Bella -- Good --

"That you could," I replied simply, letting my confidence show in my voice. "But the only question is whether or not you will."

Suddenly, before I knew what to think, the man had me against the thick trunk of the tree, a dagger to my neck. The blade pressed against my windpipe, making breathing somewhat difficult.

"Who's to say I won't?" he asked coldly. The battle raged below us -- we were too high up to be noticed.

"No one," I replied, making sure I still held my defiance even in the face of a likely death. I would not let him see my interest in him (granted, I could not always control my eyes), and I would not let him see me fear.

"They why shouldn't I?" he pressed the dagger a little harder to my throat.

"There's no reason of which I know." I replied, as the man pulled back a fraction. "So, what's stopping you then?"

Thyme-Bad

I regarded the girl coldly, wondering if she really thought i would kill her. I knew i should; after all, she was the enemy. But something held me back. I withdrew the dagger slightly.

"What is your name, girl?" i spat, still holding her against the tree.

Caius-Good

I drew my sword, advancing upon a goblin. Creeping close enough, i swung the silver weapon i held in my hand and watched in satisfaction as a goblin head fell to the dust.

I ducked out of the fatal path of a mace held by grubby hands. It whistled harmlessly overhead, followed by a curse. I acted again before the goblin had time to, swinging my sword at its legs. It sank to its knees with a howl of pain and an explosive oath.

I gave it a salute before dealing the killing stroke and spinning to make sure there were no others trying to creep up on me. There were none, but i saw Aedomir fighting the leader of the goblins, a massive troll named Urkla. I ran over to see if i could help.

"Bella," I replied simply. He stared at me for a long moment. "And you have yet to answer my question, Thyme."

His eyes grew wide at the recognition that I knew his name. He didn't know that I could nitpic his mind for nearly any though -- I didn't use this ability often.

"How do you know that?" he snapped.

"That's not of importance," I replied, trying to figure out the best way to turn this situation around.

"You are inhumanly irritating," he said.

"So, why don't you kill me then?"

Thyme - Bad

I growled. "You're just lucky I don't."

Why didn't I? She was the enemy. I was under strict discipline to kill any of the enemy i came across. What i was doing now was treason...so why was I doing it? Why was i risking my life for this mere girl?

She shrugged. "I suppose I am."

I spun on my heels, letting Bella fall to the ground. I was just about to cast the spell that would take me to the battle below when i felt a chill hand grasp my arm.

"You didn't really expect me to disappear taht easily, did you?" I asked, grabbnig Thyme's arm to stop him. He spun on me, giving me a look that held a mixture of irritation, confusion, and admiration.

"Why won't you leave me alone?" he snapped, prying my hand off of his arm.

"Do I need a reason?"

"Yes!"

"But you didn't have a reason for not killing me, so it hardly seems fair..." I let the sentence trail off, watching Thyme curiously.

Thyme - Bad

I snorted. "I have my reasons for not killing you, else you'd already be dead."

"Oh?"

I growled. "Yes, but don't expect me to tell you. You're still the enemy, remember. As am I."

She shrugged. "Yes, but that's surely not stopping you from killing me." she pointed out. I ground my teeth together.

"You're really annoying, you know."

"Yes, I'm fully aware of how annoying I am." I replied, grinning and leaning against the tree trunk.

"Well, good, i'm glad we've got that figured out. Now if you'll excuse me, i must attend to the fight."

"As must I," I replied, jumping off out of the tree just as he did.

"It seems as if you're following me," he said pointedly, glaring at me.

"Perhaps I am?" I suggested, pulling my sword out, spinning around, and cutting off the head of a goblin who was attempting to sneak up on me. When I turned around again, Thyme was holding a staff in the defensive position, preparing to attack.

Urkla vs. Aedomir

For his size, Urkla was fast. He carried a heavy sword, which he used to block Aedomir's first attack. Right away he began showering Aedmir with attacks, throwing his strength behind them in an attempt to make the smaller man fall.
"You will die here and I will put your head on a pike," he promised, a hideous grin on his face.

He did not see that there was another coming to Aedomir's aid, but some of his army did and they hurried to intercept.

