This NaPo Week 2026, the sorcerers of Poetry Crew are inviting you to explore the newly established apothecary of YWS. With the ability to craft collections of creative works, we are challenging you to brew up something special - a complete potion of poetry! The challenge can be twofold: create a poetry collection and/or collect (review) another member's poetry collection.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Collection Alchemist
one who demonstrates a commitment to the craft of poetic alchemy (don't forget the newts, the herbs, and unexplained mysteries)

  • Write and publish a minimum of 4 poems that are tied together thematically (your theme of choice... does not have to be spooky!)
  • All poems must have been written during NaPo Week and posted by October 10th
  • Post your completed Poetry Collection as a reply to this thread with a few sentences about the collection
  • All poems must be published to the Literary Center/Green Room
  • If you require some extra poetry coins to publish your poems in the Lit Center, please message a member of Poetry Crew for up to an extra 250 points for help

Poetry Potionsmaster
one who is skilled in the art of poetic potioneering and masterfully collects one alchemical creation

  • Review 1 entire Poetry Collection (which means more points to publish your collection!)
  • In addition to writing individual reviews on each piece, you are encouraged to write a final review taking on your reflections on the collection as a whole. Post your Final Reflection in the Poetry Potionsmaster Thread
  • Feel free to track your progress in the Poetry Potionsmaster thread. All reviews must be complete by October 31

If you have never written or reviewed a poetry collection before, check out Alliyah's Tips for Writing Your Poetry Collection. If you have any questions about the challenge as well, please don't hesitate to send me a PM and I'll be happy to clarify! Let's just keep this thread clear for our alchemists ;)

Happy writing!

Here is the link to my collection. There are four poems, two of which are written in a short paragraph prose style, one written in typical poetry form, and the last in a list.

Info about my poems!
Spoiler
These poems are to be read in the order that they are placed in the folder, starting with "Everything in my dreams is me", then "please, could you meet me at the cemetery", "I have begged as much as words allow", and lastly, "How to breathe underwater"

The first and third poems are retellings of dreams I have had. The poems in between build on what I learned about myself and my life in those dreams.
Who's to say that my light is better than your darkness? Who's to say death is better than your darkness? Who am I to say?

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.

and is now EllieMae :)

Spot!!

I've published all seven of my poems, since it felt weird to only publish a couple of them. when the tower falls

Information about my collection:
Spoiler
These are based on the roleplay game "Dread." It's a very simple game in terms of roleplay. There's the game master, and then people playing characters. Any time there's a hard action, the game master asks people to pull from a Jenga tower. (Sometimes two blocks if it's a hard action, or they give a time limit, stuff like that.) If the tower falls, the character dies. If they fail the action, then something bad happens but they don't die. If they succeed, then nothing bad happens and they succeed at whatever action they were taking. :] Very inspired by "We're All Gonna Die," a collaboration between Smosh, George Primavera, and Jon Matteson. BUT you hopefully won't really need to know any of that for the poems? Some are from characters' POVs but don't worry about finding background info or anything.

I published my five main NaPo week poems here: This Existence is Our Livelihood

Short description:
This Existence is Our Livelihood centers on finding the confidence to be authentically yourself while struggling with a fear of perception and taking up space.

Description from the thread:
Spoiler
themes of finding confidence in authenticity, the audacity to exist as you are, the courage to be without backing down, shaking off the shame of nonconformity, and coming into your own. being your own person and proud of it. because you do not need permission to exist, to live, to thrive.
