Never Gonna Give You Up

PreviousNext

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just want to tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

I just want to tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

As far as YWS April Fools jokes go, this one is A+ and will go down in the history books! :D Buuuut while I hate to break up the party, YWS Lit Works are for original writing, so this piece of history has to be to be locked and preserved. ^^

You deserve a Squills feature for this, though. Sweet Lord. XD

I have to agree with the others- this is far too much repetition for my taste. But I do love me some free points, so on with this review!|
The self rhymes are annoying as hell. This entire thing feels like a cheesy poem written by someone with a love for eighties music and a huge crush. I suggest adding punctuation throughout to create a more even, crisp look, otherwise it all appears rather boring. It does seem like it would be pretty fun to dance to, though. I imagine it would be upbeat and very pop-ish.

By the way, I love Rick Rolls. This made my day. Thank you so much for the laughs.

Hey, I'm just here to say I appreciate your use of repetition, it greatly emphasizes the message this lyric is trying to deliver. I also think the use of capitalization is on point. I suggest incorporating periods and semicolons and ellipses to make it look prettier and more complete. I can relate myself to the singer of this lyric vary much. Thank you for giving me such an incredibly insight... and free points. Happy Alright Fool! ;)

Hello, AllisontheWriter, and a very merry April Fool's Day to you to! :p Really fantastic song here. I figured since this is a joke, why not have a part in it. (Yes, I'm being cheap and signing up for free points. So sue me back. I dare you.) I'm not entirely sure how many characters are required for this (utterly unhelpful) comment to be accepted as a review, but hopefully I'll land safely within the limit.

I agree with Sheyren, though, there's a little too much repetition in this song for my taste. Oh well, it's not really my style anyway.

So this has been A Review from yours truly,

Hahaha, have at it! :D I appreciate the feedback. Will have to find a way to pass it on to Rick, preferably outside a court room. XD

Did I just get rickrolled... On a critique forum?

Well I'll be damned... I guess I did.

Hello, Shey here for a review!
You have an interesting song here that I can tell you put a lot of time into. The use of the chorus and the bridge, etc. shows you know a large quantity of music writing techniques. It almost sounds like a professional write this, so congratulations!
My only comment is that the chorus is overly repetitive, to the point where if it was an actual song, it would probably get annoying. I once heard a song very similar to this that...
Hey, wait.
I see what this is.
You posted this yesterday.
*slow clap*
I'm leaving.

Spoiler
P.S. This is the best April Fool's joke on the site.

Hello Allisonthewriter,

I absolutely love this song. Because I'm young and have no life, I dance to it all the time on Just Dance on my family's XBOX. Happy April Fools to you too!!! I hope your enjoying it. I played a prank on my younger brother and filled his room with sticky notes. It was really funny. However much I love this song it is still copyrighting. Don't worry I won't sue you! Yes, thanks for asking, I am just doing this review for points. I love out of all the songs you choose to put this one up on YWS. Really funny!

Sincerely,
Broooklyn193

Note: This is for entertainment purposes only - I'll take this down after April Fools Day. :P
PLEASE DON'T SUE ME!!!

The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices; to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicions can destroy. A thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own.
