Sable: Hitchen

The car raced along the country road, responding effortlessly to the woman's effort. She must have been a very accomplished driver, because the car almost seemed to be driving itself.

"So who are you, and what the heck is going on?" she demanded, taking her eyes off the road and placing them firmly on Sable.

"My name is Sable Smith, and I....gods I wouldn't believe it if you told me it so I doubt you'll believe me when I tell you."

"What!?" she demanded. Abruptly the car swerved to match the twist in the road as they approached a bridge. She had not taken her eyes off of Sable.

"How the hell did you do that!?" he asked.

"Sorry, you know you should really either let me do this all or take over yourself you know." It had not been the woman who had spoken

The woman looked guiltily to Sable, and then seemed to remember that hse was meant to be interrogating him. "Never you mind that! Were you the man who rang me on the phone, telling me to come here to Hitchen, to meet Desmond?"

"No, definitely not!" Sable declared. "I only met Desmond a few minutes ago and it turns out," he indicated towards Janus without even remembering that this woman couldnt see him, "that he's dangerous, knows far too much about me, and was planning to kill you if I hadn't stepped in."

The woman scoffed, "That doesn't sound likely, not even the littlest bit reasonable. Car pull over." At her spoken comman, the vehicle came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the street. The doors flung open and Sable found himself pushed out of the car.

Janus yelled at Sable from inside the car "aske her about her ability, she may not be as crazy or stupid as you, but ask her about it!"
So you're going to kill a god. Sure. But what happens next?

Marianne Saunders, Hitchen.

Marianne sat in the driver's seat, her hands not even resting on the steering wheel now as she looked down at Sable who was standing on the pavement, staring at the car.

"Wait!" Sable protested. "Wait, let's talk." He was looking towards the back seat of the car but then directed his eyes at Anne. "Please."

"About what?" Marianne asked curiously, her body tensing anxiously.

"Your car - it talks. That must involve your ability..."

"Maybe it's a magic car," Marianne replied with a wry smile.

"There's a car coming. Should I drive on? I think they're following us." Sable's eyes widened and he shook his head slightly. Marianne turned in her seat to look behind.

"Get in," she ordered, "let's go." Sable didn't hesitate and as soon as he was in the car, the door flew shut and the engine roared into life.

"It seems you may be right... Sable was it? I'm Marianne Saunders, most people call me Anne." She reached across and shook his hand awkwardly.

"How fast can this magic car go?" Sable asked.

"As fast as an ordinary car. I can't change that. I just brought her to life. That's what I do... awaken inanimate objects. Now why not tell me what it is I wont believe because if we get caught, I want to have some idea of what's going on."

Gracie-

When i woke up West wasn't beside me anymore, an almost relief. I silently crept down the stairs until i was outside the kitchen. West and his Uncle were talking.
"Bobby, I'm old enough to make my own decisions."
"I know I am just saying that girl-"
"Gracie."
"That Girl," He said his teeth gritted together, "is a danger and a threat to you."
"It is not her fault who her father is."
"No it is not, but the fact is her father is her father. You cannot change that. And he will kill you. You won't be any help at all if you are dead." The was a silence and i could hear some shifting around.
"I just think, " continued Bobby, "That you should leave her somewhere safe and go."
"Where do you suppose is a safe place for me to leave her? He will find her, you know."
"Leave her here, you know she would be safe here. I can use my abilities and protect the place."
"And you wouldn't..mind.. her staying here?"
"No, as long as you were both safe."
"So then why don't we both stay here."
"Because you know where you have to go. To you father's house so he can get you out of China, then you can help him take The Company down, take Peter down."
"You know maybe I don't want to take Peter down, maybe I just want to live a normal life with the girl i am in love with. For God's sake Peter is your brother! You should want to help him!"
"The way he helped us? His family?" Another silence and more shifting. I decided then what I had to do.
"Peter, was scared, even jelous maybe, that he was the only one with out powers. And that made him vulnerable and then when Gram and Gramps were killed by that irratic maniac it just threw him over the edge. Maybe if you and dad would talk to him, it has only be 20 years, you could calm him down."
"Don't you think we have tried that, West? He won't ahve any of it. We're just lucky that the times we have gone to see him he hasn't ordered us killed!"
"Well I don't want to leave Gracie here."
"I know, but it's what is best." I took this silence as an opportunity to show myself.
"Look, you two don't need to worry yourselves about me. I'll be just fine. In fact I'll get out of your way so you don't have to worry about me."
"What?" West said moving towards me.
"Please don't," I put my hand up to stop him, "I'm going to go now, and you're not goin to stop me."
"Gracie, don't be stupid." West said in an annoyed tone as i backed up further glancing at Bobby, who was running a knarled hand through his white hair and adjusting his glasses. "Where are you going to go?"
"Back to my father. I'll make a deal, secure your safety, then you will never have to worry about me again. And I swear West if you come after me I will let them take you into that place."
"Gracie what are you doing!? I love you and I am not going to just let you leave to go back to a life of unhappiness."
"You don't have a choice." I began to cry now, because i really did love him back, and even though this was killing me i knew it was saving him, so i just had to do this.
"Gracie.." West said as i turned and headed for the door, "Gracie!" that was the last thing i heard before pulling the door shut and running. Crying and running in the cold pouring down rain.

