Genevieve: Beijing, China

Night swept over Beijing as Topaz crept through the city. Rats scurried around in the alley ways, and the smell of rice and spices filled the air. Topaz looked up at the street signs, and yawned in exhaust. She could not read the signs, but her map made it easy for her to get around. If she wanted to fit in, she would have to brush up on her Chinese. Unless one of the agents were to escort her everywhere she went.

After what seemed like hours of walking, Topaz found herself in front of a concrete building with some Chinese symbols on it. Slowly, she walked up the walkway and knocked on the door.

"Who it is?" an accented voice asked.

"Toadfish." Topaz replied firmly.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal a tall man, with jet black hair. He had a scar under is right eye, and he wore a fresh black suit. To Topaz he looked like an amateur.
"Welcome Topaz Lauren." the guy said.

"Yeah, sure. Now tell me, what is going on here? Do you have any leads on Li Hong?" Topaz asked.

"Yes Miss Lauren

Sable: Hitchen

The sound of aluminium coated tin cans striking the hard floor of the supermarket breached the background pop filtering in off the radio station.

Sable looked up from the shelves he was stacking, assuming some old lady had accidentally knocked over a display. As he walked into the aisle, he saw three teenagers mucking around. Before they realised he had seen them, one of the kids stuffed something into his jacket pocket.

"Young sirs, please stop, or I shall have to ask you to leave the store"

"Look, it' the black man," one chuckled to his comrades.
"We're paying customers, youn can't throw us out. Mr Forbes would fire you if you did!" asserted a second. Sable reslised this was the one he had caught in the act of shoplifting.

"Sirs my employment is not for you to worry about. If you will kindly replace the goods on their shelves and leave the store, this will end here."

The third teenager looked scared, but stood wordlessly as the other two escalated the situation.

"Listen Black man, I don't think you're in any position to make threats." The boy cracked his knuckles, but did so in such a way as to look more ridiculous than threatening.

His comrade pulled something out of his pocket, but kept it out of sight, so tht Sable could not see what it was.

Janus, who had followed Sable into the aisle like a loyal hound, shouted a warning, "Watch out Sable, he has a knife!"

Sable ducked, picked up the can that had been dropped earlier, and threw it at the armed teen. In a second, all three were on him like wolves, Janus standing helplessly alongside.
So you're going to kill a god. Sure. But what happens next?

hmmm I've missed out a lot!

OH WELL!

Hey, sylverdawn, Pierre is a man isn't he? Hope SO! :)

---------------------

<Azrael Linx, Queensland>

Azrael looked around, it wasn't very busy today. It was a Tuesday and no one ever bought noodles on a Tuesday. Sighing Azrael sat down in the back and switched on the TV.

"..And in other news the rash of mysterious thefts continue to baffle Hong Kong police. The detective in charge claims it is the work of El Sverte, a thief who has broken into a large number of high security vaults worldwide. No one knows what this thief looks like or even if the thief is a boy or girl. And now live to the scene of the latest robbery."

He sat down only half listening, thinking at the same time, News is SO boring, why'd they ever think of it!?!! He stared at the screen blankly, half asleep.

"In closing renowned business man Pierre Lavoiseir has offered a reward for the capture of this international thief."

Azrael smiled at least some one was having fun. A man walked up into the shop. Azrael jumped up and ran to the counter. The TV was still running, volume full blast. DAMN! Gotta turn it off, the boss'll fire me if he learns from a customer that I've been slacking!

He shut his eyes, while the man gazed at the pamphlet showing what you could buy. Azrael was mentally melting. His forehead started sweating. A small explosion could be heard and the TV stopped. Azrael smiled and opened his eyes, the man began, "Could I please have number 12?"

Azrael nodded and said, "None, mild or hot chilli?"

The man glanced around the store and behind Azrael said, "Mild oh and could I please have some of macadamian <sp?> nuts also?"

Azrael frowned, "What macadamian nuts?"

"The ones behind you, of course!"

Azrael spun around and ran to the back. He didn't have to run far to see the full effects of what the man was talking about. out the back a full macadamian tree had grown out of the TV.

Azrael swore, "Crap, I'm so fired!" A stove lit on fire by itself. Sighing Azrael stuck a damp cloth onto steaming it out.

"Am I going to get it or not?"

"Unfortunately, they are not ripe yet. So thats just the number 12?" Azrael mumbled back scratching his head.

"Yeah, How much?"

"$12.95." Azrael didn't have to look the boss had them glued into his head.

