There had always been fear in my family. We were rich, but our wrries were bigger then others. The fear of the people coming for us, the ones with different beliefs and witch eyes. Our haunting powers that changed with every child. No matter what we did or where we moved onto, those black whispers followed us everywhere.
I was not allowed off the property. There was a good reason too, because I knew the cloak incasing our house, our land, was for our protection. Yet, though I cherished my powers, they were a curse. Oh,for the loveo f the moon and the sun why was I yearning to be mortal!? My family was eternal, immortal up unntil we all fell into a trap and were burned at the stake! I would not be allowed to be slaughtered, being the strongest of my family. Oh, touch of death blanketing my skin more then my dress, how dare you curse my mind as well!I could hear the screams if I touched others, haunting my mind which drove me to the brink of insanity. I had been stealing souls and happiness fro mthe time I was born. Maybe I was trapping them, tying their souls to my aura and blocking the light to the other side.
I didn't want to be a monster.
Still, my parents urged me to try and harness my powers; They told me I was a power the held no name. Oh, why couldn't I be an empath, teleporter, or some other power?Besides, if there was so mm uch power inside me how could I harness it? I didnt not believe I ever could, but at the hope in my mothers enchanting eyes I could tell she believed. I wish I was more like her.
My mother was all soft curves and easy, smooth features. Her face was a round heart, with wavy black hair down to her back. Her eyes, sky blue around the pupils that was then followed by a ring of shocking purple and finally the purple ringed by black, were bottomless and gentle. She had petite shoulders and a curvy torso with hips meant for birth. she was tall, all legs and beauty I yearned for. My father was her perfect match, with his tall and thin muscled body combined with shoulder length hair, black brown like wet wood that had been burned. His face was only a few degrees sharper then my mothers. He had similar cheekbones and his own set of stark eyes. Papa had light brown ringing his pupil, then the brown was ringed by red and ended with a circle of fire blue on the very outer edge. He was tall, evenly set out with an easy stride and powerful with his tricks of the mind.
I was on my own.
My hair was stark blonde, hanging glossy and straight to my thighs since we never cut it. My cheekbones were high, with a sharp boned face that was set in a thin oval. My eyes were both different sets of colors from one another; my left was royal blue around the pupil, followed by a pure white then ending with a storm cloud grey. My right, however, went yellow around the pupil, green ringing the middle, and then an undiluted silver on the outside. My entire frame was petite, my shoulders small and sloping with a laughable bust, willowy waist and then slim hips meant only for show. My body was weird in its proportions and I never was comfortable with it.

My lessons of the day consisted of my spell book, and a man who had confessed to the murder of one of my many cousins. I stared at the obsedian knife in his hand, my hair brushing my shoulders in a wind that followed a soul I was about to entrap. The man lifted the knife, lurching forward and bounding toward me. the wind whipped my skirts and wrapped around me with the scent of death, a sickly sweet smell that clung to my skin like a perfume to men. It forced its way in to my nostrils and embedded its way inside my lungs, wisking through the threads of my corset. The hunger encased my heart, yearning for his life. My eyes burned as I floated forward with other-worldly grace and I grabbed his throat, letting my scent and power give me his life. I was starign right into his brown, Mortal eyes and could smell the nasty stench wafting off his rotting corpse as his cheeks sunk into his bone and his skin peeled away. I watched the muscles fade and his eyes slowly turn to dust and disappear right into the wind, continuing to stare into those pits of black.
I dropped the skeleton.
My legs, suddenly unsteady, forced me to stumble into the wall. My corset, confining my chest and drenched in sweat, was suddenly too tight. My skirts were weighing me down as I dragged myself to the door. I was sweating like an animal about to be slain. Still I was struggling against the confines which were the lacings fo my dress."Mother."I gasped again and again, sobbing as the man turned to dust and disappeared.
He was the first.
