Pets? Ryan's mind went blank. Maybe he had had a pet. Didn't he have a dog back home?

"Um, I think I have a dog."

"What?" she asked. "You think?"

Ryan nodded, and then realized his stupidity. "Oh. I mean, yeah. I have a dog named Lassie."

Lily:

I laughed. "Like Lassie on the T.V. shows?"

He looked at me mortified. I smiled kindly. I wondered why he was acting like this, but I didn't have time to ask.

"Come on. The party for all the new students is starting. Do you want to come with me?"

He nodded. I grabbed his hand and pulled him after me, toward where a lot of people were gathered on the front lawn of Phenix University.

"Would you like to dance?" I asked, holding my breath. Was I being to forward? I hoped not!

Tristan-

"Michigan," I answered, not thinking twice. Adam nodded.

"It must be nice here, compared to the weather there," he commented.

"Oh yes. I love the warm," I agreed enthusiastically.

Adam-

"So I guess you want to know where the good hang out spots are?" he asked. I shrugged. "There are some okay clubs," he said.

I made a face. "Not really my scene. Believe it or not, I'm not that much of a party animal. Medical student and all that."

"Fair enough," Tristan said, rolling his eyes.. "Well, you should be able to get someone to show you round your lectures in the morning, I'm going to go out with some of my friends to catch up on stuff later."

"That's cool," I answered. "I'll just wander round, make some friends of my own."

Dawn---

Dawn slowly walked up to her room and slid her trunk under the bed. She stuck the key in her pocket and made her way to her truck. She had three trunks. One of her beding and stuff, and two of clothes. She was here for a whole year. Unless they got a really really long holiday she didnt' see herself being able to go all the way back to Texas.

When she got to her truck she frowned, she also had those compartment drawer things her mom made her bring.

'To organize your stuff!' Her mom had said. SHe rolled her eyes.

"At least you could've come and helped me get this stuff to my room." She said outloud like her mom was there. She grabbed the next trunk and headed for the dorm yet again.

Channing chuckled a bit to the wording on the pamphlet and grabbed her rucksack, throwing it on her back. She made her way out of the building and over to her dorm building, figuring out which key opened the front door.

Once inside she placed her sunglasses on her head and looked around, taking it all in. She smiled a little, and then headed up the stairs to find her room. She was a bit surprised to find the door already open. Glancing in she saw another girl a few years younger than she.

She made her way in, "Hi."

She tossed her rucksack on the unclaimed bed. She, of course, had more stuff but it was in the car and she wasn't not in the mood to bring it up yet.

"I'm Channing...I'm assuming you are my roommate and not just a random break in?" She chuckled with a smile.

Dawn---

"Yup, I'm the roommate." She smiled standing up and reaching her hand out to the girl. "I'm Dawn!"

"Where are you from?" Channing asked,

"Texas," Dawn smiled, "And you?"


No more chatter, go get the rest of your stuff!

"Well, uh, I've never really been to a dance," Ryan squirmed to get out of this awkward situation. "The only dance I've been to was the high school prom, and even then I didn't dance."

"Oh, well who gives crap? I don't know how to dance either!" She muttered and put her hands on his shoulders.

"But, uh..." he was at loss of words. Struggling to say something, he slid back, and Lily's hands slipped off of his shoulders.

"I can't. I'm sorry. I can't get into a relationship right now. I'm... I'm sorry."

It was the first day of his new life, and already he had disappointed a girl. Ryan walked away slowly, not looking back at Lily's hurt face.

Lily:

I resisted the urge to cry. The only guy who had ever shown any intrest in me, and he had already left. I ran off the dance floor and back to my dorm. I threw myself onto my bed and started crying. It was stupid, I knew, but...he was the only guy who had ever even shown any intrest in me. And now...he probably didn't even like me in the first place. I was being stupid. I was glad there was no one else in the room. I tried to get to sleep...it took several hours, but I finally fell asleep. Tomorrow we started classes. I knew I'd need my rest.

*sure thing TN*

"Yeah, I'm going to go have a look around," I said to Tristan. "See you around."

I went down in the lift. There was a girl already in there, who I had seen earlier.

"Hey Dawn," I said. "How're you?"

"Good," she answered. "On the way to fetch my stuff up to my room."

"I'll help you then," I said, happy to help.

Dawn--

"You don't have to." She laughed as the doors to the lift opened.

"No, I want to. Where is it?" He asked, she led him to the truck and pulled the tailgate down.

"That trunk needs to go. I can carry it or the shelving units. You pick." She smiled,

"I'll take the trunk." He pulled it out and she grabbed the two shelving units following him back to the lift.

Adam-

"What floor are you on?" I asked her getting into the lift.

"Third," she said, pressing the button. I smiled at her.

"Your first year here too?" I asked.
