"Where are you going?" Eliza, my flat mate, asked as I shrugged into my smart, black coat and then gathered the huge folder that held my portfolio.

"Job interview, remember?" I prompted, heels clicking across the kitchen floor.

"Oh yeah. Well good luck!"

"Thanks." I waved briefly and left the house. I carried the folder under my arm and briskly walked down the street. I knew the building well; it was the reason I'd decided to rent the flat. Indigo were a large firm based in Greenwich, London and they designed everything and anything. A job there would be perfect. A job there was unlikely.

"Hello, you must be..." the receptionist scanned a list of names.

"Miss Saunders," I informed her, "pleased to meet you." I held out my hand and she shook it awkwardly before placing a thick tick beside my name.

"Down the corridor and it's the third door on your right. Wait outside until you're called in." I nodded and opened my mouth to thank her but she'd already returned to her desk. Feeling quite irritated, I followed her directions and took a seat in a small waiting room that consisted of a coffee machine and three chairs, one occupied by a professional looking man in his late twenties.

Adam

Adam sat on a deep-cushioned leather couch and looked at his psychiatrist. He didn't like talking with her because it always felt like she wasn't really paying attention to his words; she seemed bored. Since he was paying for the sessions, he thought it best to go along with her.

"It's been getting worse, Dr. Frasier. Last night, I was at a restaurant and it happened the whole time. With the lady who was proposed to, the couple that broke up, even a creepy guy that was following me."

"Tell me about this man, Adam?" Dr. Frasier prepared to scribble more notes on her legal pad.

"He kept looking at me like a cat would to a mouse. I lost him, though."

"Was this man real?" The doctor asked with a sense of disbelief.

Adam had been so convinced. He knew the man was real, but suddenly he was doubting himself. His condition was growing worse every day. What he needed were pills; anything to help get those foreign feelings out of his head. From the sound of the timer, he could tell his session was done. He stood up, waved good bye to Dr. Frasier, and walked out the door. After closing the door, he heard the doctor talking to someone on the phone.

"Hart! What do you think you're doing! You almost blew your cover. Yes, the kid noticed you! We can't have loose ends right now! I'm surprised he hasn't figured out what he can do yet. Just be careful next time. Alright, good bye."

Adam ran out of the building with alarming speed, still thinking about what he'd heard. One thing was for sure, he wasn't going back to that doctor.

Gracie-

i was perched on a boulder jutting half way out of the ground. I turned and snapped a picture of West just before he took a drink from his canteen, he managed a sideways smile as i did. He was sitting a few feet away from me on a patch of grass. He took his drink, stood up, and walked towards me. It was getting dark and we had been out all day. This was our version of a date. Probably why we weren't so close, why we seemed hesitant to touch each other. I thought about what i saw last night, which was probably another reason we weren't very close. I guess you could call it levitating, but that usually takes deep consentration, no part of his anatomy was touching the bed, and he was asleep. I turned and looked into West's deep brown eyes,
"You know you can talk to me about anything."
"Likewise." He said smiling, kissing my temple, then looking back at the map. Maybe he didn't even know it had happened.

((Layla--Killarney, Ireland))

Layla woke with a start, she sat up abruptly and accidentally lit the candle beside her with a scarlet fire. She swayed slightly and held her hand to her temple.

"I gotta stop doing that." she mumbled to herself. She blew out the candle and slumped back down onto the bed. Groaning Layla pushed herself up into a sitting position again. She stood and stumbled into her kitchen. She focused on the burner and lit a small fire under her teapot. She stretched and went to turn the burner on manually.

Her red fire expired as the stronger, oranger flame came into being. The tea was already partially heated so it only took another minute. She took the water off the stove and turned the fire down. Layla dropped a teabag in the water and picked up her toothbrush next to the sink. She started brushing vigorously and slipped on her socks and shoes. Layla drank her tea quickly and washed the cup. She brushed her clothes she went to bed in, tan cargo pants and a white tanktop.

I'm fine. she told herself. She took a last look in the mirror and hurried out the door with her jacket. She wished she knew what time it was but she had been to busy getting out of bed and going. So, to make up possibly lost time, she jogged into town to open up the restaurant early.

Adri - New Orleans

I woke at the sound of one of the horses nickering. Sienna was ready to run, already? It was four in the morning!

Oh well. That's what living with a least a hundred animals does to you. You have to get up early to care for them all, and go to bed early because the day had been hectic. But I was used to it.

Now, just to get up and do it all.

And I would. Get up, get dressed, feed the animals, collect eggs, get my own breakfast, then go ride Sienna around the pasture. That was how it was every day. Every day.

The man looked up as I took my seat and nodded stiffly.

"Hello," I greeted him. He hesitated and then nodded again and held out his hand which I shook briefly. There was something mechanical to his movement, to those slate, grey eyes and the straight black hair.

"Jay," he said; a name that did not fit.

"Miss Saunders," I replied. We sat in silence and the minutes drifted by. I looked straight ahead, over his shoulder at a clock on the wall but out of the corner of my eye, I knew he was watching me.

"Miss Saunders." I stood gracefully and entered the room. Why had I been called first.

"Good morning, take a seat." I sat before an elegant, pine desk with a chestnut polish. Probably their own design.