I could hear the door creep open liek the brush of a hand on my back, and I let out a small sob. I stepped out of my damp dress and dripping corset as I put on a much lighter dress .I brushed past my mother and stumbled to my room. In the confines of darkness I pinned up my long hair, looking at my reflection. My cheeks were flushed and my hair hung down my back in damp locks. I looked...alive, with heat rushing down my arms and through my veins like adrenaline. Maybe that's what it was.
My appetite was nonexistant.
The hunger around my heart was gone.
My powers were stronger.
~
I stared into the dark eyes of my mother, blinking slowly as she tried to pull my mind into tales of the past, both enchanting and horrifying at intervals of time that seemed sporadic.I blinked slowly, lowering my head to my arms and staring into the sunrays steaming through the window like gold. I smiled, but the pain in my chest was nearly unbearable. I yearned to see the nighttime, to stare at the moon let her white, celestial streaming light wrap around me like a secure embrace. I was not allowed out at night, though. Bad things would happen when I was let into the bridges of the moonlight.
I would black out.
My hunger was insatiable.
I stared up into the blue sky and smiled gently. I closed my eyes, drifting off in to my mind because I could. There was a twinge in my mind, a whisper for something...
I sat straight up when my mother dropped a thick book on my desk, looking up at her in surprise. I sighed, standing in a flurry of skirts and hair."Please, mother, may I walk the gardens so my daydreams may win then drift for the day?I pleaded in a desperate tone. She stared for a second before the door creaked open at her will and she gestured for my to leave. I walked out, the hem of my dress gathered in my hands as I swept into the hallway and out of the house.
The gardens were thick and enchanting to my wandering psyche. I looked at the dark and black flowers, smiling at the exotic toadstools and stopping in front of the river that rushed, fast and silent. I bent, trailing my fingers under the surface and shivering at the raw powers.I sat and tilted my legs beneath my layered skirts, smoothing my fingers along the gentle silk surface.I leaned forward, breathing deeply at the clean scent of overturned soil, mixed with leaves and water. I closed my eyes, letting my arms slip deeper intothe water until I felt it soaking my shoulders. I jerked out, suddenly panting as I shook my my numb fingers and turned my attention to the sky. I became confused at the bright, fiery colors that had hazy edges.
Sunset.
The pupils of my eyes widened as I stared at the darkness creeping into the sky.I could feel someting tie istelf around me, trap my mind and myself behind my eyes. I was no longer in control, because now I was trapped inside myself as I watched my hand rip the bottom of my dress all the way to my knees. I could feel everything but could control nothing as I felt my hair brushing my shoulders and whip around my own, personal death wind. My feet barely touched the ground as I floated forward and let my eyes stay glued to the moon.
A voice.
In front of me.
Papa...
He was staring at me with fear in his eyes, feeling waves of pure and unndiluted powers slipping off and circling around me like a sheild. I bared my teeth at him, screaming in defiance. I simply turned and ran like a shadow, faster then ever sound could follow. I moved void of sound, not even sure if my feet were planted on the earth. I could feel the flimsy ties to the world, the desire to step ontothe bridge of the moonlight and float up to the crated rock. I spun in a circle, sucking in a deep breath. My senses were picking up the sound of sleeping Mortals, stealing their dreams as I turned to the sound of a racing heart.
A man.
A smile on my lips.
Fangs on my bottom cresent.
I darted forward just as he turned to run, as my hands wrapped around his shoulders and I sank my teeth into his neck.My thirst would never be quenched. I could feel his heart shudder to a stop and rot in his chest, his skin peel away in flakes as my hands tightened and turned his bones to dust. I pulled back jsut in time to see his eyes disappear, smirking as his face shattered into itself and whisked away in the winds make a balck tornado around me.
I drifted to a house, slipping through a silent, open door and moving slowly down the rooms.
I smiled down at the sleeping boy.
