Extremely true in many ways actually. But not perfect.

(BTW did you know that they actually lived mostly above ground before Galbitorix. *gasp* They usually only lived underground when they were mining.)

You mean like Tolkien's?

Now I'm starting to question whether you read Lord of the Rings.

(It depends on who's asking)

All races in Eragon say the same. Elves are racist, too.

No, Urgals don't think so. Plus a lot of people, (humans and elves) think they're just extremely stubborn. (not the same thing as mentally challenged)

They have a longstanding feud with the Elves, for no apparent reason.

Nonetheless, the point stands. He can give whatever reason but it's there.

I guess it depends on your definition of longstanding.

Elves are good magic, bow, tall, pointy ears and came from the sea, also must go back there one time. Thy are immortal too.

If they don't believe in a god then they would have to have an explanation where they came from. And of course they want to go back, if they make it sound so good.

Star Wars set in middle-earth. There's more too. That article is very true :)

Only in the first book.
Admiration: Our polite recognition of another's resemblance to ourselves.

Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

Confidence: the feeling a person has before he fully understands the situation.

Shin: A device for finding furniture in the dark.

The books are bent to the side politics. Yea Urgals are just peaceful, bloodthirsty at times but are not racist. Though then again the humans and elves are racists against the Urgals, as they would most likely kill the Urgals if they saw them.

I think Poalini tried to make us understand that the elves believed that they too naturally evolved to the state they are in now.

True but the second book is also kind of star wars bent and the third one.

Can you please clarify?

Also, apparently in the third book...

They go to that living elvish tree...Menoa, that's it. They go to the Menoa tree and ask for its help. But it refuses; it doesn't like humans all that much and is interested only in the forest. Also, it doesn't involve itself in human wars. Then Eragon+co. point out that Galbatorix will burn down the forest, so the tree agrees to help them.

Wait...what? Just call it the Menoa-Ent and Sarumanbatorix.

 I can't believe you said that.

Saying that dwarfs in stories are cliche is the same thing as saying that humans are cliche or that elves are cliche, orks are cliche... I could go on forever.

What exactly makes dwarfs so cliche?

I love all super natural races.. humans are soooooooooooo boring.

I must comment to that tree thing:

The tree doesen't actually walk does it, or is it an ent, or is it helping them in the fight.. it only gives them information... maybe it was taken from LOTRI butt it is so different that i can let it pass.

Well done. Aside from humans which are acceptable (since they are not fantastical, but can fit into fantasy) the rest became fantastical thanks to Tolkien. He invented orcs, the tall, pointy-ear elves with magic and bows, and little dwarves with long beards. Where's the originality in that?

I love all super natural races.. humans are soooooooooooo boring.

Then make your own as opposed to taking others. The only reason we accept dwarves and elves is ecause so many people use them, following Tolkien's creation.

Tell me this--In "Inheritance", are the Dwarves small miners with big beards, axes and their own language? Do they have a long feud with the elves?

Whatever the reason, just answer yes or no.

So the tree's just there to dispense information? Clichéd and BORING.

I answer yes.

but do not go and talk about things what you know nothing about.

I am a dwarf/elf fanatic, I read a book about them *SOOO PROUD LOL*

So anywayz.

Dwarf... you know like the small dwarfs with beards and like mining... those are actually VERY old,

Okay the elf thing is a bit contrary, but the elves were actually different in many cultures.

Tolkien merely just took some of the elf believes, merged a few of them and put in a few of his own ideas.... the elves were not his invention... technically.

Okay I must agree with you in the tree thing.

but don't come to me to talk about who invented the mythical creatures we know today.

the ones we know today are just a variation of the things our great ancestors told stories about.

I'm really disappointed in Brisingr- more than I would have been, I mean. After all, I read it to find out what happened to Galbatorix- and what do I find? He's made the trilogy into a cycle! He owed it to us to complete it, and now he's going to put us through another seven-hundred pages just so I can find out what happens to Murtaugh and Galbatorix. Someone needs to talk to him about ending stories.

Give him some slak, people he wrote a best-seller at the age of 15, how may of you have donne that?

Actually, the actual writing part isn't so hard. It's the marketing that makes a bestseller, so any of us could have written one.
