School of Crazy and Weird People

Arina watched as the pictures appeared and disappeared. She yawned, showing her fangs. She watched as the teacher blabbed all class. She smiled, thinking about how fun it would be to make new friends and play some basketball.
"When do you want to play some basketball?" she whispered.

Codie leaned over to hear what Arina was saying.

"When do you want to play some basketball?" Arina whispered.

"How about after school. A bunch of my guy friends are going to meet me at the courts. Is that ok?" Codie asked still trying to concentrate on the changing pictures.

"Yeah, that would be great! I will see you in the gym. My cell phone number is: 1-666-235-546" Arina said. Codie wrote down the number before going back to the pictures. Arina leaned back in her seat, waiting for class to be over so she could move on. When it ended, she left the room and walked through the hallway, then her cell phone started ringing.

"Hey Arina. Change of plans we all are going to meet at the city basketball courts. Do you know where that is?" Codie asked Arina once she picked up her phone.

Kayla

Nicknames: McKaykay, Kay

Hair: Brown, but when sun hits it, is brown, red, and gold. But mostly brown. Goes down to her elbows, but she keeps it pulled back. She's thinking of getting it cut.

Eyes: sliver with red and gold specks

Height: 5'4

Age: 15

History: Has a history of causing flash floods, if you can call them that. Her biggest 'flood' was six inches. When angry or upset, she looses control and causes large amounts of water to appear in the form of rain, snow, ice, or tidal wave. Rain and snow can happen in doors as well as outside. Has been kicked out of seven schools because of this. Government agents are currently trying to thaw out her house, which is currently frozen in a big block of ice, inside and out, with her parents, dog, cat, bird, fish, snake, hamster, and rabbit inside, frozen as well. This incident happened when her boyfriend broke up with her and her parents grounded her for staying out so late on the date. After that, her brother colored on her walls and her hamster shredded her homework. Thawing progress is slow.

Skills: Controls water and can make it appear out of thin air. Great at sabotaging technology. Has control issues, though, so if a page takes to long to load, she may kill the computer. Has been banned from nine computer labs because of this.

Personality: Happy. Likes to be on stage, but likes to be alone. Likes to swim and run.

Clothes: Doesn't believe in dresses, always wears blue jeans, no matter what the weather. Believes T-shirts are the only way to go with tank tops coming in second and sweaters coming in last. Insists on wearing boots.

Kayla ran down the hallway, her hair coming out of her pony tail. She was late. Really, really late. She skidded to a halt and breathed a sigh of relief. After spending a half hour navigating the new school, she had found her class room. She tucked a few stray hairs behind her ear and reached for the door handle. The door flung open and she jumped back to avoid being trampled by the stampeded of students rushing from the class room. She stood there, stupidly, just staring at the door.

Fantastic. she thought, pulling out her schedule. She scanned it, did a double take, then shoved it in her pocket. She had just played hooky and not done anything with her day but race through the school. Sheesh. Oh well. She pulled her hair back in her pony tail and walked outside. Looking around, she found a good size tree and, even though she knew she shouldn't, she climbed it. taking out her notepad from her backpack, she started writing down the interesting things people did and said. So that she would know what they were like before she talked to them, of course.

Eventually, a skipping red-headed girl caught her attention. She was skipping right up to the tree and talking to hereslf cheerfully as she did. Kayla leaned down to hear what she was saying, and ended up falling out of the tree, knoking to wind out of her.

"Whoa." she said when she could speak again, rubbing her head. She turned around to see the girl looking at her.

"Hi! I'm Nancy. Who're you?"

"Uh... I'm Kayla. Sorry about nearly crushing you."

"Oh, no problem. What were you doing up there?"

"Well, you're perky. I was just... sitting. What were you doing under the tree?"

"I was just talking about the sharks and lions that ran around the classroom a few minutes ago."

"Really. That's... interesting. Hang on a sec." she said, pulling out her notepad. "Okay. What about sharks and lions?"

"Hey Arina. Change of plans we all are going to meet at the city basketball courts. Do you know where that is?" Codie asked.

"I think so, since you called, you are now in my Caller ID, so if I get lost I will just give you a call, okay? But just in case, could you give me your number?" She responded.

Nancy grinned and shrugged. "Just Codie, having fun again. Dumb old Codie, always playing with her funny-thing illusion playbits." Nancy shook her head, frowning. She always fell into that strange, insane-person way of talking when she met new people.

"I mean, she likes to do illusions to try to scare people," corrected Nancy firmly. She leaned forward and put her ear to the bark of the tree. "This tree is only twenty-seven years and eight months old!" she announed to Kayla proudly. It was a new trick she had picked up recently - talking to trees. Sometimes they talked back, but only if they were in a good mood.