My lips peeled back over my fangs as I bent to his throat with my exposed teeth, turned in to an animalistic grin. My teeth sliced in to his skin with a wet sound as I drank him till he no longer had a heartbeat, watched him turn to dust and then spin in the air around me till it was nothing. I looked up,licking the blood off my fangs as I drifted toward the room of the baby girl .She couldn't have been older then 3, but my thirst had no age and she was oozing life, heat and...
My fangs rammed down in to her neck, a greedy sucking sound followed by a moan of pure starvation when I had watched her crumple. I snarled as the dust of her bones dissolved, racing out and screaming at Luna, sitting in the center of the sky and making me thirst for blood, for death, for this mindless animal inside me that I couldn't control. I then stared down at the knife that had been plunged into my gut, looking into the eyes of the father.
"You killed my babies..."he whispered, sobbing in agony for his lost children. I ripped the blade out, my skin fusing back together as my hand grabbed his neck and ground his bones beneath my grip.I watched his eyes as pain laced up his muscles till he,too, faded away.
I drifted off.
~ ~ ~
I woke up to stark sunlight steaming on my white blonde hair, blinking my eyes open and sitting straight up. My breathing was hard, my fingers fisted into my sheets as I glanced down.
My dress was ruined.
Nail marks had raked down my arm, leaving the dress mostly without sleeving or covering over my delicate shoulders. My skirts hung in limp strips to my thighs and the slit in my stomach was frayed and worn. There were no marks on my skin to prove that I had been hurt in any form or fashion.
I listened to sounds.
My mother was sobbing in her and papa's room, but I couldn't hear him comforting her like he should have been. I stood, walking quietly down the hall as I knocked softly on her door. "Mama?I asked in a quiet voice, hearing her breath hitch and her hand move. The door creaked open as she looked at me with a swollen face and puffy eyes.I floated forward, feeling pain slip over my face.I leaned forward, floating forward with a frace I hd last night that clung to me now like a shadow. "Mama? What is wrong?" I asked in a frightened voice as I looked at her and trailed my fingers on the sheets made of cotton. Her eyes caught mine and our stare held, lengthed and would've kept going had she not choked. I broke away, dropping my eyes to my hands as I wring the sheet in my fingers. "Do you remember anything from last night?" she asked in a quiet voice. I stared down and closed my eyes, tears steaming down my cheeks."I don't remember what Papa said but everything after that..." I whispered, sobbing low and long. She simply stared at me in agony, and I looked up in fear. "I wasn't in control! It was like something was handling my movements. Oh mama, I feel so awful inside!" I said, my voice thick with tears as I stared at her.
She kept eye contact, her hands trembling as she then dropped her eyes to the ground. I looked up at my mother as she smiled a little, whispering "Your cousins are here...". I looked up, my eyes wide at the thought of my male and female cousins. I stood and turned, racing down the hall and staring in astonishment at Courtney, Prince, Heaven, Tory, Greece, Martin, and Elizabeth. I then saw my Papa, my Auntie and Uncle with him in the kitchen.
The boys, Martin, Tory, Greece, and Prince glanced at me while Courtney and Heaven flung themselves into my arms. I embraced them tightly before turning to my attention to the boys and Elizabeth. All were younger then my 16 years, but Elizabeth's birthday was only 3 months behind mine. Her eyes, all different shades of blue, were locked onto mine as she read my mind.I could see her tense and shiver. The boys, Martin 13 and twin to Troy, Greece 10 and finally Prince who was now 9 and a half, stared at me with raised brows. Martin, a mind healer while Troy healed physically, both stood and bounced to me. There were careful of my exposed skin, and soon they were gone. Greece embraced me as well. Prince, however, stayed a good length away and in his chair so he could ignore my thick powers. Greece could borrow powers from touch and Prince could both sense then estimate the amounts of power from a distance. I looked down at the babies, Courtney only 6 and Heaven 5 who had not yet reach age of 8 and come into their powers.I smiled, moving forward and keeping my distance from Prince. It hurt if I got too close to him.
