Sadie looked down at her wrist, gently rubbing the burn, as she tried to think through the matter. The guilt from leaving Alex on the couch was going to make her rest poorly if she did accept the bed. She'd much rather they just take the bed. They were the one who deserved it, obviously.
But it was clear their low self-esteem wasn't going to accept something nice.
Unless she manipulated them. Which she wasn't above. "But I want the couch. Are you really going to take it from me?"

Guilt flooded their system, filling their stomach with the intense nausea of a disappointment. Why didn't Alex ask them instead of just assuming? God, no wonder they had more pages than Sadie. Xe was the absolute worst.
Swallowing sharply, they tried to brush it off. "If you really want the couch, you can have it." But, from the waver in their voice, it was clear they didn't brush it off well.

Alex’s entire face turned cherry red, and they looked away as quickly as xer neck would allow. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable, though.”

"I'm only uncomfortable when I'm being a jerk. Which I am." Sadie stood up and strode to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. She walked to the sink and splashed water on her face, trying to wash away all the anxiety and embarrassment and tiredness and frustration that'd been building in her.
She wiped her face with one of the fluffy white towels on the rack, then looked into the mirror, sighing. She looked rough. Not nearly as rough as she felt; but still rough.
Maybe she should just leave. Take the money she already had and cut her losses. She could find a new place to park her car. See if they found her again.

Sadie sighed softly and opened the door, stepping past them. "Well, you've only known me a few hours. You'll change your mind soon enough."
She plopped down on the floor, pressing her back against the wall. Check mate. They couldn't make her pick.

Sadie sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest, then pulled her phone out. She should have known Meyer was lying about her having access to her laptop -- just like he'd lied about the luxurious hotel they were going to. No mind. She could still do plenty of damage with her phone.
"Wanna look for a food menu?" she asked Alex, even as she was typing The Perfection Trials into her own search engine.
