Volume 10 might apparently not materialise, but if this is the last volume, I think it's an acceptable conclusion to the series.

Volume 7 is awesome. But this left me a sour taste in my mouth.
I still love RWBY, but over the years of following it (I started watching after Volume 3, so I am, admittedly, only a "new" fan), with Volume 8 set to come out later this year, it's clear that there are several significant flaws in the story, and many things don't make sense. It would appear this is because the Rooster Teeth management tried very hard to take RWBY into their preferred route, rather than Monty's. It's worth some pondering.
Now, as a disclaimer, I'm not choosing a side as much as I'm urging fans to educate themselves on all the facts and drawing informed conclusions. I'm not undermining the work that CRWBY has done over the years, both before and after Monty's passing, because what they've done is amazing. However, the dissatisfaction within the fandom with RWBY's content and RT's treatment of some of its employees shouldn't be ignored. I think Monty was very passionate, but also rather impulsive and made things difficult for a company that wanted definite processes and such in place. Nevertheless, he also confided in his wife, Sheena Duquette-Oum, about the story in its entirety, yet RT completely ostracised her. Granted, Shane himself is clearly a very troubled man and has built up immense resentment during his last year at RT. His words should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt, but at least a couple of people (Sheena included) confirmed what he said.
There are many people working at RT who still want to honour Monty and carry out his vision — of that, I'm certain. Unfortunately, I also believe there was a great deal of politics going on, and people who weren't aware of them were misled. We should continue to enjoy RWBY, for those of us who still do, but we must keep a clear mind.

Which are your favourite songs? They're wonderful and glorious and everything I hoped they would be, and all of them are on YouTube already. Forever Fall is the one song I instantly sought out, and I must say... Pyrrha's love for Jaune was not done justice until now. I happily wept for four consecutive hours before finally going to sleep. <3

So, this isn't Jaune's Semblance? But his aura boosting Weiss' okay, fine whatever Jaune's Semblance doesn't even interest me anymore ROOSTER TEETH IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS JUST TELL US ALREADY unless he can bring back the dead then I'm okay with that.
Raven and Cinder's fight was good, but I still noticed cheap animation cheats that made the fight feel bare in places. There wasn't much up close fighting done ala Monty's fighting. But, it looked spectacular to watch, as every Maiden fight so far has been.
I'm excited to see what the last episode will bring. I surely hope there's more fighting and an actual conclusion and not just a denouement. You don't waste the final episode with exposition exposition exposition.
Anyway, all around good episode. Not great. But good. The best thing about it was the Cinder/Raven fight and Nora smacking Hazel like he was a twig. Everything else was weeeeeeeaaak
