Ky sighed. How was that fair? She was getting absolutely nothing out of this arrangement. “…fine.”
She could find somewhere to hide for five days if this went as poorly as she expected. She could be uncensored locked away in a parlor where no one could find her. It’d obey the letter of the agreement, even if they both knew it wasn’t in the spirit.

“Mm.” She rubbed her face, another wave of exhaustion hitting her. She’d had entirely too much adrenaline and anxiety pumping through her today. It was taking its toll. But she decided to wait this out rather than ask to be excused. If Sara was making demands of a promise this absurd, she probably had a reason for it. What was she wanting to know?

Each second felt like it was a minute as the silence dragged on. This was Sara’s idea. Why wasn’t she taking control? Interrogating her? She surely wasn’t going to open a single topic now that she didn’t have the option of being careful in how she responded. That seemed dangerous. If she wasn’t allowed to be careful, then she had to be careful in other ways.