Standing there and looking at a closed door seems like an easy thing to do, but when opening that door holds the key to your happiness, but happiness does not want you, it makes it a hell of a lot harder.

Walking half blind back to his room, West kept bumping in to the walls. He could here someone talking, but it mainly sounded like incoherent sounds. Trying to hold in his anger, he sat for about five minutes, completely still. Looking out the window, he suddenly lurched out and flew for his life, or what some people call the better half of him.

Finnally spotting Gracie, West dove as if his life depended on it, but in his own speacial way, it did.

Gracie-

Now I was just walking, arms folded cross my chest. I had even stopped crying. I was almost calm; it was sort of calming to know that i was helping West, maybe even saving him from a fate worse than death. Then there he was again, coming down from the sky. He landed behind me.
"West, go back to Bobby's." I said not turning around, still just walking.

People can still join, right? If not, let me know. ^_^

Emma Lee

OCCUPATION: high school English teacher

ABILITY: Unlimited memory (like the girl Hiro met at the Texas diner)

PERSONALITY AND BACKGROUND: Sweet and soft-spoken. Intensely passionate about literature and playing piano, and cares deeply for her students. Not really sure what to make of her abilities; she likes being able to learn quickly and remember things, especially poetry and piano pieces, but there are also things she'd rather forget. Her mother died giving birth to her and she always blamed herself for her father's distant sadness. She's a bit lonely, living alone and always looking for the right person.

APPEARANCE: Pretty in an aging way. Slight, slender, thick brown hair worn loosely braided. Warm brown eyes.

(I haven't seen the show in forever. If there's a character too similar to this, let me know. I'll write about her after I read people's posts and know what's happening)

((Well, since someone else joined late, I figured I had every right to do it myself.))

Name: Peter Garret

Occupation: None

Age: 16

Ability: (Somewhat like Peter and Sylar's ability from the show, except he has to touch them to take powers. He's not a Copier of powers but a Leech.) The powers he's "leeched": Telekinesis, Teleportation, Mind-Reading, Pro-Cognation (Painting the future), flying, electrical powers, and his favorite, the ability to create a sonic boom.

Personality and Background: Very selfless before he got his leech abilities, but very selfish after the fact. Most of that comes from the fact that he leeched too many powers. His mind has become unstable from all the DNA changes. Peter thinks he's God.
Peter was a normal teenager until one day he unwittingly drained his Math teacher of her life and energy, watching her crumble a few seconds after the fact. Since then, he figured out that there were others with powers. The unstable Peter soon lost control of his mind and becaome a monster, seeking out new people to drain.

Appearance: Tall, lanky, black hair. Wears a sweatshirt, jeans, and an old bloodstained pair of Converses.

****
(Peter isn't the main character of my first post. You'll see why. I'm explaining Peter's role in the story here)

"So, how long have we had him?" George Stephens asked. Stephens was a tall old man of fifty. His hair was graying and his skin was wrinkling. He'd had worked at the "Corrections Office" for thirty years and had slowly worked his way up to the top. Peter was nothing unusual, infact they got plenty of teens misusing there power. It was just the power he was misusing that was unusual. In all his years he had never seen someone actually release a sonic boom out of there mouth. Thankfully they had prepared for that and built a containment cell able to withstand it.

"We captured him last night. Very tricky little bastard to catch. He drained all the life out of three of our men. Haven't the foggiest idea why you'd want him." Said a man sitting in the observation room with George.

"Because, the Corrections Office was estahblished to fix these problems. 'To protect and serve, to make the gifted that are broken, better.'" George quoted from the plauge that hang inside the door. It was the Corrections Office's motto.

"Still, he's quite dangerous. How the hell are you going to sweet talk him into correcting his imperfections. For godsakes he thinks he's God."

"He's dying. All those powers are breaking down his mind, and soon, he'll be dead. He knows it too. And we can fix it. Let me in...I'm going to talk to him face to face." The man nodded and George walked in. Peter lay on his side in the corner of the room. Blood trickled from a wound on his face, obviously where they had used the sleeping blade on him.

"Hello Peter." Stephens cooed softly. "How are you?" Peter looked up, his eyes flashing with anger.

"I could send you flying across this room in multiple ways right now, you know that?"

"I know. But you wont, unless of course you want to die."

