“Yeah.” Ky sighed and nodded. “… if I had any hope left, I would, too.”

(I just yeeted my phone directly in a bin of water accidentally I’m glad I have my waterproof case on for work lol)

"Don't give up just yet," he said. "Things will get better, Ky."

(Haha I have to wash my toenail-less foot in a little bin by itself after my shower to be sure it’s as sterile as possible to prevent infection so I got my little bin full and then went to prep my supplies and accidentally bumped my phone off the sink and instead of just gracefully falling to the ground I tried to catch it and ended up swatting it straight into the bin lol)

She nodded glumly. “They better. I’m getting tired of them getting worse.”

"Let's knock on wood, then, shall we?" He rapped on the end table beside him. "That's an old saying up here."

Ky watched him skeptically. “What does it mean?”

"It's for good luck. An old superstition, but I for one am a superstitious fellow."

“Mm.” She nodded once, deciding not to grudge him that. “Alright, then.”

"Anyway. Let's hope, eh?"

No. “Okay.” She shrugged non-comittally.

He dipped his head. "How're you getting along with your sister?"

“…I like her a lot.” Ky glanced away. “She’s… very different from me.”

"Yeah? How so?"

“You’ve talked to her, haven’t you?” Ky shrugged.

"A little. She's definitely very confident."

“Yeah.” Ky nodded, then hesitated. Most of the time. She’d been a bit more vulnerable in front of Ky than anyone else up here, though. There was more depth to her than she let on. “She knows who she is and why.”
