Senra frowned, this was utterly crazy. Ho-ah, where had that come from but when needed she said it along with the others. She had been on the back row on the end. Then the guy that had had the cigerette had been beside her, a girl on his other side and hten the guy that had been talking to him. She hadn't gotten a good look at the people in the front row because she was worried if she moved one muscle she would get yelled at and when in return yell back and probably get sent back home. Well to another foster home, and she never got the good ones anymore. So she listened to comands even though in her head she was laughing at some of them. If she ever caught a guy in her room the commanders wouldn't find what was left of him. She smiled at the thought, trusting was never one of her better personalities.

Drake gave a sigh, why? Why with such an uptight person? To think I could be in a nice cool cell. Oh well

(I have no idea what to do? Where do we go from here?)

I scoffed. They were tense...as usual.

"Relax! You're here to have fun, right? And, of course, to learn!" I told them again and again as the whole battalion marched to the mess hall. Platoon by platoon was dismissed to eat, and mine was among the last.

"All right, kids - forgive the general word - but still, you have thirty minutes to eat. And I have my own rule: drink one glass of water before you get a coke." Many rolled their eyes or groaned. "Ridiculous, yes, but I had to follow the same rule when I came here as a student. It keeps you hydrated. When you're done, come out and sit under the trees or something. We're marching back as a group, all right?"

I sighed as the one girl, the girl with the attitude problem, rolled her eyes and turned to follow the line into the room.

I stood at the end of the line with my fellow AIs as talk continued to erupt amongst the many students ahead of us.

The mass of teens began to "march" towards the dinner hall. He was surprised that most of them didn't look like "military" kids. He passed an emo kid with pants 2 sizes too small and then past a punk with bolts stuck through his eyebrows.

With a yawn, Katz wandered into the dining hall that was deafening with conversations.

He walked through the line and got a meager helping of some meat of indiscernible identity and vegetables that looked like they had been harvested last year.

Shouldering through the crowd to where his squad was sitting, he sat down on his bench and looked to his left. Hmm... psycho girl was sitting there. To his right was smoker-guy.

Gulping, Katz chose the lesser of two evils.

"So, how's it going, man?" he asked, smiling with effort.

Drake looked up from his food to see the kid from before, "Katz right?" The kid nodded, "Nothing really. How bout you?"

"Nothing either."

They continued to eating silence until Drake realized Katz wasn't eating his vegetables, "You going to eat your slop?" He shook his head so Drake helped himself. "It my look and taste nasty, but at least it's food right?" He just nodded again. Drake put his hand on the guys shoulder, "Don't worry so much okay. If anything should happen i got your back."

Chaney sat at the table with the squad, listening to the others conversations. She didn't put much on her plate, she had seen better food at her high school cafeteria (and that is saying a lot). But the little she did take she ate up quietly, with actual manners she didn't even know she had.

Her attention was on the other kids, though they probably didn't know it. She didn't call too much attention to herself, but she wanted to know about them as well--even if she didn't want them to know about her.

She first noticed the girl with the serious attitude, which made Chaney want to yell in her face--if that wouldn't dub her with an attitude problem in the process. She smiled a little to herself, wondering what the girl could possibly have to be so pissed about that she thinks she has the right to push her attitude on other people.

Senra looked down at her food and frowned, it was food. She started eating not thinking a bout it so she didn't taste it. The kid, Katz, seemed a little skiddish. 'Don't blame him, this place is different.' SHe thought, she looked up and caught the girl across the table from her eyes. She was Senra's roommy, she bit the inside of her lip. It was better to make friends with the person you shared a room with then enimies.

"You Chaney, right?" She asked, the girl nodded, "I'm Senra, I think we have hte same room."

The kid next to her seemed to get a little courage and smiled, sense the other girl didn't seem to want to say anythign he spoke up.

"I'm Katz." He smiled, Senra nodded,

"I heard." His smile faded, "Cool name."

Chaney nodded to Senra, "Hey" and shifted her glance to Katz, "Nice to meet you."

Where did these manners come from? Seriously.

She finished up her food and wiped her mouth, placing her napkin atop her plate. She looked around...the only one finished she supposed.

"So we have to wait here until everyone is done?"

Ally

Ally looked around the mess hall, feeling suddenly nervous. She clutched her lunch to her chest, before making her way over to a random table.

"Do you guys mind if I sit here?" she asked as they looked at her. One of them shook his head, so she sat.

"Senra," one of the girls said, holding out her hand. Ally took it in hers and shook it.

"Ally."

Senra finished her food and leaned back against the back of her chair. She looked over the group at the table. A quick look around the room told here they were the smallest group.

"So, does anyone have a clue to exactly what we are going to be doing here?" She asked, looking around at the group. SHe might get to liking theses guys but she would need a good reason to first.

"Well," Katz shrugged. "I hear it's supposed to be fun. But I haven't decided yet."

Senra snorted. It might have been a laugh, but she might have just thought he was stupid.

"Where you from?" he asked.

"Who wants to know?" Senra asked back.

Katz shrugged. "I think Drake does."

Drake looked up, partially chewed vegetables hanging from his mouth. "What?"

"Aw, that's gross, man." Katz noted. "At least put those things out of their misery before you put them in your mouth."

Senra snorted again. Maybe that was how she laughed.

Max walked over to the trash, dumped his food, and walked outside. He grabbed a nutrigrain bar from his pocket and began to munch. Slowly, he made his way up the tree untill he was sitting at the highest point.'This place is so stupid.' he thought. There was no point for him to be here, but better this then prison, right?

I scoffed. He hadn't even noticed me standing there, just past the doorway, in the shadows of the bleachers...he'd walked right past me!

"Wha'cha doing up there?" I called as abruptly as I could, snickering when he almost jumped out of the tree.

"What - where'd you come from?!" he shouted back, staring at me.

I continued to chuckle. "From inside, of course! You're not the only one who finishes early." I looked at my watch. "Very early. You still have fifteen minutes left!"

I waited. He didn't seem to be enjoying himself...

Perhaps conversation would help? "What's your name, kid? Excuse the pun, please."

Chaney watched a few of the campers leave, and decided it was okay to do the same without instruction to do so since no one had answered her question. She slid her legs out from underneath the table and stood, picking up her tray, "I'm going to go for a run, I think."

She had no idea why she was announcing this to the group. But, if for no other reason but to cover her butt if she was to be yelled at, she did. She made her way to the dump station and dropped off her tray, turning and making her way out of the cafeteria building. Across the way she saw the bleachers and a track, and she headed that direction.

Chaney was already dressed in cutoffs, sneakers, and a tank...she was ready for a run. Lately she would dress specifically expecting to run even when the situations were not right for it, but she didn't care. She stretched out just a tad before taking off. She did one lap around the track but quickely decided the track was not for her and headed off towards the wooded area. She had fifteen minutes, she could do a good two miles if she tried in that time.

I say Wolf, for all wolves are not of the same sort; there is one kind with an amenable disposition – neither noisy, nor hateful, nor angry, but tame, obliging and gentle, following the young maids in the streets, even into their homes. Alas! Who does not know that these gentle wolves are of all such creatures the most dangerous!
