two sentences and post it. You should have a minimum of one or two paragraphs in your posts.

Ayumi and I are very... how should I put it... passionate about this sequel and we won't like it if somebody decides to chicken out half-way through. Do you understand? (Sorry if I seem a little strict.)

The only thing I'm concerned about with you at the moment, Maki, is your grammar. Storybooks are supposed to be fun, but their main purpose is to help you develop your writing skills, so you should write for a storybook the same way you would if you wrote your own novel. If you don't put that effort into it you won't learn anything.

Plus, it'll distract us when we read your posts and end up not understanding everything you wrote. So just try to touch up on your grammar a bit, if not for us then for yourself.

History: Three years ago, she was saved from a bullet by her boyfriend, Kai. During his stay in the hospital, she visited him every day and made sure he stayed caught up with his school work. Now, they are in college, they are still dating and serious about the plans to marry, but she can tell something is on Kai's mind...

Extra: Kestrel is blind. (Is that okay, Dynamo? I figured she could maybe sense the ghosts and feel them rather than actually see them when that becomes necessary but I can change it if you like.)

College Program: English Literature as major with music as minor

Can See Ghosts?: No but she believes in them and has written a fictional tale concerning them. It is published under the name 'Raven Myres' and also covers non-fictional aspects such as the science behind theories of their existence.

Family: Her father, Adam Plyth, and her grand-parents. Kestrel's mother died of cancer when Kestrel was twelve and it was about this time that she began her obsession with the super-natural, particularly ghosts.

Appearance: She has pale, blue-grey eyes that appear slightly glazed and she never looks directly at people but her condition generally goes unnoticed at first. She has long, black hair. Her skin is a touch pale but she has an attractive figure.

Personality: Kestrel is very calm and sweet. She has a gentle nature, a soft intelligence and is a touch distant at times but friendly. She has a habit of not addressing people directly but rather making vague, general statements.

History: Kestrel strongly believes that her mother is still present in the world because she needs to. Kestrel was born blind and her father was too busy, struggling through a career as a failing artist but her mother helped her learn to read braile, to play instruments and eventually how to type on an old, re-constructed type-writer.

Appearance: medium height, dark curly hair that she keeps to just below her chin. Freckles and grey eyes.

Personality: bubbly, verging on odd. She loves helping people. She isn't really a party-goer, so she isn't out going in that sense, but she loves meeting new people and making friends. She doesn't drink, smoke, etc., because she simply doesn't need to. She usually keeps a clear head, and can enjoy herself easily in any situation. Not incredibly brave, she doesn't think, then again, she hasn't had many chances to decide.

History: well, normal really. No funny raping or shooting going on here. She's always wanted to study abroad, so she's come to Canada, and is enjoying a nice, easy, normal student life.

Umm... can I be a home-schooled teenager living on the campus due to a parent being a teacher or something. I really don't like writing from an older person's point of view, and I don't actually know how the college system works.

Can See Ghosts?: Nope, but she often goes along with things so well it's hard to tell.

Family: Dad's a college teacher, she also has six brothers in different colleges.

Appearance: Short hair which she changed colour quite often, currently dark red. Round green eyes and a small nose. She has two piercings in one ear, four in the other, and a fake lip ring.

Personality: She's mostly a listener, and prefers watching things than taking part. She often says things randomly, and has an incredibly overactive imagination.

History: Kid of one of the teachers. She and her brothers grew up on the college, and she rarely leaves the grounds. Because of this, her brothers grew resentful and don't contact eachother anymore. Her strongest memory of being off campus was when one of her brothers took her to the beach, where she almost drowned but a stranger saved her. The next day she saw that he had drowned the previous morning, hours before he saved her. That's when she got her overactive imagination and slightly distorted sense of reality.

Stella: I'll forgive you if you let us know beforehand when you're going to be inactive. That goes for the rest of you all, too. If you're inactive for 7 days without telling us why, you're characters are as good as dead.

Tag: You know, that's not such a bad idea. Having a kid as one of the characters would definitely help add some diversity to the storybook.

Wow, including me we already have seven people. I just hope that number won't be getting smaller anytime soon. Anyway, now that Ayumi, my "storybook partner", has posted her character's profile we can get started. I'll go first...