"What, are you bastards going to kill me?" Peter grew stronger and floated into the air. He pointed and a chair and it came flying towards him and landed beneath him. He slowly lowered into it.

"No, your killing yourself. All those powers you leech, they're breaking down your mind and you know that. Before too long, your going to start having seisures, and then, black outs. Finally, your going to die. We can help you."

"How? What can you do?"

"We have a medication that stops your brain breakdown, it makes your body strong enough to be able to leech thousands of powers with no effect on your body. Trust me, we've tried." George made his way over to Peter.

"And what do I have to do in return?"

"Well, do exactly what you've been doing." Upon seeing Peters confused look he explained himself. "There are some people out there that...well...can't handle and don't derserve there powers. We want you to take them." Peters eyes lit up. "So is that a yes?"

"Yes." Peter half hissed, half shouted. In the back of Georges mind, he wondered if Peter would ever actually work for them, but quickly brushed the notion aside. Peter would listen, even if they had to cut off all his limbs to do it.

<Storm>

For the past three years I've dreamed the same dream every night. You'd think after seeing it so many times it would be less terrifying, the memories, less vivid. But no rather, the dream becomes more intense, more real, with every passing night.

I'm coughing, struggling through a sea of flames. Sparks fly everywhere and the heat burns me. I can hear people screaming for someone to save them. It's my fault, I didn't start the fire they did, but they did it to get to me.

At this point I don't know who they, are. I'm still Kye, a fourteen year old girl who grew up in the city. My hair is still blonde. I'm scared, I have to get out to stop the flames. In desperation I reach for the clouds above calling with my mind begging whatever gods to let the rain come. No god answers me, but the lightning does it flows through me like a living thing. I cry out in pain and shock as I fall to my knees. The lightning came and the rain came with it.

I am Storm now. Storm with silver hair and cloud colored eyes. Kye died that day in the fire, along with her fmily and countless others.

Storm- Hong Kong

I bolt upright in bed, like usual i'm on the verge of screaming but I can't. My whole body is shaking as I get out of bed and step out onto the balcony. Rain pours down soaking me lightning flickers across the sky, still trapped in the clouds. Like this I can calm down, slowly the shaking stops.

"So, how are we doing this morning?" George Stephens asked as he entered Peter's room.

"Good...the medication is working quite well." Peter tried to say in the meekest tone of voice possible. In actuallity, Peter was not doing okay.

"I'm glad to here that. Up to going on a mission?" He motioned to the door. A girl walked into the room. She looked about sixteen or so with long black hair. She wore a skin tight black shirt with a low neck line and a mini-mini-skirt. Peter's first impression was that she was a "gift".

"What's with the slut?" Peter wondered out loud. A look of utter disgust came to the girls face.

"I am no slut! I'm your partner!" The girl stormed out of the room.

"Sorry..." Peter called after her.

"Don't bother, she'll forget about it by tomorrow. And yes, she is your partner. Her names Erica Roberts. That's how we do it around here, we work in teams. One of you, one of us. Now, be in my office in ten minutes for debriefing of the mission." George walked out of the room. Peter let out a sigh of relief and ran over to his bed. Making sure no one was looking he picked up his sketch pad. He flipped through the pages, searching for the picture.

"Yes..." He found what he was looking for. It was a "future sketch" as Peter liked to call it. But it wasn't the usual car bombing, murder picture he usually drew. It was a time line. In the center of all the pictures, one image stood out from all the rest. It was an image of a large group of people, all with powers, fighting. He saw himself, blood pouring out of an open wound in his chest. Standing over him was Erica, the slut, crying her heart out. The other pictures were meaningless to Peter, except one picturing Erica and himself making out and he really didn't know what to make of that. One other was somewhat interesting, picturing a girl, asian, stealing from sort of bank. He had no clue how he had drawn it in Anime style, but he had, and it was sweet.

Chloe pushed back her hair from her eyes. The rain was pouring down her back and the small road she was on looked as though it hadn't seen another human for several years.

She concentrated hard and saw a brief flash of a man being congratulated by his employer. Well at least, that is what he was imagining.

Gradually the image became stronger and sound was added to it too until it almost seemed as though she were in the conference room with him.

He was getting closer.

She strained to hear the hum of an engine above the noise of the rain but thought she could make one out. It was at that moment that a man on a bicycle seemed to ride out through the curtain of rain and alsmost ran her over.

"What are you doing?"

She blinked back at him.

"I could have hit you! And what are you doing out in this weather?"

"I'm, leaving."

"Leaving where?" The man got off his bike and pushed back his hood. he was in his late twenties and he looked as though he hadn't slept in a long time.

"London. It is fine, I am just walking for a few more miles to my, um, Gran's house." She pointed in a random direction ahead of them.

He stared out into the rain for a moment. "Are you sure you'll be alright."

