He was now dressed in a black shirt, and grey sweats. Running on a track, Shiro hated running. The way it made his throat burn and his lungs ache. If he had a choice he's rather aviod running all together.
But unfortunately he needed a credit in this class to graduate, so he sucked it up everyday and ran. The coach was quite cruel. Making everyone run nonstop and not even lifting one little finger to do anything. In fact the coach was rather fat and round. Shiro thought he only became a coach to enjoy the pain of others, believeing being a gym coach was one of the closest things to being a dictator.
Passing the starting point yet again, Shiro grabbed another plasic cup filled with water. At least he wouldn't die of thirst.
Kai looked in the rearview mirror. The monster was gone. They were safe, for now. He pulled over onto the side of the street and turned off the car. His forehead was covered in sweat.
"Kai..." He turned to look at Audra. Her face was full of worry. "What's wrong with you?"
Kai closed his eyes and let out a ragged sigh. "Audra, remember when I was shot in high school?"
"Of course, I could never forget something that horrible."
"When I was recovering in the hospital strange things started happening to me."
Now that he mentioned it, Audra remembered that he had started acting strange ever since she first visited him in the hospital. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"Do you believe that having a near death experience can cause you to whitness peranormal events?"
"What, you mean like seeing ghosts?" she asked. "They aren't real, Kai."
"Yes, they are." Kai gave her the full weight of his eyes. "And I can see them."

I stared at him for the longest time, letting his gaze penetrate mine. He was so firm with what he was saying, and his eyes weren't lying; they were still dialated with his fright. He was so pale and sweaty, too.
He was serious. He was not lying.
I leaned across the space between us and took him in my arms. He was trembling in my embrace, and I hated seeing him like that. "I had no idea...Kai, why didn't you say something earlier? Why haven't you told me before?"
"I was afraid...I thought you would turn away from me, think I was crazy...hell, maybe I am - "
I stared at him. "You are not crazy! Don't talk like that! And listen to me: you can tell me whatever you want, and I'll listen. You can talk to me about anything! Okay? I'll always be here."
He nodded slowly, relaxing bit by bit.
"Trade places. I'll drive."
And we did. I got in the driver's seat, took control, and brought him back to the dorms. To my dorm.
I was not going to leave him like that. Absolutely not.

(I forgot to mention something else about the creature. It has a hole in its chest. I'll edit my other post.)
Kai had relaxed a bit by the time they made it back to Audra's dorm, but he was still shaking. She had never seen him like this before. Kai was a brave person, he always kept his cool. Hell, he had thrown himself in front of a gun to save Audra's life without a moment's hesitation. Whatever he had seen tonight must have been terrifying.
"Sit down, I'll go get you some water." Kai nodded and went to Audra's bed as she retrieved a cup from her cupboard and started filling it with water from the bathroom sink. She gave the water to Kai and sat down beside him. "Are you feeling any better?"
Kai took a sip of the water and said. "A little."
"Kai, what did you see back there?" She couldn't help but ask. She wanted to know what it was that scared him so badly.
"Get me a paper and pen and I'll show you."
Audra got up and looked for the materials he had asked for. She came back with one of her sketchbooks and drawing pencils. Kai took the book and pencil and found an empty page to draw on. As he drew he said, "Ever since I started seeing ghosts they always appeared before me as people. What I saw tonight was no human." When he was finished he turned the book so Audra could see. "This is what I saw."

"He's coming over!" Sally hissed. Kestrel listened carefully to his confident, solid step.
"Good evening ladies, I take it you're all going out to a late night lecture?" The man's voice dripped with sarcasm that beat against the ground like rain but there was a silent, thunderous laughter just waiting to break out. Kestrel decided that she liked this man though she was not sure why.
"That's right, professor," Sally replied, her tone also dropping towards defeated sarcasm. "And I suppose you're taking it?"
"Not at all," professor Hill negated, "I'm going for a drink." A few more steps accompanied this and then he paused, turning back.
"I don't think we've had the pleasure of meeting?" The voice was closer now and Kestrel could smell text books, paper, ink and... curry? She looked up and smiled.
"That's Kestrel," Sally said. "She's just started, Is taking English, aren't you Kes?"
"That's right," Kestrel replied.
"Kestrel... Kestrel, I'm sure there's a Kestrel on my register. Must have flown in through the window..." Professor Hill chuckled to himself.
"Well, it was nice to meet you, sir." Kestrel said.
"Don't stay up too late, ladies."
As Professor Hill began to walk away Kestrel heard the rhythme in his footsteps falter. Before she could ask if something was the matter she felt something. It pushed at the back of her mind like something calling out to her.
When she concentrated on the sensation she could feel something like a fire burning off into the distance. It burned so strong and clearly it was as if she could see it.
And she did, she saw the flame. For the first time in her life she could see. The world was still black in her eyes, but within all that darkness she could see a blue fire in the shape of a creature. It was a few miles away, but she could still feel it.
(Here's what I was thinking. You said you wanted your character to be able to sense the ghosts because she's blind, right kitty? Well, that got me thinking about a character in a game called Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II. This character was blind, too, but she was part of a species that could litterally see the Force. I was thinking Kestrel can be like that. She's blind, but she can see the ghosts' spiritual energies. What do you think?)