"Is that your portfolio? Super..." The portly man leaned forward and I handed it to him, a mere reflex. My mind was elsewhere.

"...Sorry, I'm not available to answer the phone right now. Leave a message after the tone -- Press one if you're a nazi, two if you're trying to sell me something, three if you're a nazi and trying to sell me something, four if you're Gia, and five if you're Louis. You are the weakest link. Goodbye!" Beep.

"Oh, yeaah... he's in China this week." muttered Gianina, looking at the cellphone in her hand and hitting the "Off" button.

The rain slashed mercilessly at the windows of the Nightingale Cafe, and thunder boomed in the distance.

Gianina picked up her coffee and stared out at the rain, a frown line wrinkling her brow. "Strange. He was in Russia just last month..."

The steam curling up from the drink made her feel a little better, and she sipped it appreciatively.

'I love my job,' she thought, resting her chin on her hand, 'but it's so taxing, some days... well, it's not like I have some other thing to be tired out by.' She glanced at the menu. Nothing looked particularly inviting. Gianina Antonelli leaned back in her chair and sighed, running her hair through her hair and staring around. There were plenty of people in the surrounding tables, though none of them sitting alone.

'Maybe I should move back to Florida.'

Genevieve/Topaz Lauren

I perused the circled information slowly, and then looked up at my father. He was standing with his arms behind his back, with a worried expression on his face.

Operation:Kill Li Hong
Location: Beijing, China
Mission Info:
Li Hong is a dangerous man, who has information that can expose the Company and furthermore shut it down.

"Genevieve, I want you to go to China as Topaz Lauren. Li Hong is a dangerous man, so be very careful." my father said, firmly.
"I'm gonna make Li Hong beg for mercy, then I'm gonna make him wish he was never born." Topaz Lauren replied, with an evil smile.

mind, for humans have not yet learned
how to manifest it.

Sable: Hitchen

"You've missed one you know."
Sable ignored the voice. The doctor had told him that Janus couldn't know anything he didn't, so the voice was obviously misleading him.

Sable pushed the trolleys toward the shop, ignoring the teenage figure who walked along side him.

"It's over there, behind the van"
He ignored him, pushing the trolleys through the store doors and into their rack. He took a moment to evaluate his surroundings, seeing what needed to be done.

"Smith?" called Dan, Sable's self-important manager
"Sir?"
"You missed a trolley, it's over by the telephone pole, behind the van. Must be the Bishops', they always leave their's out there."

Sable was ignoring him, striding out of the store topward the van. Sure enough, a trolley had been obscured, just as Janus had said.

Sable took a moment to give Janus a questioning look. Wordlessly, he pushed the trolle back into the store.
So you're going to kill a god. Sure. But what happens next?

I saw the twinkling lights of the bridge from five blocks away. I heard the whining of the breaks as the trolley creeped to a stop, and along with three other passsengers (locals, I could tell), walked up the steps and took a seat. The small apartment Jerry and I were renting was on the other side of the Chain Bridge.

After a few minutes, the trolley stopped at my exit. I grabbed my bag and waited for the elderly lady in front of me to walk out. She was carefully grabbing onto the railing for support.

I knew she wasn't going to make it as soon as she took the last step. The woman's foot never landed. She gave a muffled yelp and soon was falling head first towards the rock-hard pavement.

It happened almost by instinct, but it was so fast no one saw. I cushioned the air and lightened the woman's fall by creating a small cyclone. She landed pretty hard, but it didn't seem like the elderly woman was seriously injured.

I pulled my hat over my green eyes and walked out into the cold night. Just what am I?

((Layla--Killarney, Ireland))

"Layla! New order!" Sirius shouted from the kitchen bar. Layla dried her last dish and ran up to the bar. Her black haired friend set an order down on the wood and walked away with a plate of food. Layla picked up the piece of paper.

Three fried eggs without a popped yolk, two pieces of toast with butter and jam and an orange juice. she thought, satisfied. She pocketed the paper and glided over to the stove. She flicked her finger and the stove turned on with her scarlet flame. She grabbed a pan and cracked three eggs in it while setting a plate up with butter and jam dishes. She flipped the eggs, careful of not breaking them, and poured some orange juice. Layla put the orange juice with the plate and finished the eggs. She slid them onto the dish and gave two pieces of bread a quick burst of heat. They steamed until a toasted clover appeared in the middle of each piece.

Layla smiled as she put them on the plate and rushed them to Sirius. He picked up the plate and left three more pieces of paper. This is going to be a long day.

--------------------------------

"You really shouldn't use your flame so much." Sirius comment on the way to Layla's house after work, "You over exert yourself and bang! Your unconscious and I have to take care of you."

Layla sighed as she leaned on Sirius's shoulder. Now was a time when she wished she hadn't told Sirius about her power, if she didn't he wouldn't worry like a mother hen so much.

"And you burnt my last piece of toast." Sirius grinned. Layla, on the other hand, groaned loudly. She laughed and flopped onto the grass.

Sirius groaned now, "Do I have to carry you?" he complained.

"Yes." she responded. Sirius bent down and picked Layla up. He held her to his chest as he started walking. "Do you want me to run?"

Layla mumbled something but Sirius couldn't understand it.

"Ok I'll walk."
