Down to the Depths

"Well...I mean, at least we know for sure its definitely the two people we're looking for," said Sylvie, with a shrug.

"What did Brian do to get Phillip so angry?" Onni started walking back down the hill. "If it's some murder thing, I don't want to get involved. I've sealed with enough of that for a few lifetimes."

"Agreed. But umm...this place feels too nice to be the afterlife for a murderer. I mean...its not exactly hell," said Sylvie. "I think it might be something simpler."

"Well, here's to hoping." Onni squinted at the rest of the people. "Now how do we find Brian?"

"Umm...good question," said Sylvie, "maybe we try any nearby doors, I feel like they'd be living fairly close to each other if this whole apology thing has been going on."

Onni shrugged. "It's worth a shot. Maybe Naenia will be nice to us and make it that simple."

"I mean, it has been simple so far, right?" said Sylvie. "Not like this would make things any worse."

Onni shrugged. "We'll see." Ey walked up to the next house and knocked on the first door.

The door swung open fairly quickly this time.

"Can I help you?" asked the man, looking mildly confused.

"Are you Brian or Brian adjacent?" Onni crossed eir arms, looking up at the person who opened the door.

"What is... Brian adjacent?"

Onni glared at him.

"Umm...what's your name sir?" asked Sylvie, trying to smile apologetically.

"Thomas?" Thomas looked at the two in utter confusion. "I mean, I know a Brian. Does that count?"

Onni nodded.

"That would make you Brian adjacent sir," said Sylvie, with the largest fake smile she could muster.

Thomas nodded. "Ooookay. Then I am Brian adjacent."

"Where is he then?" Onni crossed eir arms.

"It would help us greatly, sir," said Sylvie.
