Reed-

I walked into the woods for some thinking time. I hadn't told them about the Erasers being sent from the whitecoats and I wasn't sure if I was going to. I felt like I was going crazy. All that I had learned was tossing in my head and I didn't know whether or not to tell them the truth. Then I heard someone land behind me. I whirled around to see a young girl mutant.

"I was wondering whether you've seen my sister, Maximum Ride, ?" the girl asked quickly.

I couldn't speak or move, I knew in just a few seconds my world could come crashing down around me. This girl's name was Angel, and if the rumors were true, she could read minds.

"Oh, please!" she said. Then she stared at me. I knew she was searching my mind. After a few seconds she looked up and said, "Thank you for your help!". Then she took off, circling back only to yell at me, "You really should tell them!". And then she was gone.

I wanted sleep, more than anything. But my mind was working overtime. My gaze drifted and I saw Reed staring upwards. Fear filled me and I jerked my head upwards. Growling slightly, I climbed down the tree and headed towards Reed.

I'd seen Blade earlier and decided to be a better bird mutant and apologize too. Guilt was starting to eat me up.

“You okay, Reed?” He whipped around.

“Yeah.” Reed relaxed visibly and I smiled.

“Hey, um, sorry about earlier. I was scared.” I lowered my head in shame. “I should have given you the benefit of the doubt…” Tears were starting to blur my vision. “Well, uh, goodnight.” I said before he could say anything.

I stalked off, shutting my eyes so the tears wouldn’t come flooding out. I flew up into a tree and bit my trembling lip. Swallowing the lump that had formed in my through, I tried to calm myself. With bitterness, I realized that I had to be stronger to survive out here.

I couldn't sleep, for some reason. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen, something very very bad. My eyes fluttered. My eyelashes were too long, kinda like my wings. Unlike the others my wings were black and so was my hair. I flew up into a tree trying not to wake the others. The other one who actually wasn't sleeping was Reed. I was avoiding him, I didn't know exactly why. But I just didn't, couldn't trust him, not with my life or the others anyway. I watched out for anything coming our way. I squatted in the tree looking for anything that would come toward the floor, like a night watcher. I looked at Reed, 'cause I was curious of what he was doing and we locked eyes. I quickly turned away not wanting to meet his icy gaze again. I looked down and saw ZT and Colt slump against the opposite side of the tree I was crouched in. The blood from my side was dried and the wound had closed up. I was grateful to still be alive. But I still had to look out for the others.

*Okay, fine, I'll do this again.*

"Yeah, food would be good," Mayze said. "I think that everyone will be hungry after the battle."

Together, we walked into the forest.

Once we were alone, I took her hand.

We looked for a while, coming up mostly with berries. I spotted a few roots, but they weren't any good, Mayze said. She found some edible herbs, but we decided that they would be useless, so we tossed them.

We had almost filled up the reed basket that we had, when she reached out to pull a larger fruit off a tree. When she turned back towards me to put it in the basket, I leaned in closer to her, pulling her into a hug.

I wasn't sure if it was the right thing, but it might've been the last time we were alone together for a while.

Then I leaned down and kissed her. The fruit dropped out of her hand.

I wasn't sure how I knew to do it--maybe I had seen it in a movie at the School... maybe it was instinct.

I waited for her to do something. ***COUGHCOUGH!!***

(yeeeaaah! go ZT! haha anyways...)
[Blade]

Silence. The breathing of sleeping flock members, the whispers that told the slightest shift in posture...

Blade couldn't sleep, but that seemed to be the norm around here. ZT and Mayze had left together, and she knew for sure Lexy and Reed were awake. Blade had a terrible itch inside her, a burning to get up and MOVE.

She would have been grateful for an Eraser or two. No such luck.

For now, all she could do was think. And think. And most likely sprain her brain. First she thought about the flock as her family, family she hardly knew. But as she had no luck on deciphering that feeling, she moved onto the on-going dilemma named Reed. Trust him? Don't trust him? Believe him? Don't believe him? Accept him? Exclude him?

Thwack him over the head for making you think about him so much?

Reed-

I thought about what Angel had told me. She hadn't gone and ratted on me, which was what I'd expected of her. But why hadn't she told the new Flock about me? It wasn't a question that I could answer. In fact, most of the questions I'd been asking myself lately were unanswerable. But right now I had to answer the worst question in my life. Should I, or should I not tell them about myself? Maybe it was Angel's convincing words, or maybe it was the attachment I felt to the new Flock, but eventually I decided to tell them. The first person I saw I flew down to. I recognized her as Stella, but I didn't stop.

"Do you really want to know the truth on why I'm here?" I asked.

Stella whipped around, clearly surprised by the sound of my voice, and then froze, realizing what I'd just asked.

"Never mind," I said turning away, "just forget it."

But before I had taken two steps, Stella came back to her senses.

"Wait!" she called after me. I turned back around and walked up to her.

"I want you to tell me!" she said firmly.

For the next hour or so I told her about my life. From my first memories to my latest, telling of the last few days in extreme detail. At the end of my life's story, I looked up to see a look of astonishment on Stella's face.

"And so," I said, "now I'm wondering if you'll give me some enlightenment on your side of the story."

I was stunned. Reed had come out like that. He’d trusted me. Fully and completely. It was my turn to do the same.

“Sure.” I tried to smile, but couldn’t with the sudden flow of horrible memories. Swallowing, I began my story.

“I was basically blindfolded for the first 5 or so years of my life. I was the first albino mutant they had, so they didn’t want to ruin my eyes…” I continued for a long while, fighting tears the whole way. And Reed listened to me, just as I hoped I’d listened to him.

By the time I’d finished, I trusted him fully. But one question was rattling around inside my brain.

"Um, what made you tell me all of this, Reed?"

((*hands Woz a cough drop and pats his back* Geez, don't hack up your lungs. Stage crew is consuming all of my free time =P))

((Mayze))

My eyes widen with surprise. I was actually kissing someone, I never thought in my pitiful life that I'd be kissing anyone. I closed my eyes and kissed ZT back. Some how my arms found their way around his neck, his around my waist. The kiss deepened but we broke apart to breathe, we both had apparently forgotten to. I laughed and he grinned at me.

"You dropped your fruit." he informed me. He hesitated a bit before putting his forehead to my cheek, "Do we need it?"

I moved my eyes down to the fruit. It could be eaten. I nodded, "Do I have to move?"

He laughed and reluctantly took his head away from mine. I bent down to pick up the fruit and place it in the basket. As soon as I was standing ZT's hand slid back around my waist, pulling me towards him. I smiled happily and put my head on his chest as we started to walk back to the camp.

Reed-

"I need to know the truth about what's going on," I replied to Stella, "and lying to you guys seemed to be the getting in the way of finding out."

"So you don't think you know what's really going on?" she asked me.

"No, I don't think anyone does, not even the whitecoats." I replied. "By the way, you should really get some sleep while you can." I added.

"But aren't you going to get any?" Stella asked. "You haven't slept much either lately."

"You're right," I replied, "the last time I slept was six years ago." Stella gave me a suspicious look, but it only lasted a second.

I laughed and said, "Just make sure you get better!"

We walked back into camp and passed out the food. There was only one thing left in the basket when we were done... the larger fruit from the tree.

Mayze and I went over to a tree by ourselves and split it.

The flock seemed pretty happy now. Stella and Reed were talking about something, and most of the others were asleep.

I wished that I was asleep... I was tired.

I was glad that my injuries were healing quickly though.

Apparently Mayze had the same thought. She leaned against me and once again fell asleep.
