A studious guy (Aiden) has agreed to tutor the academically struggling quarterback (Felix) in history for extra credit. But when sparks fly between them, what shall become of their fate? Enjoy this tender queer romance with graphics and original songs added herein!

To unravel the mysteries today, one must look back at the past. A series of poetry letters found during the upturning of Aiden's room has brought us closer to the entire picture. Consider this an off-course flashback, and a way to know the suspects better~

Prequel: Looking for you (Arc I- Aiden's melancholy) (My NaPo thread 2026)

A/N-
This is a flashback (filler arc), and converges with arc I towards the end. Includes spoiler, reader is advised to go through the story in the correct sequence for best interpretation of the plot and maximal self enjoyment.

I. Crushing on you

(Intro)

You set me in bloom & I can't stop it

(Verse 1)

I was living just fine before you came
Closed off from the world of pain
But picking at my petal, it's settled
I'll play this crushing game.

(Chorus)

You set me in bloom & I can't stop it
I'm just a moon, stuck in your orbit

(Verse 2)

I was supposed to teach you history
Now I am wondering if there's you & me
in fate. Is it a date?
Oh break my heart now, swiftly.

(Chorus)

You set me in bloom & I can't stop it
I'm just a moon, stuck in your orbit

(Verse 3)

I see our stars & I connect the dots
But twinkling are, a million more
What are the odds- you're mine, I'm yours?
In your honeytrap, I've been caught.

(Bridge)

~Woah~

(Outro/Chorus)

You set me in bloom & I can't stop it
I'm just a moon, stuck in your orbit

The audio makes it seem, almost, as if two ppl are singing this. As if Felix is echoing the words. More to follow. Love the petal motif!

II. Discovering myself

(Intro)

You've got the pull of a moon babe
In me, your tides take shape

(Verse 1)

I see you making eyes at me
It rises like a storm in sea
Things I thought I'd never feel
But my heart does a cartwheel

(Chorus)

You've got the pull of a moon babe
In me, your tides take shape
You're the mirror that I need
For my truth to be freed

(Verse 2)

You dug me out anew
A side of me no one knew
Like a dormant seed, I lay
Now I know that it's okay

(Chorus)

You've got the pull of a moon babe
In me, your tides take shape
You're the mirror that I need
For my truth to be freed

(Verse 3)

And though I need to explore
But ever since in that bookstore
My breath has been hastening
You're my gay awakening

(Outro/Chorus)

You've got the pull of a moon babe (of a moon babe~)
In me, your tides take shape (take shape~)
You're the mirror that I need (that I need~)
For my truth to be freed (to be freed~)

Alex, I had no idea you could sing! The first song really caught me off guard, as for some reason I expected it to be a reading and not a rendition of the song! This is such a beautiful story being crafted and the singing just amplifies it to a whole new level. The moon imagery throughout gives it such a cosy, nighttime feel, like two lovers hiding under a blanket, stargazing.

We will need an AlexWrites album next year. Have you ever heard Glass Animals or Alt-J? The parts where your voice is layered reminded me of some of their songs!

@4revgreen

I dabble in singing and it fairly annoys my roommate XD

I've been a bathroom singer my whole life, so I tried making my NaPo 2026 a musical but I couldn't keep it for the whole month. This is surely more feasible, we'll see how it turns out! I still know nothing about music theory though, so I guess that's ironic.
The audio code didn't work in April, I might be editing those to be embedded as in this sometime.

I hope this isn't too big a spoiler since you were reading my NaPo thread, I still recommend finishing that first to fully enjoy this.. But I'm glad you liked the story and presentation so far <3

And I haven't heard of those singers but will definitely check them out, thanks!

Here we go:
Spoiler
Following up on my promise to keep up this time:
I like the gifs you put in front of the poems =D (I still think they load a little too long for me and come in a little too slowly and laggingly but I love that they exist!)

So for the first poem. I love the double meaning of “crush”! It works well with the petals that I already mentioned I liked :3
“But picking at my petal, it's settled“ Especially this makes me think of the game of removing petals to determine whether “he loves me, he loves me not” and I also like that Aiden seems to realise that it’s a game he can only lose.