Robin
Robin suddenly found himself with no opponents. His eyes took in the carnage around him, and the battle beyond. He turned slowly, looking for something.

Ben.

Where had the large man gone? Though his body did not move, remaining in a defensive stance, his mind scrambled to find the human giant in the battle. Seeing a mace come swinging down to crush a goblin's head, he began walking in that direction.

To his right, a large group of goblins began screaming and hurling threats, forming a sort of wall. Behind them, Aedomir fought the Goblin leader. Robin saw Caius was heading right for them--no doubt intent on coming to their leader's aid. Robin closed his eyes for a moment, when he opened them, he ran after Caius. He didn't feel the bodies he stepped over, he simply set his sights on his ally and the goblins that needed to be removed from the way.

Just as a large goblin jumped at Caius, Robin caught up, sliding his sword into the beast and throwing the body aside. "I'll help you," he said.

OOC: heh. Hope that okay Aedomir. I am not so good with fighting scenes. =P

Aedomir vs. Urkla

Aedomir smashed a heavy blow into the troll's side. It roared and leapt apart, sending Aedomir soaring into the sky like a canonball. He came down with a thud, and smashed into the stone. He tasted blood as his tongue passed across his lips. He carefully lifted himself up. Before he could get hold of his stand, something ahd crashed into his head, throwing back to the ground. He blindly whipped his sword round and heard the troll yell in anger. Aedomir scurried up and began to charge the bleeding, recoiling troll. With a mighty swipe it tumbled backwards into the snow and tumbled down the mountain. Aedomir though he saw it twinge, but it msut have jsut been the snow dirfitng down.

Thyme

I spun, sending spells, hexes, and bolts of energy flying out at the enemy. One approached from behind silently, hoping to catch me off guard. At the last moment i side-stepped, swinging my staff around to block the blow. Raising one hand, i sent a ball of fire into the man's face, watching him sink to the ground, screaming in pain.

So this continued for some time. I slowly began to tire, my spells becoming harder and harder to cast. My movements became less swift, nearly costing me a limb on more than one occasion.

I sensed someone fighting behind me. I finished off the man i was dealing with and turned. The other person spun at the same time. My staff collided with steel as i locked eyes with Bella.

Caius

I nodded towards Robin. "Thank you."

Together we advanced upon our leader and the troll who were locked in fierce combat.

Robin

His body was on fire, but he did not relent. Together he and Caius chopped away the the goblin forces, showing them that numbers meant nothing against skill. By the time Aedomir had sent Urkla tumbling down the mountain, there were few who remained. All around, the goblins began to shriek. Some became more aggressive, seeking to destroy Aedomir's remaining forces; other fled, no longer seeing any reason to stay now that their leader was gone. Robin could not see how many remained on either side of the battle, seeing only that it was coming to an end.

As Robin dispatched those who remained in his way, his mind began to clear. He had survived--he had kept his promise. When the last goblin before him fell, his trance ended and his mind was completely clear of the mindless determination that had pulled him through the battle. Suddenly his sword weighed a ton. Robin's arms began to tremble violently and he let go of the weapon, letting it fall to the stained ground. Gasping, he went on to his knees, the world reeling before his eyes.

Aeodmir

Aedomir took a deep breath, and rose his sword for another clash, but it never came. He opened his eyes partway and shot glances around him. Combat had fallen. Victory. He tasted the bitter scent on his tongue, and nearly raised his hand to initiate a fainal charge, but thought better. The enemy lines were broken, the team needed to move, now.

There wer bodies, cold, decaying bodies, strewn across the ground. He wouldn't if any allies had bee hewn. Just be glad you're alive he thought. Bury the dead, move on. Quick. Now

[i]I stared at Thyme, unsure of what to do. I certainly didn't *want* to attack him, but he was the enemy. Suddenly he grinned at me, almost as if he wanted to make a game out of attacking.

He spun his staff around, attempting to hit my knees. I jumped over the staff, swinging my blade at his head at the same time. He ducked, causing me to narrowly miss. Then he came back up, circling me carefully. I watched him, prepared for any move he might make.

It was almost like dancing, only with weapons.