The man dished around in his custom made tuxedo, he pulled out a green colored note. Shit! That's a mintie!

"Will this do?"

Azrael nodded, eyes wide. He reached for the cash register to get change- a lot of change. The man saw this and said, "Keep the change, it's a tip for you, doing such a fine job."

Azrael smiled and held the hundred dollar note up to his face, wow.

Azrael said, "Thank you! God I'm gonna buy so many things with this! Like 5 Playstation 2 games!"

The man chuckled,"Would you be interested in getting some more money?"

Azrael nodded enthusiastically, "How?"

The man smiled slowly- a smile which you expected fangs to sprout out of his gums, "Oh I just want you to find this person for me."

He held up a picture of person, slightly taller than Azrael and had a bit of silver hair poking out of it the person's mask.

"This person, has last rob---been spotted in Hong Kong, I can fly you there and give you enough money to last you for 5 months. My name is Pierre Lavoiseir."

Pierre Lavoiseir, where did that ring a bell? Oh, well this guys offering me $100 dollar bills!

With that last thought decided, he answered, "OF COURSE!"

I'm so lucky, I think I survive a lightning strike just out of luck!

Lightning struck the building. Pierre laughed, 'And you can use those abilities of yours as much as you like!"

Azrael's face grew bright and he jumped the counter, "So, lets go!"

"Indeed. let us depart!"

A limousine drove up and stopped in front of them. Azrael looked at Pierre and he nodded. Azrael opened the door and plopped himself in.

The limousine door closed by itself and the window wound down.

"I'll see you at my private airport!" Pierre yelled to Azrael as the limo ate up bitumen.

"I just have to check something."

Sable: Hitchen

There were ambulance lights reflected in the glass windows of the store as Sable was led away by the police. The boy had come at him with a knife, cctv had corroborated, but the severe nature of the injuries dealt to the kids demanded his arrest.

It was a small town, so it only took about ten minutes for the car to reach the station. This station did not have the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan offices. There was a man manning the front desk, a few cells out the back, and a half dozen officers coming in and out for patrol.

As Sable was marched inside, Janus walking free a few steps behind, he saw that there was only one other civilian in the atrium. The man wore a fine suit, and this in itself set him apart in a town like Hitchen.

He looked up as Sable entered. "Ah Mr Smith, my name is Desmond, I've been asked to represent you."
"By whom?"
The officer at the desk looked up, lawyers were not handed out to the underprivilaged, especially not those dressed as finely as Desmond."
"Ah, an old acquaintance. Now if you will accompany me to a private booth, I will offer you a propoosal, wherein you will be contracted to repay this debt."
"And if I refuse?"
"You need us Mr Smith, your record alone condemns you, and the cctv footage is far from flattering."

The police officer looked up a second time, and frowned. Lawyers should not have been able to get access to crime scene access before the prosecuted were even brought in for questioning.

Sable followed Desmond into the private booth.

Marianne Saunders, London.

Marianne rummaged through her black, leather handbag as the incessant ringing was broadcast throughout the restaurant.

"Sorry, sorry," she mumbled, checking the unfamiliar number briefly before answering it - "Hello?"

"Marianne Saunders?" A deep, husky voice queried.

"Yes, can I help you?"

"Your presence is required at Hitchen police station. Please make all haste to arrive."

"Hitchen? Police station? Why - who is this?"

"That's of no consequence. Ask for Desmond. It concerns your ability."

"Ability?" The man hung up. Marianne pocketed the phone and sat staring at her half eaten food.

"Are you finished?" A waitress asked.

"Yes," Marianne decided. She paid the bill, left the restaurant and climbed into her car. Stroking the steering wheel, she carefully turned the key in the ignition.

"I need you to take me to the police station in Hitchen, do you know it?" she asked.

"Sure I do, let's go go go!" the car declared enthusiastically.

((Layla--Killarney, Ireland))

Layla awoke to the sound of a TV, prattling off the news distantly. Layla yawned and stretched her body out. She opened her eyes to see Sirius laid back on her recliner in the other room. He held a newspaper up and had his glasses on. He heard her yawn and turned around in the chair. He saw her and smiled, "Mornin' sleepy head."

Layla jolted up, "Morning?! We have to go to work! What time is it?" She frantically located the clock. 8:00. "We're late! I gotta fire up the stove and..."

"Um, Layla?"

Layla stopped mid sentence.

"It's Saturday."

Layla uncoiled her shoulder muscles and flopped backwards, "Now you tell me."

Sirius laughed and ran a hand through his hair, "Well, you never asked."

