In Experiments in Poetry

PreviousNext
Most nights, there came a lonely silence,
Insidious, it seemed, but never a hindrance.
Calling, baying, to be solitaire no more;
Heaven, and earth, hath them no more.
In Tales of all our dark lore long,
Lay those that stand alone in song;
Listen you to Death's elegy?
Explore, then, their lament eerie,
Into abyss to find dirge dreary.
Vicissitudes of fate long have been suffered,
And many a time the cries doth ring out,
Never ceasing; lost forevermore.

Hello there! :) to start off, I must say that I was definitely a fan of this. Just the way it was written reminded me of one of my only preferred "dark" poets Edgar Allan Poe. Generally I don't care for darker/ depressing pieces, but I'll give yours an exception.

The choice of words here was strong yet also ha some kind of rhythm to them, and that's what I liked. I liked the use of the words "dreary" and "forevermore" especially because it reminds me of the Raven. In this case it's "forevermore" though.

Anyway, I don't have much criticism to offer. :O My only advice is to keep penning... You've got some potential there.

Hey :)

So i really liked it. The dark feeling in it and the interesting choice of words. I see you have used a theasorus ;) but just saying that sometimes easier words carry the meaning better. Anyways i really did like it, i wish i was longer ! :D It had basically everything a good poem needs .. a sportlane kind of thing , literaly devices , some rhymes and rythm. Very nice :)
