(Wow, I haven't even started the storybook and already it has 2 stars! I'm going to try and start this off. The one thing I've noticed in the past with storybooks is that the hardest post is always the first one, because you have no previous posts to reference from. It's kinda like starting your first chapter.)
(Oh, Ayumi. I noticed you haven't posted your character's history yet. If it's okay, I have an idea of what to do to fill in that gap. If you don't like what I say about Karana, just tell me and I can edit my post.)
The sun shone through the worn curtains, creating warm sunbeams in Kai's room. It was so warm in his bed, he never wanted to wake up. But when the sunbeams moved to his face he didn't have much of a choice. He sat up and stretched. His ear was suddenly itchy, so he lifted his foot and scratched it with his toes like a dog.
Kai wasn't human. His mother is human, but his father was a great wolf demon. That made Kai a half-breed, a species that is neither human or demon. there's virtually no place for half-breeds in this world. Humans hate half-breeds because of their association to demons, and demons hate half-breeds because they are seen as weaker forms of demons. Humans hate them and demons try to kill them. The only time a half-breed isn't considered a monster is when its parents are made up of a human and an elf.
Kai rolled out of bed and grabbed his favorite red kimono style shirt and pants. This kimono was actually made for Japanese swordsmen called samurai. Horagothien is currently at war with the great nation in the west so many merchants sneak to and from either continent to sell merchandise, mostly to smuggle weapons. Kai found one such merchandise rolled up in an ally. He had gotten his mother to sew it back together for him and now he never leaves the house without it. The reason he likes it so much is because of how little movement restriction it has.
His mother, Ryana, was still asleep in her room. Kai didn't want to wake her so he quietly crept into the kitchen, found a piece of bread to eat and left the house.
Kai made his way through town, and as he went he caught many hateful stares from people passing by. He did his best to ignore them. His wings itched under his skin. Neither him nor his mother knew why he had wings, but he did. His mother believed Kai was a Dragon Knight. Kuri City believed very heavily on the existence of Dragon Knights. If Kai had been a normal human he would have been praised by the entire city as a hero. But a Dragon Knight who is a half-breed is unheard of by these people and treated as something similar to blasphemy. Basically, being something other than human and a Dragon Knight at the same time is a crime punishable by death, and so is harboring the Dragon Knight. If anyone ever discovered his secret not only would he be killed, but so would his mother for taking care of him.
He was on his way to Karana's house. Karana lived in the slightly more rich part of the city, away from the slums. She was an elf, and her parents were emissaries which made her family important. Kai had lived in this city with his mother for as long as he could remember. For a very long time he had no friends. One day, when he was 10-years-old, he saw a group of girls picking on the 7-year-old Karana. When Kai approached to tell them to stop one of the girls screamed, "Monster!" and they all ran away. Kai was hurt by the accusation, but was surprised when Karana looked at him without so much as a hint of fear. They've been friends ever since.
Kai arrived at Karana's house. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer it.
(As you can see in this post, Kuri City is full of zealots who all but worship Dragon Knights. But a Dragon Knight that is anything but human, even one that's an elf, is considered blasphemy and punishable by death. For our human Dragon Knights though, (Tyrant) it'd be better for the story if your character kept it a secret. We don't want people worshiping him the whole story, you know what I mean?)
(Anyway, I hope this helps some of you think of what to post for your characters.)

**I'm going to post a regular day for Renian...(nothing else to do)**
Renian~
Renian dragged herself up, the sunlight beaming into her eyes. She groaned and walked to the door, pulling a cloak and hood over herself. So hungry! She thought as she walked swiftly towards the market.
As she neared a small meat booth a voice called to her, "You there, girl!" The accent was thick and almost ineligible. Renian turned and saw a guy in a cloak, behind one to the building.
"Hai? (Yes?)" She asked, concluding that this man was obviously Japanese.
The man looked suprised as he spoke, "Chotto kochi kite! (Come here!)"