Layla laughed at herself. Always too quick to come to conclusions. Sirius stood and left the newspaper on the recliner. her walked into her room and sat on the bed next to her. He absently played with a strand of her hair, "I don't think I'd ever be able to marry you, ya spaz."

Layla sighed and rolled her eyes, "Seeing each other and marrying each other are two totally different things."

Sirius ruffled her hair, "They might be. After some time of course."

Layla dropped it there. She let him play with her hair a bit more then decided she was hungry.

"What do you want to eat?"

"Oh no." Sirius said, "You are not cooking. You exhausted yourself yesterday. I'll cook today."

"Sirius?"

"Yes?"

"You can't cook." Layla hauled herself out of bed and into the kitchen. She opened the blinds above the stove.

"No using your flame." Sirius had flopped on the bed himself and called from the bedroom.

"Yes, dear." Layla called back. She looked back to see if he was looking and quickly turned back. She was about to start the stove with her flame but an arm caught her around the waist. Sirius swung her around and gently set her next to him.

"Oh no you don't." Sirius grinned and pointed at her bedroom. Layla sighed, stuck her tongue out and returned to bed. Sirius laughed to himself as he cooked her breakfast.

He came back in a few minutes late with a plate of toast and some juice.

"This enough?"

Layla nodded, "Perfect."

Storm- Honk Kong, China

"Alright kid, wheres the stuff?" The guy hitched his coat up glancing around the alley to check if anyone was closeby. Storm rolled her eyes trying not to laugh in her contacts face. She pulled the disk out of the pocket of her old bomber jacket.

"Here, one unreleased best seller video game, stolen from your rival company. You paid in advance, so take the goods and get." She tossed the disk to her contact and walked out of the alley.

Glancing up at the sky Storm saw clouds massing on the horizon. "Looks like a storm is coming, in more ways then one. Well it is monsoon season, i'll have to finish up my last job here, and get out. Or i'll be stuck in this city for another three months. That's never a good thing with the hunters closeby."

As the rain began to fall Storm pulled up her hood and ran through the streets towards her rental apartment. In the distance thunder growled.

*dont worry about it.*

West put the map aside and laid back, starting to relax. Soon enough, with out realizing it, he started to drift off.

Within what seemed like a second, he had the sensation of falling off the bed, and hitting the ground. Looking around wild eyed, he looked over at Gracie, who was staring at him, without blinking.

"Whats the matter?" West said, rubbing his head.

Gracie-

"Nothing." I said shaking myself. It happened again. The floating thing, I mean. I stood up and looked over at the clock. 4:53. I would never be able to get back to sleep now. I left the room and went into the kitchen. I reached up in the cabinet for the can of foldgers. My hands were shaking so bad that I couldnt get the lid off. Suddenly West grabbed the canister from me easily popping the top off.
"Here I'll make it." I leaned against the counter with my back towards the sink. He kept sideways glancing at me while he made the coffee, "you sure you are okay?" he asking putting the can back on the shelf. Before I could answer Aunt Adeline cam out.
"You guys are early." she yawned and looked at the coffee maker, "good call with the coffee.
"Going in early?" I asked.
"Yeah, I have a big presentation today." Adeline is a shoe designer and wants to start her own buisness soon. West was still looking at me concernedly <is that even a word?>
I straightened up and stretched. Maybe I was over reacting. Maybe I imagined it.

Gracie-

"Earth to Gracie!" West said three hours later. I was making the bed. i knew he had been talking and i wanted to shove all of the thoughts out of my head and listen to him, but i couldn't. I sat down indian style on the freshly made bed and looked at West. He was sitting in the swivel chair at the desk holding a pencil in one hand and a map in the other. He was staring at me waiting for me to say something. Snap out of it! I told myself.
"Gracie, can you even tell me one thing i have said in the last half hour?" I scrunched up my nose and decided to go with the truth.
"No, not really." I tried to smile but it didn't work out so well. I fell back against the pillows. West gave me an exasperated look, "sorry! I was just.. zoning out... again."
He stood up from the desk and slumped onto the bed. "You know Adeline and I are gettin kinda worried about you. You've been acting really..strange. Do you wanna talk to me about something." I hated that. how he knew exactly what i wanted or needed and seemed like he already knew how to fix all of my problems. He was so sure of himself when I felt so insecure.
"I'm not sure, exactly." I sat back up and hopped off the bed.
"Where are you going?" West asked sitting up himself.
"I'll be right back." I said disappearing into the office.