It also sounds like Felix, with his big personality overshadows everything. Kinda makes me think of how Andrew also overshadowed Aiden….

“I see our stars & I connect the dots // But twinkling are, a million more” Now THIS makes me wonder if Aiden will potentially move on. I mean, there are a million more stars, king, you can make different connections <3
Tho from the next line it sounds more like he’s focusing on the small chance that the stars connect in a way that create a meaningful relationship. Ach Alex XD

In Felix’ poem, I am especially intrigued by the shovel gif. Is it the burying your feelings thing?

Ohaaa love how he comes out with “nonono, the moon is super important too Think of the tides babe!!”

Hmm I wonder if someone like Felix would use “making eyes at me” as a phrase? It doesn’t feel fitting…
The rest of the stanza works super well for me tho!

Hmm sounds like Felix thinks of the shovel more as an instrument to free him from entombment huh…
Tho isn’t the metaphor a bit muddled when you say “Dug me out anew” and then “I am a dormant seed”
Or is this a purely negative thing: you dug me out and placed me elsewhere before I was ready?
Or maybe it means: you took me away from a place that wasn’t working for me, shovelled me free, and placed me where I can grow well?

“You're my gay awakening“ Aww that works so well! Also has me think of the closet key trope.
It also sounds more like Felix was using Aiden, (you are the mirror I need aka to realise the truth abt myself)

Ahh @Tikaya, you spoil me! Was hoping I'd beat you to a review but I guess not XD

(I still think they load a little too long for me and come in a little too slowly and laggingly but I love that they exist!)

I was fearing that'd be a problem with some people, maybe opening it in a new tab would work better?

Especially this makes me think of the game of removing petals to determine whether “he loves me, he loves me not” and I also like that Aiden seems to realise that it’s a game he can only lose.

Precisely what I was going for!

It also sounds like Felix, with his big personality overshadows everything. Kinda makes me think of how Andrew also overshadowed Aiden….

You're really picking up at all the Easter eggs lol

Now THIS makes me wonder if Aiden will potentially move on. I mean, there are a million more stars, king, you can make different connections <3
Tho from the next line it sounds more like he’s focusing on the small chance that the stars connect in a way that create a meaningful relationship. Ach Alex XD

Actually I was focusing more on all the million stars for Felix here, the many amazing girls who'd jump at the chance to be with him!

Is it the burying your feelings thing?

Ooh, interesting interpretation lol.

Ohaaa love how he comes out with “nonono, the moon is super important too Think of the tides babe!!”

I'm lowkey impressed and very glad you caught that <3

Hmm I wonder if someone like Felix would use “making eyes at me” as a phrase? It doesn’t feel fitting…
The rest of the stanza works super well for me tho!

Valid! But I made the creative choice to play with it in the next poem, you'll get what I mean soon enough ;)

Or maybe it means: you took me away from a place that wasn’t working for me, shovelled me free, and placed me where I can grow well?

THIS!!

It also sounds more like Felix was using Aiden, (you are the mirror I need aka to realise the truth abt myself)

That is in fact what I was meaning to get across =D

III. Letting you go

(Intro)

I am drowning deep into your golden brown eyes (your golden brown eyes~)
As I reach for the skies (skies~)

(Verse 1)

We were just inside my head
Nowhere could this road have led
Guess I'm choosing me instead
And all my love be left unsaid

(Chorus)

To love me is to let you go
Even if I'm scared to be alone
I'm drowning in your gilded eyes
Shooting for the starlit skies

(Verse 2)

I get too close to the sun
Is it in my fate to burn
Oh honey, we can't be one
Or I would come undone

(Chorus)

To love me is to let you go
Even if it kills me slow
I'm drowning in your amber eyes
Shooting for the starlit skies

(Verse 3)

I've always held my dreams too close
Walking 'round on my tippy toes
Now I've got to crush the rose
To chase what I seek the most

(Outro)

I am drowning deep into your golden brown eyes (your golden brown eyes~)
As I reach for the skies (skies~)

Idk if opening in a new tab would help. German internet is pretty bad.

Heh I do like ~lore~ so give me all the Easter Eggs!