"Hello Elizabeth, I assume you've been well?" I asked, noticing her breath catch as she too felt my newly stenghted powers. I pulled up a chair and settled myself in next to her."Good, cousin, and you? Your powers have grown."she said, leaning close and breathing in deeply before lurching to her feet and from the room, her hand over her mouth. She could smell the souls and could see the past floating on me like a cape. I looked after her, forwning as I dropped my face into my hands."Cousin, why is your dress all ripped?" Greece asked, leaning forward with a frown and staring at my bared shoulders and calves.I felt my lips turn down as I stared at my hands and then up at him."I lost control beneath the moon last night."I said, then stood and and walked away.
No one followed.
~ ~ ~
I stared at the dress pooling in my arms, thick red silk overflowing my hands. My ruined dress lay on the bed, beckoning me back to its easy feel. I wanted to stay stay in it, without the heavy weight of skirts and even the light feel feel fo the corset. I sighed, shimming my way into the feel of the soft lace carresing my shoulders and heard Elizabeth float into the room to help lace me up. I sucked in and bit my lip as she tightened it more before making the bow. I turned, embracing her carefully before slipping on my gloves and adjusting the high neck of the dress."You never do anything with your hair..."Elizabeth sighed, playign with my straight blonde lock. I smiled, small and private as I stroked a single brown curl of hers, a chocolaty brown I'd always admired on her. "Come, Mama and Auntie have made supper." Eilzabeth said, taking her gloved hand in mine. Togerther we walked out and too the dining room.Already the boys were laughing their private jokes and conversing with my Papa and their own. Mama and Auntie were sitting across from the boys and beside Courtney and Heaven. I sat at the end and Elizabeth chose the chair next to me. I smiled, setting to my meal as I laughed with my family and settled into the feel of my easy conversations and hysterical laughter at the exotic stories. This month my cousins,Auntie, and Uncle had traveled to the Africa's from their normal European treks. I yearned to follow them, but my parents and I stayed in the Americas.
Yet, right in the center of a story a pain throbbed in my chest and I lurched to my feet in synchronization with my Papa. We satred at eached other before I screamed, running out with my skirts overwhelming my hands. I flung open the door, staring at the long drive.
The glare of fire was slow, but when I noticed it I gasped. Papa dragged me, screaming, back into the confines of the house as my mothers powers slammed the door shut. I turned, racing up the stairs and ripping off my gloves as I yanked out the strings. Elizabeth appeared and helped me into my ruined dress, then we once more raced out hand in hand. I met my parents at the back door, hearing the front one shatter into splinters. Prince began to scream and Elizabeths eyes widened. "NO!" was the shrill cry of terror that was their mingling voices but it was too late.
My eyes locked on the moon.
I was pulled forward by my mothers powers as my family raced all around me. My gracefulness was silent over old leaves and their sound irritated me. I looked behind at the advancing Mortals and then at Prince. He fell, screaming as he lay there and clutched his head. Auntie went after him but then the Mortals were on the pain. I kept on, my face a mask of stone. Elizabeth stopped Greece and the twins, looking at them and baring a smile. "Away, you three. Stick together. I'll find you one day."she whispered. The trio ran off, hand in hand into a different direction to re-start their lives. Elizabeth took my hand in her gloved one as her father and my parents alon with him turned to the growing light."Run girls. We shall try to hold them off." they whispered.
Me and Elizabeth ran, my grace making me seem to float. I ignored the screams that quickly cut off and I continued on with Elizabeth. I heard them see her while I was invisable. I sank away, leaving her to dall into the dirt and be surrounded as I floated above them all, smiling as she looked around for me frantically.
"That witch killed my family! My babies, my husband!"A woman cried out, then procedded to to sob into her hands. I smirked, watching in curiosity as a man stepped forward with a dagger in his hand.
"Did you kill last night, witch!?" the man spat, his eyes blazing and seemingly disgusted by the girl and the words he had to utter. His hands hovered on the blade he held, shaking in fury. No matter if she did the deed or not, she would be murdered.