She nodded and hundreds of tiny water dropplets shook off her nose and ponytail. "Quite sure thanks. I'm a very, persistant walker."

He smiled and pulled up his hood again. " I can see that!"

As he got back onto his bike Chloe turned to keep going. He called to her.

"Good luck!" And then he was gone, peddling off into the blanket of rain.

Chloe smiled after him, he didn't know just how much those two words had meant to her.

Sable: The Roads outside Hitchen

The car moved fast, and yet with a delicate precision that Sable knew he could never mimic, if he had ever owned a car. The snowfall outside made it impossible to see clearly for more than a few dozen feet outside of the car, which made him all the gladder that he was in the *magic* car. He turned to his fellow passenger, the woman named Marianne.

"To be honest I'm almost as in the dark here as you are"
"Not likely, I followed an anonymous mobile call." She scoffed at him "Even if you know little, that's a lot more than I do."

As the car drove through the increasingly thick snowfall, and all signs of pursuit were lost, Sable recounted the events the station, but faltered when he reached the part about the photograph. People had not responded well to his...instability in the past, let alone under these tried circumstances.

"So what was in the picture that warned you this Desmond was so dangerous? I mean, the fact that someone would have a file on me would be scary, but you were running like mad to get out of there."

"It was...Alright before I continue, I'd like you to bear in mind that we are currently riding in what is, as you say a magic car." he rambled, trying to prepare himself.

"Spit it out big man."

"I'm clinically insane. Having said that the picture kind of debunked that theory, seeing as it was a picture of my *invisible friend*."

At the sound of the word 'insane', Anne's knuckles whitened as she gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. Otherwise she didn't respond.

"And at this time, my hallucination told me that Desmond was a serious threat to us, you and me that is. Now normally I wouldn't have listened, but the fact that he knew where to find you hopefully validates that whole thing. The fact that I saw a half dozen men waving what looked like pistols jump into a van and follow us helped too."

She didn't respond for a long time. Instead she kept her eyes on the road, seeming to forget that Sable knew she wasn't steering. Suddenly, she smiled, a grin that showed teeth and set Sable's worries aside, "You're right. Who am I to judge imaginary friends when mine happens to be a few hundred kilos of steel."

Sable smiled too, and glanced out the window as they passed a cyclist on the road.

"We are in *so* much trouble," grumbled Janus from the back seat.

"So...what's on the menu today?" Peter asked as he strode into Georges office still a little shaky from what he had drawn before. He noticed Erica sitting in a chair in the corner. He started to head for the chair next to hers but noticed the inraged face she wore. "Nevermind..."

"Well, we have a man in Omaha with super strength. For the longest time he remained on the good side of the law, but lately he's lost control. He's broken into a bank, ripped half the guards in have, single handedly ripped the safe door off, and ran back through the wall. You don't have super strength yet do you?" Peter shook his head. "Well then, think of it as an upgrade. Take him out at all costs. Steal his power but not his life. Erica will bring him back here. You leave now. We have a jet ready for you."

"Who needs a jet when you got teleportation!" Peter laughed. He ran over to Erica, grabbed her hand, and thought of Omaha. George smiled as he watched the to vanish.

"What a good pair."

The rain had turned to snow now and Chloe had stopped by the side of the road for a drink.

She had watched the cyclists immagination gradually fade away as he got further away. She had grimmaced slightly as she had seen the image of a headline pop into his head "Teenage girl found brutally murdered in ditch" she felt his guilt too and for a moment was worried that something like that might happen to her.

Her rucksack was soaked through and she tried to wring out her spare jumper.

Without warning a film appeared in front of her eyes. "Strange," she thought, "It has never done that without me trying before."

She watched as the interior of a car swerved around her vision. There were three people inside the car but the strange thing was it was not immaginary. There wa none of the usual fuzziness around the edges except for around one of the people.

"We are in so much trouble." The words floated across her head and suddenly the slightly fuzzy figure looked straight at her.

"She can see me!" It shouted.

Marianne: near Hitchen.

"We need to pull over!" Sable exclaimed.

"What... now? With them chasing us?" Marianne had visions of being surrounded by a group of thugs with pistols and leather jackets.

"Yes, now!" Hesitantly, Marianne rubbed the steering wheel and then nodded, reaching her conclusion of agreement at the same time the car did. That happened sometimes - their minds connected and they shared the same thought.

"Do I at least get to know why?" Marianne asked as the car screeched to a halt. The back door opened.

"Hey, who's opening my doors?" the car protested.

"You didn't..." Marianne turned to face Sable. "Your invisible friend?" And then a figure approached through the rain.

"Why wouldn't I see you...?" she asked, facing the back of the car.

"Are we picking her up - are we picking you up? Yes or no, just get in, I wouldn't like to think of what they'd do to you, come on, we need to get moving!" Anne exclaimed in one long breath.