That sounds pretty cool. But let's have it hit and miss for now, okay? In fact, I think I have some ideas of how to work with this and by the way, anyone is more than welcome to see the ghost of her mother hovering near her or watching her.
I felt my eyes almost pop out of my head when I saw the monster he'd sketched. "Que el tina?!" I forced myself to swallow, hard. "What is it?!"
He shrugged.
I studied the picture carefully, taking in every detail of it. This was no ghost; it looked more like a demon or devilspawn. That was it. Devilspawn. Nothing friendly, more than likely.
"It was huge...tall as those houses we were talking about," Kai half whispered. "It was looking around, searching...hunting."
"For what?"
"I don't know."
I moved my hand to his back and started lightly massaging him, comforting him. "Maybe it will move on, leave. You're safe with me. I promise."

(Alright, kitty. I'll let you come up with something. Sorry for writing my last post without asking you about it first.)
(Also, what language did Audra just use, Ayumi? Is it Spanish?)
Kai relaxed a bit when Audra started messaging his back with her hand. He looked at her and asked, "Can I stay here for the night?"
"Of course you can, Kai."
Kai smiled and pulled Audra in for a kiss. "Thank you. I just need to go back to my dorm and get changed."
"Do you want me to come with you?" Audra asked.
"Thanks, but I think I can do this on my own. Besides, you need to get changed, too." If it had been any other time Audra might have made a hint toward sex, but not tonight. Kai was too shaken up by what happened, it wouldn't be appropriate at the moment. "I'll be back in a few minutes," he said before getting up and walking out the room.
Kai made his way back to the girls' dorm building after changing into a T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. As he walked across the campus he saw someone standing by the fountain. At first he thought he was just imagining it, but as he got closer he could see the man more clearly. He wore a black Japanese style kimono and had long silver hair.
Kai stopped when he saw the sheathed katana at the man's waist. It was instinctive, when he saw someone holding a weapon his brain said 'danger.' But, there was something about the man that made him seem soft, not at all dangerous. Kai approached the man. "Hey, you there!"
The man turned to face him. He seemed surprised to see Kai.
"I don't know why you're on the campus, but if security catches you holding that weapon they're going to call the police," Kai told him.
"You can see me?" the man asked.
"Of course I can see you, why wouldn't I?" At first Kai thought it was a silly question to ask, then it dawned on him. "Wait, you mean I shouldn't be able to see you?"
"No human should be able to see me," the man said.
"So, does that mean you're a ghost?" The man didn't look anything like a ghost should have looked. He looked in everyway real and alive, flesh and all.
"It's rare to find a human who can see us," the man said. "What's your name?"
"Kai."
"Hello, Kai. My name is Ichidan Hatsuga."
"You don't look like the rest of the ghosts I normally see," Kai said.
"That's because I'm not a normal spirit. I'm a death god."

I sighed, looking at the clock again. He'd been gone for far too long...it was nearly half an hour later.
What if he'd panicked again?
I grabbed my housecoat - royal blue with a Chinese dragon on each sleeve and the back - and flipflops and left. He had to be somewhere. Hopefully unharmed.
"Kai?" I called as I made it to the main level. No where. I continued to call out to him as I stepped onto the courtyard, looking. Finally, I found him standing by a fountain, alone but talking...to thin air.
No... I reminded myself. He can see spirits.
"Kai?" I spoke kindly. "Is...is it friendly? The spirit you see?"

*wow guys sorry...I had a soccer game but i'm totally dedicated now.*
Hill-
Hill left the girls and suddenly felt something strange. A nagging thought in the back of his head-something was coming. He walked another block and found himself in a housing subdivision. There was a boy and girl walking down the sidewalk and suddenly the street went black. He hid himself in the bushes as the girl and boy ran off. He was almost certain that one of them could see it. He waited for the Devilspawn to pass before continuing on. He decided to skip out on the drink and just head home-it was closer. His house was at the end of the street which was probably why the Devilspawn was there. It could smell her.
Hill turned on the kitchen light and poured some cold coffee into a mug on the table. The morning paper was on the table, he glanced at it absentmindedly before feeling her presence.
"Keagan, I told you I would be home late. Shouldn't you be in bed?" He put the coffee down and looked at the kitchen doorway where his daughter stood, slightly trasparent-the only reminder to him that she was dead.
"Daddy, it was here, it was looking for me." her voice was shaking.
"It's gone now-go to bed."
"It's going to come back, it always comes back!" she was really afraid.
He knelt down until he was at Keagan's eye level, "I promise it is not going to hurt you. Now please go to bed." She wiped a tear from her cheek and turned to go back to bed. He sighed before opening his breafcase to grade today's papers. It would be back.
*I hope this is okay...question-can the people who see the ghosts touch them? do the ghosts appear the same as when they died? can they remember things?*
All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will come of it.
