Aloha! For this year’s month of July I will be writing in theme of Courage!

Now, this just doesn’t mean I’ll be writing courageous characters (although that is part of it). I will also be more courageous, as in writing more consistently, Trying new mediums/genres of writing I’m unfamiliar with, and most importantly… courageously having fun!

Goals:
Words: 10,000
(highly unlikely lmao, Exams and JLPTJapanese Language Proficiency Test are literally all in July for me ;-;)
Topics/Stuff I’d Like To Explore: Write a short fanfic, Actually think of my stories for longer than 13 seconds and make a cohesive draft of the plot,
And most importantly… A short story titled “Aloha ‘Oe” about moving to Hawai’i as a transfer student and fitting in, and much more! (time to dive into everything about hawaii since ive never been there lol I might be going there next year but for now… gonna have to write about a place like 3k miles away from me
Encouragement: 2 steps forward and 1 step back is still 1 step forward. No need for perfect consistency, just try your best each and every day.
Bonus Goal: Draw a cover art for everythin I’m making (and actually out effort into them)

Hope you all have fun (#1 rule), and good luck on your July NaNo! :D :D

(also, pls help me if anything happens lol. This is my first NaNo and I have no clue what I’m doing. I don’t even know if this is a good goal lol)

Oooooooh great theme, Toast! And "courageously having fun" sounds like an epic motto to slap on a t-shirt or something =P You're 100% correct on having fun being the #1 rule, and I think 10,000 words sounds like a good goal in terms of word count! You can also always adjust it throughout the month if you find you're writing less or more. You got this!!

This is an awesome theme and I've always been interested by the way you go about writing things!

When it comes to drafting a plot, I have been in many different camps. I used to write down EVERYTHING that I wanted to happen. There were even times where I essentially wrote like I was checking a box off in a list.

With planning, sometimes I feel like less is more. Having a rough idea of what will happen, bullet-points for important plot beats, but still letting the flow of the story guide you where to go.

In my current writing, I will still have a goal of a scene, usually with a thing I want to happen within, but I am much more likely today to add some scenes in between to add additional character growth. This helps with pacing, character writing, and worldbuilding!

Sorry for the rant, lol. Good luck with your goals! I will certainly be here to cheer you along!

Day 1
Worked on and finished Day 3 of Fabrication: Shikri
... forgot to upload it :DDDD
(Will probably be up sometime today.)

Tried to work on a Conlang based on Polynesian Languages (Hawai'ian, Tagalog, Maori, etc.), Instantly regretted it when verb conjugation came up.

Started work on the Cover Art for "Aloha ia 'Oe" the book that I'm reaching to write (at least semi-finished) during this month's Camp NaNo.

Exams came in like a train wreck. Probably will pick up pace after July 7th since that's when all impending exams/tests will end.

Goal Achieved So far: 91/10,000 (haha... I might be screwed but I'm not adjusting this goal since I'll be picking up a lot of pace next week.)

Here's a little teaser of Aloha ia 'Oe:

Ahhh rip :') *lends an inspiration truck to smash through the roadblock* I usually like saving everything I write even though I'm sure I won't use it, because sometimes a little part of it is decent enough to use in the future >.> Anyways, I hope you find ideas you like soon!!

Day Two
I removed around 300 words that I had previously written so… I somehow made negative progress today lol. Atleast I now know what I want to achieve since I’m starting over so no need for continuing a plot I was stuck on.
I also made aton of progress making verb conjugations and a writing system for a conlang I’m working on called “Aka’ani Ana’kā” that’s based on Polynesian languages.

Image
Even tho this wasn’t *technically* part of my original goals, this did help me learn alot more about Hawai’ian and how beautiful of a language it is.

Goal Achieved So Far: -200/10,000 haha… Atleast I kinda now what I wanna do now.

Day 3&4
After a pretty big setback, I managed to make an overall rough draft of the story

Also, made a poem ‘7 days of the week. Monday sucks lol. here’s a quick looky-wooky
Friday finally,
Oh let’s get wasted.
Oh let’s drink, eat, binge LoTR all 3,
Let’s act like time isn’t limited.

LoTR: Lord of The Rings

Goal Achieved So Far: 400~/10,000 I’m not sure exactly how much progress I did since I don’t remember how many words I removed yesterday, but with how much words I wrote today. the progressshould be around 400. on day 5 I’ll have the 400 be my base from which I’ll add to. (Yes, this might he a bit off but I’ll try and go over 10,000 to keep my goal mkay?)
