"Don't worry, Bo," Sebastian reassured him, already digging around in his pocket for a piece of chalk or one of his sharpies. Holding onto it made him feel safer. "Issac isn't the only one of us who can defend himself. Gabriel and I are both capable of it, too."

He found a sharpie before he found a piece of chalk. Seeing that there was the possibility that they would be attacked, he began to draw a transmutation circle on each hand.

Behind him - still angry about the incident with the couch - Gabriel cracked his fists and gave what Sebastian would consider an absolutely terrifying grin. "We can handle anything that comes at us," he agreed, cracking his fists again. "Especially if it's just a bunch of imps."

Sebastian looked at Issac, and the two of them sighed.

Clarice would've laughed at Raiden's statement if it wouldn't have been such a dead giveaway. She was certain that she wasn't the only one hiding something. Raiden's joke alone was enough to confirm that he was hiding something, although Clarice didn't know what.

"We'll be fine." She said.

Okay. Raiden was hiding powers or something. So clearly he was dealing with some weird, super-powered people out of a movie plot and he was the powerless, normal dude who just had a bunch of guns. Alright. Okay.

He had to convince himself to think of the present as if it were fictional, to make sense of things - and, he supposed, to stop butting heads with everyone else. Because everyone was apparently very determined and more capable or prepared than they seemed (or so was his hope, since everyone seemed so confident they were going to be okay).

He rested his gun on his shoulder.

"... I mean. Fine, I guess."

It wasn't fine. And he wasn't okay with it. But it hardly seemed like he had any control over the situation anymore, not that he ever really did in the first place.

Everyone seemed so assured and competent and strong that Taber was embarrassed. He didn't feel all that confident. He knew he wasn't very smart (despite what his girlfriend told him). He was pretty strong, but so were these guys. Still, he didn't want to be a downer. Raising his paws and smiling awkwardly, he said, "Oh! Uh, I have these?" The sharp claws on his paws gleamed in the sunlight. "So, uh, yeah, we'll be fine. And also, I woke up here, and I kind of want to stay here in case anyone I know shows up."

He glanced over at Sebastian. "What are those?" Taber said, gesturing to the marks on Sebastian's hands. "They look nice."

"They're called transmutation circles," Sebastian replied, holding up the hand that had the finished drawing on it. "It's how I use my alchemy."

"Awesome!" Taber said, grabbing the hand and focusing an eye on the drawing. It wasn't anything he was familiar with, which made it all the more interesting. "What kind of things can you do with them?"

Alchemy?
"If it means what I think he means, then I'm guessing Fullmetal Alchemist stuff. Ever heard of Edward Elric? I'm going to assume it's something similar," Raiden said, before scratching his chin.
"Though, to be honest, I've never watched it, so...I wouldn't know if I'm correct or not."

"It's the same stuff," Sebastian confirmed.

"Pretty sure Hiromu Arakawa knew it existed," Gabriel added, "and decided to make a story about it. It works exactly the same way, and the transmutation circles look exactly like those ones she drew in her stories."

Sebastian capped the marker and slipped it back into his pocket. "If I know the elements that make up a specific object and I have those materials on hand, I can make it." He pulled out a piece of chalk from his other pocket and snapped it in half. The circle on his hand glowed blue as he transmuted it back to its original form. "That's what it looks like."

Anime magic being real was not something he knew how to cope with, any more than anything else he'd seen in the past hour. Bo simply kept a close watch on everything and every one in the room, trying to be ready for whatever might happen next.

Kaelynn didn't believe in magic. That was supposed to be in Hollywood movies or children's shows with talking dragons. Seeing someone harbor that power kind of made Kaelynn's mind reel, questioning if her life was real or if it was just a giant simulation.

But there was also a sort of curiosity that made her think about what everyone else was hiding. Kaelynn had secrets and if the time came, she could show them to her friends because some secrets are best left judged to those that see them.

Clarice stared at the transmutation circles on Sebastian's hands in disbelief. She'd never seen Fullmetal Alchemist, so she didn't know what Raiden was going on about, but the circles were hauntingly similar to the larger 'circle' she had tattooed onto her skin. She suspected that Sebastian's transmutation circles had something to do with an exchange, and her suspicions were confirmed when Sebastian explained. It was a different kind of exchange than the type she was familiar with, but in some ways they were similar.

Clarice scratched at the tattoos on her hands as if doing so would make them disappear. If she was tempted to reveal her own powers, she managed to restrain herself.

"Woooooooow," Taber said, watching the piece of chalk reform. "That's amazing! Can you do it again?" He grabbed the piece of chalk and effortlessly broke it in half.

"Can you do it with anything else?" Raiden asked, his eyes sparkling with childish curiosity.
"Like, can you fix a broken arm? Or is it limited to inorganic substances?" He was practically jumping up and down as he stood behind Taber.

"I can do it again," Sebastian said, smiling. It had been some time since he had last shown his abilities to someone, and had been even longer since they had reacted so positively. He eagerly took the chalk back from Taber and transmuted it to its original form.

He met Raiden's inquisitive gaze, pocketing the chalk as he did so. "I'm not sure. I haven't tried before, but I suppose I could..."

"Ooooh," Taber said. "Can you do that?". He turned to Raiden. "Need help? I can probably break your arm for you!"