“Actually I was focusing more on all the million stars for Felix here, the many amazing girls who'd jump at the chance to be with him!“
Hah that is ofc obvious!
But Aiden shouldn’t hide his own light =D

Well then it is the next poem so let’s see where this line leads =D

New Poem:
Spoiler
Heh the title gives me hope that they break up and maybe find ppl that are better for them or maybe grow as people and then get back together~
Btw is one of these gifs from Your Name? (Amazing movie!) Still love these little mood board thingies even if well they lag heavily for me =D

I suddenly remember that the Brown Eyes poem of yours is still on my reading list… Hm…

“Guess I'm choosing me instead”
Aww well. You don’t have to sound so dejected. There is so much freedom in being single and rediscovering yourself! (Yes, yes our characters are very sad at the moment)
I also love the line abt to love me is to let you go. I remember Aiden’s breakdown over how Felix has treated him and best girl Gia coming in clutch to try and make him happy again!
But I think he’s not really thinking about THAT. I get the impression he’s been overwhelmed in this tidal wave of love?

Ohh I also love the line abt getting to close to the sun and getting gburnt for that. Now I love how you keep associating Felix with sun and warm and Aiden with moon and push and pull (and petals for a reason I will probably understand later. Hey there are flowers that don’t like the sun xd)

Also you know, brown eyes can be called honey-coloured. Just… throwing that out there. Honey is also yellow like the sun. Felix calls Aiden “babe” like a typical frat boy tho, love that detail!

I guess you meant the fact with the “making eyes at me” that Aiden keeps talking about eyes in this poem? He has been extremely fixated abt that part of Felix’ appearance?

“Now I've got to crush the rose“
I love the callback to the first poem. It’s not Aiden getting crushed (at least not anymore). I am also deeply interested in Aiden going for “rose” here, not something like sunflower. (Rose is more love-coded but… yeah XD)

Tho I keep coming back to the two verses before that. Holding dreams to close. As a way to say that he gets too invested in his own dreams, stifling that way? And being careful around them at the same time?

Alex, I had to check out your thread and I didn't realize you were writing SONGS!!! Goodness that is a talent. I haven't been able to listen to them yet, but your lyrics, although in character's pov, feels so personal and just full of emotion. Keep up the amazing work til the end!! <3

OKAY ALEX I'm joining everyone else in being so impressed by your compositions, voice, and poetry here! I always am a fan of love & moon poetry pairings, but I think my favorite poem is this last one you posted...

I mean ... the chorus and then lines like this...

I get too close to the sun
Is it in my fate to burn

Ah! You've got some really crushing lines in there weaving all the imagery together.

Loving your collages too that go along with each poem - they add another layer of meaning to reflect on. Thanks so much for sharing these with us, your songs feel quite polished, gentle and mournful in some places! Looking forward to the rest of your thread this week!

you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

IV. My roman empire

(Intro/Chorus)

Baby, you're my Rome
All roads lead to home
Though I didn't know before
I can't deny it anymore

(Verse 1)

The apple of my honey eyes
I'm Newton & you fell from sky
Like a little angel in disguise
You're the reason I soar this high

History was a masquerade
You taught me love, but didn't stay
By my own seas, I've been betrayed
Like Hadrian, I wither away

(Chorus)

Baby, you're my Rome
All roads lead to home
Though I didn't know before
I can't deny it anymore

(Verse 2)

Tu es Brutus- I am glad
With Cupid's arrow in my chest
But after all the fun we've had
Let Caesar be your heart's guest

My doom may be set in stone
Like Caravaggio or Da Vinci
Used to paint in blood alone
But all that now seems flimsy

(Chorus)

Baby, you're my Rome
All roads lead to home
Though I didn't know before
I can't deny it anymore

(Verse 3)

Maybe in another life
I could be as brave as they come
In a world all free of strife
I'm Alexander the Great or King James the one

I'm a lover and not a poet
As Oscar Wilde and Walt Whitman
I can't come out just yet
Will you hold my hand, if we ran?

(Outro/Chorus)

Baby, you're my Rome
All roads lead to home
Though I didn't know before
I can't deny it anymore
