Down to the Depths

"Okay, sir. So you mean no one is inside the home, but you are here on the porch," said Sylvie, "which means someone is present, but no one is present inside the house?" Sylvie had lost track of that halfway through but hopefully this person got it.

The man huffed. "Finally, you understand. Let me get home, and then you can climb up and knock on the door." He marched into his home.

Onni sighed. "Why put the doorbell, then?" Ey groaned. "Sylvie, give me strength."

"Thank you, kind sir," said Sylvie with a smile before she turned to Onni. She put an arm around eir shoulder. "People have their quirks."

Onni nodded. "They do." Ey hissed. "They really do."

"Yeah," said Sylvie, giving Onni a pat on the shoulder. "After you?"

Onni sighed. "Only for you, beautiful." Ey reached the rope ladder and started eir ascent.

Sylvie couldn't help the light dusting of red that overtook her cheeks at that. Even after hearing that so many times. "Thank you." She grabbed onto the ladder once Onni had climbed high enough and started her own climb.

Onni pulled emself onto the platform. "Alright. Hopefully, he's more talkative now." Ey knocked on the door.

"One can only hope," said Sylvie as the man opened the door for the third time.

"Alright. Someone's home now." Micheal smiled. "How can I help you?"

Onni glared at him. "Are you Micheal?"

He nodded. "I am a Micheal, yes."

"Oh that's wonderful sir," said Sylvie. "Would you happen to know a Thomas or a Philip?"

"I know one of each, yes." Micheal looked at the couple. "Why?"

"You need to apologize to Phillip!" Onni crossed eir arms.

Micheal scoffed. "I'm... what?"

"You are nothing sir," said Sylvie, "you need to apologize to Philip."

Micheal shook his head. "No. Nope! Not today. I took that apology with me to the grave and beyond.

Onni rolled eir eyes. "Why, though?"

"Yes, would you like to tell us why sir?" asked Sylvie.
