"We have an unexpected visitor. Your wife." He braced for his reaction. Under normal circumstances it would have been funny to see Tarkin's reaction but there was no room for mirth now.

Tarkin's stern expression slackened and he blinked once, twice. "What." A reddish tinge colored the tips of his ears and cheekbones, and he rubbed a hand over his face with a heavy sigh, recovering himself. "Why. When?" he asked through tightly gritted teeth. That woman would be the death of him, he swore. She might very well be, with the way things were going today. What would happen at dinner? Oh stars.

"She interrupted Vader before..." He felt cold again. He shook it off. "He had me cornered. She just appeared from nowhere and called him off." Thalassa had done an excellent job of hiding her thoughts. Sirejj had a little more faith in her now after talking to her. "It turns out she arrived wanting to question the would-be assassin."

Tarkin was quiet for a long time, staring off into the distance. He had to be calm. This wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't even the first time she'd arrived unannounced at an inopportune time--not by a long shot. He rolled his shoulders, then exhaled. "Very well. She's here now, he's seen her and she's likely not leaving until she gets what she wants. Is she aware of the Phindian's condition?" Damn her.

if/when they all become enemies of the empire and Tarkin and Thalassa are forced to work in much closer proximity than they are used to I can imagine there will be some bickering.

Some guy: aren't you going to try intervene? *Tarkin and Thalassa arguing*
Sirejj, a bottle in hand: nah, you get used to it after a while

"She does. We spoke for a moment shortly before I came here."

Oh my goodness they're ALREADY going to be bickering. But yes, once they're stuck closer then they'll be insufferable.

"And where has she gone now?" He rose. "Somewhere out of the way, I hope? I don't want her near Vader for long. She's only met him twice before." One time before, he corrected himself mentally. She'd met Anakin the other time. But Sirejj wouldn't know how many times they'd met; he wouldn't pick up on that. Or would he? Tarkin pushed his thoughts in another direction, just to be safe. He couldn't afford to get clumsy.

Sirejj is going to need therapy after dealing with these people

bro I didn't think of this but Tarkin knew Anakin pretty well. He will know some pretty deep dark secrets. Sirejj could use those later when he faces Vader after he's reached his full potential.

The three of these will make a pretty wild team. They will be able to hold their own. Except Tarkin knows once Stardust is finished, if it gets finished, they're in trouble.

"I'm not sure. But I believe she knows not to go near him. We discussed that and I warned her to stay away. To guard her thoughts well." Sirejj prayed Thalassa could keep from poking around until Vader had left. They had made a mistake bringing him here.

I'd say Tarkin knew Anakin fairly well, but not very well. They wouldn't have had a whole lot of time between battles, but I have no doubt they met once or twice for a friendly dinner or a chat since they're both Palps's little guys. I'm sure that dynamic changed during the Ahsoka trial.

He knows him much better now that Anakin is Vader. Vader has almost definitely confided in him like he used to do with Obi Wan, so Tarmin definitely has some tea to spill!

Tarkin would probably try to undermine Stardust before going off to rebel against the Emperor directly. He'd probably try and redirect funding, which means Krennic would be furious and Thrawn would get his funding for the TIEs.

"As you should." Tarkin headed for the door. "I'll speak to her as well. She's no fool--she knows the risks--but it's best to take precautions when possible." He was still seething inwardly at how blatantly she had ignored his advice. She knew perfectly well how dangerous it was to come here when she had no knowledge of how to handle Force-sensitives.

Anything if it means Krennic loses his mind. I can imagine Krennic may jump at the idea of being enemies with a disgraced Tarkin. Now that would be a cool interaction.

After they lose their rank Sirejj would probably just call Tarkin by his last name and lose the governor bit but would continue to call Thalassa 'Lady'.

"When should we meet before dinner? Part of Vader's suspicion was due to me not being at my post. I should probably be with you or Lady Tarkin whenever possible."

I wanna see Tarkin clock Krennic on the jaw.

I think that would be iconic of Sirejj.

"I agree." He thought for a moment. "Best stay by my wife, I think. I will speak with her in private before dinner; you can guard the door if you want to appear useful."

yes knock him flat. He's had enough of his mess.
Tarkin, about to officially defect from the empire: hang on, forgot something. *turns the ship around to find Krennic, beat him up, then gets on his ship and leaves*

Their dynamic is gonna be great

"Very well. Till then allow me a moment. I need to clear my thoughts."

Incredible, amazing, best thing he's ever done

"Of course." Tarkin turned, giving him a long look. "He rattled you pretty badly, I see. Don't let it happen again, for your sake and mine."

Sirejj's expression darkened slightly. Less because of Tarkin's words and more because he had no idea how he would not let it happen again. He was powerless compared to Vader. That is what angered him.

"I'll try to remember not to." He seethed.

"Good." Tarkin gave him a cold smile; he could see he'd upset him. It was both a pleasure and a concern that Sirejj was so swift to forget himself now. It couldn't happen at dinner, of course, but it amused him that he could get under his skin. "Follow me, then; let's go find my wife."

honestly you got to feel sorry for Sirejj Vader is literally terrifying

Sirejj followed him wordlessly. He wasn't in a talkative mood. He saw Tarkin's amusement but didn't care to react. His mind was elsewhere.
