He took a step back as Taber fell, dodging the falling mass of wolf-creature. Despite his predicament, his appearance is rather courtly, and his posture carefully stately as to not betray the fear and the Wrath fighting to get out.

"Thank you, sir. Are you alright?" he asked. This wasn't a creature he knew the likes of and he walked the Pits of Hell. This was a thing out of a book, not reality, and yet, here it stood: a werewolf, or at least the closest thing to one, in a furry heap in front of him.

Taber landed belly-first, accompanied by splinters and pieces of wood. Undaunted, he jumped up onto his feet, looking around at the room. Completely black, but he could've sworn he saw the faint outline of a figure standing in front of him. The figure had a very upright, dignified posture. Taber thought of the royals he knew.

"Sure, uh, your highness?" he said. He felt a piece of wood sticking in his shoulder. Ripping it out, he threw it behind him. That strange feeling - pain? - came up again, but he ignored it. "Yep, everything's fine! Now, uh, how do we get out of here?"

His gaze wandered up towards the hole the werewolf(?) had made. "I do believe that that is the only way out, as well as in, at least for the time being. The door is barricaded from the outside." Cornyx's tone was cool and professional, but not condescending, despite his authoritative air.

Your highness. Those words rang in his ears. After this long he was accustomed to it, but to hear a stranger's voice utter them. . .Well, it was a different feeling.

"That's weird," Taber said, scratching his chin. He reached a hand towards the ceiling, but couldn't feel anything. "I think the hole's too high up?" he said, now making his way through the darkness. "Maybe there's a ladder somewhere, or a key, or something like that."

A stray thought crossed his mind. He'd forgotten to say hello to the royal. Hopefully the royal hadn't thought that was rude. "What's your name, by the way?" Taber said. "I'm Taber."

"Cornyx Blackthorne," he replied. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Taber. I already tried bashing down the door, and getting through the window there, but to no avail. Are there others with you?"

Spoiler
BY THE WAY
When he gets with the rest of the group, anyone who has any way of detecting demonic/unholy presences or whatever will definitely be able to tell that he is full of strong demonic energy and is almost undoubtedly a devil himself

"Wow," said Taber. He felt his foot brush against something. Reaching his hands down, he realized that something had the shape and texture of a wooden box. That could be useful. "What a cool name! I don't really have a last name?" He picked the box up, setting it down beneath where he thought the hole was. "I guess if you count my dad's" - his voice cracked up - "Aurelius, I think? But I don't really like him that much."

Taber stood on the box and reached up, grabbing the edge of the hole after one or two tries. He was getting sick of faint outlines and darkness. If only he could -

Oh, that's right, he could.

A small flame sprouted an inch from Taber's hand, illuminating the hole. Looking back, Taber finally saw Cornyx for the first time. He was a young man, well-dressed and poised. That unusual black hair and silver eyes confirmed things for Taber. "Are you a royal?" Taber said, one hand on the edge of the hole. "What's your kingdom?"

"Is it that obvious?" he glanced down at himself with a small chuckle. "I may not be a royal in the terms you mean it - this...place seems to be different than most - but I am the ruling King of Hell."

He was pyrokinetic. That was something to take note of. He'd better watch his step; fire and ice weren't the best match.

"You just looked kind of royal. Never heard of your kingdom, though," Taber said, snuffing out the flame briefly to pull himself through the hole and onto the floor above. The floor grumbled, with pieces at the hole's edge falling down, but it held. "Sounds like a nice place!"

Resting on his knees, Taber restarted the flame, reaching his other hand back into the hole. "Let's get out of here."

Cornyx stepped up on the box and lifted himself up, eyes glinting eerily in the firelight with that glow that all nocturnal animals possess. He really could've flown if he had to, but he'd rather not reveal his true form yet.

"It's nice enough, I suppose, if you discount the weather," he replied as he got his footing. "Bit hot and dry for my tastes but it's a strong kingdom."

It was about then that Taber realized he had a vague sense of unease around Cornyx. Something about the way he looked, how calm he always acted, how strange his eyes looked in the firelight. Still, Cornyx had been a perfect gentleman so far, and Taber didn't like distrusting people. "Good!" Taber said. "I've been in weak kingdoms before; they don't last long. And it's not fun when they fall." He turned to face the door leading to the staircase. "Come on down, you guys! I made a new friend - he says he's the King of Hell!"

"He's the what?" Gabriel said, looking incredible aghast at the statement. He hurried on down to get a glimpse of the supposed King of Hell. It was clear to Issac and Sebastian that he didn't believe a single word of it.

They followed him down in the darkness, knowing that the others would undoubtedly follow as well. This was far too interesting for them to leave, especially when a new person was involved. When they reached the bottom of the staircase, they found themselves looking at a man who gave even Sebastian a bad feeling. It was so disturbing that he found himself clinging to Issac, which was something he rarely did even when they were on their jobs.

Gabriel slowly backed away from him. When he reached where Sebastian and Issac were, he leaned over to the two of them. "You see what I'm seeing?" he questioned. "Looks human, but you get a bad feeling when you check out the third plane. So I went a little further."

"He's not human on the sixth plane," Issac whispered incredulously. "He's some sort of dragon. I-I've never seen anything like that before."

"Same here," Gabriel confirmed.

Sebastian looked from his friends to the man standing next to Taber. Taking a deep breath, he let go of Issac's arm and made his way over to him. He couldn't let him see how afraid he was, or how he knew the truth about him. That was one of the first rules when dealing with someone like this. Issac and Gabriel slowly made their way over as well. Gabriel had once said that demons like him had absolutely hideous and/or terrifying forms, so he shouldn't have been all that surprised when both Issac and Gabriel were relatively calm about the situation.

"Hi," he said, stopping in front of the man and Taber. "I'm Sebastian. My friends over there are Gabriel and Issac. How did you get down here in the first place?"

His metallic gaze eyes the trio, his gaze calculating and reptilian, but not hostile. "Cornyx Blackthorne, it's a pleasure," he introduced himself. "As to how I got here? I have not the faintest. I woke up here without any knowledge about how I came to be here in the first place. Do you know where we are?"

Raiden's eyes widened
"Cornyx? Hey dude! You look different from the last time I saw you -- was it when you became king of hell? Or were you always king of hell? You remember the haunted mansion place we were in? There was even a wolf there too!" he rambled as he scrambled to his feet to shake Cornyx's hand. There was a smile on his face.

Clarice followed behind the others. She didn't get to close to the King of Hell, considering he was claiming to be the King of Hell.
