Hunger. It is the thing some keep at bay. We eat to feed of desire for life. We love to feed our desire for happiness, yet we portray our intentions as innocent. We are monsters (in our own right) or at least most of us. While some search for power, others search for balance. Some seek riches, others balance. We deny our goals. Subconsciously we dread losing our power. We're all spitting at the people below us. Perhaps it is because there is nothing in achievement without the reward.

Heyy,

I really like this. This could be a short part of something great, if you're planning to extend it. There's a lot of thought and effort put into it, and it's clearly seen.
I think you should consider re-writing the last line, it could be something like;
'Perhaps it is because there in no use in accomplishing without the reward.'
I'm hoping you extend this, I'd love to see more of this and you're work.
Keep writing ~

I like this. It could be a poem that doesn't rhyme, but it doesnt have the form. But rather philosophical and I enjoyed this a lot. It's thoughtful too. I'd love to see even more of your work in the future.
Take Care,
Ren
Hey sockmonkey!
I've read a few of your works. I could see them being poetry, but they aren't really set up in any definite way.
I could see it starting like this.
Hunger.
It is the thing some keep at bay.
We eat to feed of desire for life.
We love
to feed our desire for happiness,
yet we portray our intentions as innocent.
We are monsters
(in our own right)
or at least most of us.
While some search for power,
others search for balance.
Some seek riches,
others balance.
We deny our goals
(when speaking aloud.)
Subconsciously we dread losing our power.
We're all spitting at the people below us.
Perhaps it is because there is nothing in achievement
without the reward.
Looking back up at that, I realize I did the whole thing. Ah well. I cleaned up the wording a little bit, and added line breaks and some formatting.
I like the thoughtfulness of your work, but it does need some cleaning up.
Anyways, thanks for posting. It has a great theme and meaning.
