All that Carter's done so far is introduce himself and show up, but my brain immediately was like, "Oh Lexal isn't going to like him."
And then I had to figure out why my brain was so dead set on that because they haven't even had a full-on conversation yet, and this was the first thing that came to mind:

Lexal also almost always has a sword on them because they're just Like That. It's kind of a comfort item for them at this point, and also pretty useful in day-to-day things. But Alan is amazing and I love how he's the kind of normal guy.
(Although I do suspect you're probably hiding something with him. >>)

I feel like now is a good time to mention that once the characters are in teh clearing with the tea set, they can't leave it. There's a magical barrier preventing them from so much as going back the way they came.
