Ky nodded. She didn't understand their relationship whatsoever. And yet it seemed to have worked for them for about as long as she'd been alive, so she supposed she must be able to do something with the frustrating man. She still wasn't hopeful.

Ky flushed and shook her head quickly. That was the last thing she wanted. At no point in her life would she have wanted to be the one to try to convince him of something. But certainly not now. She didn’t even want to be in his view. In his mind. She’d made herself an irritating grain of sand beneath his eyelid and she didn’t need to be actively making him angrier about her existence when she wanted him to take pity on her. Even though she didn’t deserve it.
