I got my post up as well. I thought it would be good to have something that proves everyone's in Minecraft, so I threw in a spider. As long as no one attacks it, it should be harmless—but feel free to up the stakes by having characters attack it.
(As a friendly reminder, your characters can't access any of their powers and also currently have no weapons on them, so they'll probably die and respawn if the spider attacks them back a few times. If you want to go that route, let me know!)
Important question: are we playing by minecraft physics etc.? Cause if so cutting down trees, dirt etc. is very easy. idk if that would be to OP for our characters? Also @TheMulticoloredCyr do get a stick you have to mine leaf blocks. but idk if we are playing by those rules.
Good question! I don't know if we'll end up playing by Minecraft rules with everything, but I think it would be pretty fun if our characters could chop down trees with their bare hands.
(Albeit really slowly. >>)
I also did have plans for crafting to be a thing in this, so that would also make getting a crafting table soon a little easier, too!
Hmm...perhaps I could have Chud try to chop a tree. He's definitely strong enough to normally chop a tree down with his bare hands, so he'd try and when it doesn't go down in one punch, maybe he could realize the world is playing by Minecraft's rules and tell that to everyone?
And I ran some tests just for fun...
In hard mode, by jumping and hitting (critical hit) almost every time, it took about 13 hits to kill a spider with a stick. I took maybe a heart of damage from it hitting me twice.
Now if you want to die via spider attack, that takes getting hit about 6 times. They do like two and a half hearts of damage if they attack you and you're doing nothing to dodge.
And if we're playing by Minecraft's day and night cycle, I think we probably have to scramble to dig a hole somewhere and hide. I doubt there's enough time to locate enough wool for everyone to get a bed

Hmm...I'll wait to see what Cyr says and get up a post then. Chud has to reply to a few people now defending his declaration of "This is totally Minecraft". Maybe I can even work that into why he tries to punch a tree as a demonstration of some kind.
