The thing with Aiden is that he’s charming and nice to everyone unless it doesn’t go his way. As soon as you do something he doesn’t like, he turns cold and mean, and it’s such a contrast that he uses it to condition the people around him to think it’s their fault when he turns cold and distant, so really, if they do everything right (i.e. HIS way), then he won’t have to be mean to them or hurt them. And given his powers, people usually want to stay on his good side, so they kind of begin to internalize the idea that if he’s unhappy it’s somehow their fault. He’s a manipulative bastard, but he’s good at what he does.
