Tyrant--

Tyrant stepped back into a dark shadow pulling hte girl with him. He saw a group walking towards them and his mind spun. He spun her around pushing her against the wall. PUtting his head next to her neck he listened.

"Play along. YOu can kill me after they leave." He whispered.

"It's just a couple, let's go!!" Someone yelled. "LEave them alone."

Renian~

Renian blushed furiously as the human put his head next to her neck. She swallowed hard as the other men walked away. As soon as the men's footsteps faded Renian pushed him back, falling backwards herself, and taking a deep breath.

Tyrant---

"I was gonna move." He replied, he didn't know why he hadn't stepped back before. Something just wouldn't let him. "I can take you the rest of the way, or if you want me gone I'll let you get on by yourself." He said, he didn't want to scare her anymore then he already had. And it was likely she wouldn't want to kill him now.

Renian~

Renain shook her head and looked around, her hand still on the twin katanas that hung off her waist. "Either way is fine," she choked, begining to walk. Half of her wanted him to follow...but, the other half wanted to stay alone and be untrusting to anyone or anything that wasn't a half-breed demon.

Tyrant---

"I'll show you the way." He said walking ahead of her. He would let her chose how close she got to him, he didn't want to scare her anymore then he already had. "If you want me gone just tell me."

Renian~

Renian shook her head again. "I-I'd like to know the way," she told him. He nodded and continued to walk. She took a deep breath and said, "Renian."

"What?" He looked back at her confused.

"I am Renian," she held her hand out, "and you?"

Tyrant--


Tyrant looked at her hand and took it. "Tyrant." He smiled, "Let's go."

Renian~

Renian smiled and gripped his hand tighter, beginning to run behind him. You can! You can trust him! Her mind squeeled happily.

Tyrant--

WHen they got out of the tunnel Tyrant stopped to let his eyes adjust. RRenian ran into him and he stumbled forward.

"Whoa," He laughed catching himself.

**Sorry it took so long. I've been at a state convention for the past two days, and didn't have time to get on.**

**Okay, to my understanding, Dragon Knights have wings? Do we have to have wings?**

Karana

I had been up since dawn, but I was still only partly-ready for the day. My clothes were clean and fresh, but I had not bothered to pull up the mass of annoying red hair or slip into my boots. Breakfast was the next thing on my to-do list.

Breakfast almost always came last for me. Being of an important family, I had to take care of those "important" matters first, which left nearly no time for myself. I was surprised that I managed to stay as slim and strong as I am.

I heard someone knock on the door, but I didn't have to ask who it was. The deluded aura of a demon was familiar to me, for that same creature was my best friend.

"Come in, Kai!" I called as I strode into my kitchen, getting ready to make wild-berry breakfast cakes.

(Dragon Knights HAVE to have wings, it's what symbolizes their connection to the Earth Dragons. By the way, the term Earth Dragon refers to the five dragons of Fire, Thunder, Ice, Darkness and Light. It has nothing to do with the actually element of earth itself. While all Dragon Knights have wings, they also have the ability to hide them under their skin so they can appear normal to blend into a crowd. Does that answer your question?)

Kai opened the front door and walked in. He found Karana striding around the kitchen making breakfast. "Morning, Kai," she said.

"Morning," he replied. "We still up for practice today?" Kai and Karana both practiced fighting with some kind of weapon. Karana preferred her bow while Kai liked his rusty old long sword. They often practiced together in a clearing in the slums of Kuri City. They even carved a bull's-eye into the side of an old burned down house for Karana to practice with her bow.

"Yeah, I just need to eat breakfast first." Karana got her food together and started eating at the table. Kai sat across from her. "You eat anything yet?" she asked.

"Just a piece of bread," Kai told her.

Karana handed him one of her breakfast cakes. "Here, eat this. I'm surprised you haven't shrunk to the size of pole from how little you eat."

Kai took the breakfast cake and broke off a piece. "From what I know half-breeds can survive certain conditions that would be harmful to a normal human. Even so, with mom working at the flower shop and my job at the garrison sharpening weapons we're barely making enough money as it is." Kai's ears perked up when he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. "You're father's coming."

Karana sighed, her father treated Kai just as bad as everyone else in this city. She turned in her seat to see her father walk into the kitchen. "Morning, father."

"Good morning, Karana." He glanced at Kai and asked, "What is that doing in our house?"

"Father, Kai is a person, not a thing! Call him by his name!"

"A half-breed like him is not worthy of my respect."

Karana shoved her chair back and stormed out of the room, Kai followed quietly behind her. "Let's get out of here, Kai."

Renian~

Renian laughed, her mind still squeeling in excitement. "So which way?" She looked around, noticing the weren't around any major activity.

TYrant---

"Well, where do you live? on the west side or the east side??" He asked smiling down at her. If she didn't want to kill me I'd say she is beautiful. He banshed the thought quickly.

Karana

I snatched my boots off the floor and shoved them on before grabbing a leather band from my dresser. I could pull my hair up on the way to the clearing.

"Karana, please, calm down," Kai tried.

"No, Kai," I snapped, taking hold of my bow and quiver of arrows. "You're my friend, and I am not going to sit here and listen to him talk like that! I'd rather move out of here permanently than face that kind of treatment towards you!"

I turned and saw him standing in my path, in the doorway, and keeping me still in his gaze. I was beginning to tremble in my anger, and I felt my wings begin to creep out of their hiding place in my back.

"I don't like it that everyone hates you, and you're very lucky he hasn't criticised me yet today just for being your best friend," I whispered.

Kai let out a sad sigh and said, "I'm used to it now. I'm not happy that people single me out just because I'm different, but I've made peace with the fact that I can't change what I am." Kai could see Karana was still upset. He put on a smile and said, "Let's just forget it and go to the clearing."

She nodded. "Okay."


As they walked down the street Kai said, "I had a weird dream last night."

"Oh yeah? What about?"

"I saw this guy standing in a pitch black room. I can't remember his face, but he had long black hair and wore the same clothes as me."

"Did he do anything?" she asked.

"No, he just stood there."

"That is weird," Karana said as they entered the clearing where they practiced. "Maybe it means something?"

"Maybe," Kai said. "While I was having the dream I felt like I knew the guy. I've never seen him before in my life, but it felt like I've always known him." Kai shook his head. "Whatever. Let's just get started."