Kayla, who had been taking notes as Nancy talked, stopped and looked up. "How could you tell?"

Damian

I got bored of reading the instructions on how to create a love potion and flicked forward a few chapters until I came to how to levitate which looked pretty darn cool. The only problem was I needed two pinches of rosemary and I was completely out.

"Where the hell am I supposed to get Rosemary from?" I wondered.

"Uh... isn't that a herb?" I turned to see the speaker who was staring slightly to the left of my head. Quietly I climbed off the table and walked across to another. Once settled, book safely hidden in my bag, I smiled.

"That's right. And who might you be?" The person jumped and turned, trying to locate me again.

I walked over to Arina and Codie. "What were you two talking about," I said after class was dismissed.
"Okay, we're going to the city courts this afternoon to play basketball with some of Codie's guy friends. Wanna come?" she explained. I looked into her mind, 'Hope Codie doesn't mind me inviting Asuna..' her thoughts said concerned for her newfound friendship with Codie.
"Okay, I'd love to come," I answered back.
We walked outside and started talking about basketball.People's heads turned towards us because of our unusual eyes and our sparkling skin. By then we were walking toward a big tree with Nancy and another girl sitting under it. The new girl had a notepad out, apparently taking notes on what Nancy had to say. I stopped in my tracks, wanting to introduce myself to the new girl. Arina looked my way.
"You go ahead, I'll catch up later," I said as I started to walk towards the tree. I got there just as Nancy had stopped rambling on.
"Hi, I'm Asuna," I introduced myself. I must have startled the girl because she jumped at the sound of my voice.
"Oh," she said, "I'm Kayla. Nice to meet you." I nodded and turned around to see Arina standing behind me waiting to introduce herself, also.

before Codie could give Arina her number, Arina interrupted.
"Is it okay if Asuna comes?"
"Sure." She said.
"Bye!"
"Bye bye." They both hung up the phone and continued walking down the hall with Asuna.

Nancy grinned widely at the someone startled girl.

"I know what you're thinking," she said, eyes sparkling wickedly.

"What," said Kayla sarcastically, shoving the notepad back into her pocket. "You have telepathic powers AND talk to trees?"

"No, no, it's just obvious," said Nancy. I'd be thinking the same thing: 'Why are all these people actually talking to me?' I'll tell you why. Because everybody here is crazy, sure, and they may not all get along - but we stick out for each other, because the rest of the world is against all of us."

Kayla sighed and pulled her notepad back out of her pocket. "Repeat that again?"

Arina walked outside with Asuna when she noticed Nancy and some other girl talking.
"Hi! I am Arina, what is your name?"
"Kayla, how're you?"
"Fine." She replied, "Ignore how I look, I am a vampire." She said as her eyes glowed.
Kayla blinked.
"This is one weird school, but okay." She said, flipping a page of her notebook.
"I will be right back." Arina said, she looked at her caller ID and started to call codie.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Arina."
"Hi Arina."
"Can I bring another person with me for basket ball?"

Kayla scribbled something down and looked up.
"Okay, so you're Nancy, and you can talk to trees." she said, pointing her pencil at the girl, who bobbed her head in reply.

"And you," she said, aiming her pencil at Arina, "You're a vampire named Arina."

Arina nodded, talking to her phone.

Kayla reviewed her notes and smiled, putting away her notepad.

"Okay, cool. I'm Kayla, and I could put this school under water before you could blink." she said, holding out her hand. Nancy took it first, shaking it enthusiastically.

"Really? Wow. I wish I could do that." she said. Kayla pulled her arm back as her shoulder started to hurt.

"I think we're going to get along great." Arina said, closing her phone and taking Kayla's hand.

"Yeah," Kayla said, smiling. This could actually be fun, she thought, shaking Arina's hand. It might be nice to have other weirdos like herself around. She though of what Nancy said and grinned. "...everybody here is crazy, sure, and they may not all get along - but we stick out for each other, because the rest of the world is against all of us."
Oh yeah. She would like it here.

"So, do you want to play some basketball? I'm going to the city basketball courts to play with Codie and her friends."

"Basketball?"

"Yeah. Do you want to come?"

"Sure," she said, putting a hand behind her head, "But I don't know how to play. Hey, what about you? Are you going to come?" she asked, turning to Nancy, who had her ear to the tree again

I studied Kayla's facial feature carefully as they discussed basketball. I stood there, apparently unseen. I was used to not being noticed, so i stood there waiting for someone to recognize me in this conversation.
'Maybe someone will actually notice that I'm a vampire too, I mean at this time of day Arina and I are are both shimmering in the sunlight as our eyes glow. Someone's bound to notice sooner than later...' I thought, ticked off that, still, no one noticed me.