"Help me, cousin!!!" she cried out again and again. Her screams turned hysterical as the man advanced on her. When he slit her throat, however, I laughed and floated down." You killed an innocent, who is worshipping Satan now?"I mocked, giggling as he touched my skin and watching him quickly turn to dust. When they all charged at one, I simply waved my hand and watched their shadows wrap around their wrists and hold them for me.I could feel my fangs expose as I stepped forward...
I stared down at Elizabeth, her blue dress stained crimson and her neck seeping rust. I smiled, bending and brushing her hair back. "Sorry you couldn't see your own future."I whispered, sneering as I touched her porcelain cheek and sighing as it stayed intact. I turned, walking slowly away with my feet slowly beginning to hover above the ground. Still, in my mind I couldn't escape the shivers running through my body at her screaming my name for help.

I couldn't really finish it, to be honest. It was mostly because of the spelling and grammar errors, although the angst had a part in it too.
I haven't gone all the way through, and I don't think I can bear to go all the way through, but I've already noticed things worth pointing out, so I'll do just that.
First of all, cut back on the angst. Maybe this is a personal preference, but I feel there's too much of it. It's coming off very self-pitying and not at all proactive. A little angst here and there is justified for some characters, but I feel you overdid it. Additionally, what wasn't angst in the first part of the story was an infodump. I feel as if you could do better, honestly. Try to integrate the information throughout the story - feed it to the reader in bits and pieces. For example, she could see her mother and that would be why she was thinking about how pretty her mother was. Or maybe she was looking at some family portraits in an effort to get her mind off leaving the family property, and then she began thinking about how almost all her dead ancestors were burned at the stake.
Whatever you do, I heavily recommend revising that first bit, or cutting it out altogether. Also, saying that she's the most powerful gives me a bad feeling. Most powerful + angst generally aren't a good combination, and are commonly found in Mary Sues. I'm not saying your MC is one; I'm just saying if it was a real book I'd have my guard up and probably stop reading at that point.
I'd prefer you showed us she's powerful instead of saying so, to be honest. You do give an example later on, and you could leverage that as a way of showing us how powerful she is.
You might also want to work on the voice of the piece. It's quite bland at the moment. First-person POV is difficult to do because you need to differentiate your main character from all the other main characters of the other first person POV books out there. You, as the writer, need to give the reader a compelling reason to stay with your character throughout the novel. I'm going to be sitting in this chick's head for the entire story - so why am I going to do this if she's not entertaining, or at least interesting? She has to offer something unique for me in order for me to want to stay with her, in her head.
If you can't give me a unique, original voice that makes me want to stay with her in her head, then switch to third person. Although third person POVs require a voice as well, the requirement isn't as harsh. Sure it needs to be interesting, but it doesn't have to be that strong or that compelling.
First person also imposes several constraints - if your character won't think a certain way, then there's no way that sentence will make it into your narrative. Consider that. She speaks (and thinks) in an archaic manner, and it's rather stilted. You're going to have to smooth out the flow to even make her manner of speech/thought viable for your narrative.
I can't comment much on the actual plot because I was so annoyed by the spelling and grammatical errors halfway through the second part that I couldn't continue. If you want, after you edit the grammar and spelling of this piece, you could drop me a message or something and I'll come back and give you my thoughts on the plot.

What a well written start! I noticed very few grammatical errors, and it seems like it could be a wonderfull book. I love the way you introduced the characters, and described them. you should definitely keep writing this book. if you finish it, It looks like something that I would read. I think I could get quite a bit of inspiration from it for my book : work.php?id=100936#c357015 . keep up your great work!
I know it was a short story, but I think you should turn it into a book. it could probably be published.
Oh,that would be awesome! I was thinking that as I wrote it, wondering ways of how I could lengthen this out over the first two chapters or so and then....oh is the world about to be hit by a storm! >:D
Thanks for the feedback, and I noticed the errors and will be sure to fix them!