Renian shook her head and began to walk away, but the man grabbed her arm. "Te-o dokete-yo! (Get your hands off me!)" Renian shouted. The man jumped backwards as she swung her arm at him. Noticing he was far enough she took off through the crowd as fast as she could, a few people chasing her, thinking she was a Jap. Her cloak fell off as she ran. People began to yell at her as she ran through them.
She looked around trying to find something to jump onto. A brothel straight ahead was just low enough. She climbed up the boxes and jumped onto the brothel, still running.
Tyrant watched as the girl ran through the crowd. He frowned, why did everyone have to be so rash to everyone else. He had noticed her ears though no matter how hard she tried to hide them. He looked where she had disappeared, he knew most of the men that were following her wouldn't go in there. He walked towards where it was and went around to the back. He waited until he saw a cloaked figure slip out the back door looking around. He saw the girl's tail twitch underneath the cloak.
"You know it didn't help you any by slipping into there just to get away from them." He said looking at her from the shadows.
Renian yelped and jumped backwards, hitting her head on the side of the door. "And to think I wasn't gonna get hurt this time," she hissed, rubbing the back of her head. She sighed and looked up at the boy. "I know that," she growled in response to his statement.
Renian shook her head quickly, "No, I'm fine." She stood up and brushed her cloak off, scowling at the stains it held. "Stupid townsfolk, hate everything that's not full blood," she growled under her breath, hoping the boy hadn't heard. Renain pulled the hood back over her ears even though it wouldn't help with the tears and snags it had in it. She sighed and shut the large wooden door, begining to climb on top of the building. Surely she could get home safely as long as she stayed on building tops.
Tyrant looked up at her. "Wait up. I know a faster and safer way to get through this town. Just tell me where you live and I can get you there." He called, PLEASE!!!! He didn't know why, but he didn't want her to leave. He was tired of being alone.
Ryth sighed, kicking a pebble as he sat down, and then looked out at the horizon. The sun was just beginning to rise and Ryth wasn't any better off than he had been yesterday. He hadn't found out anymore about his parents, and he was still living in his house, hoping no one would find out he was underage.
He ran a hand through his hair, bewildered. He had never lived life this way before, not knowing what would happen next. He wondered what had become of his parents, and why they had disappeared.
But as usual, he came to nothing. No new ideas, no leads, nothing. He slouched back, leaning his head against a rock, and tried to clear his thoughts. He got frustrated if he thought too much.
It didn't work. He still wondered, he was still uncertain.
His eyes snapped open as he heard footsteps behind him.
Renian looked down at the boy from the forth highest box next to the building. Maybe you should trust him. 'The little person inside her brain' insisted. Renian jumped down from the box, landing in front of the boy. "I live right outside the town," she growled, "this better not be a trap."
Tyrant frowned, "This is most definatly not a trap. And to prove it, here, this is the only weapon I have on me." He said handing her his dagger. "Don't lose it." He turned and headed towards one of the tunnels that ran under the town. He slipped down in the hole and helped her down in after him before hurrying into the darkness. He felt along the walls until his hands touched a lantern. Finding a match he lit it and continued through the tunnel regretting giving her the dagger. Who knew what or who could be down here.
Suddenly there was a shout from the end of the tunnel. I knew it! She calmly handed the boy his dagger back and reached for the twin blades that hung off her waist.
(I'm still waiting for Ayumi to post something. In the meantime I'm going to tell you part of the reason why I had all the characters start off in a city like this. It isn't so they can learn to hate all humans, it's so they have their own experience with oppression. With this experience they can understand how nobody ever wants to be treated like this, which will make them rise up to become the heros they are meant to be.)
(That make sense? Actually, when I started this storybook the only reason I had for starting off in this city is because it's the city I started with in the book I'm writing. But in the back of my head I WAS thinking about what I just explained.)
Chicken <-- Egg <-- Rocket Powered Fist Take that, science!
Renian nodded, still eying the boy suspiciously. His actions don't point to any trap...that he's knowledgeable of at least. Suddenly a shadow past on the wall next to them, making her jump and fall backwards.
"Quiet! I think I heard something!" Another voice yelled. Renian quickly got to her feet and got closer to the boy.
