I couldnt feel my body from the neck down, and I closed my eyes, wishing I always felt this way. It was like being released from a physical sense of happiness.I felt free in ways that were unknown to me my entire life...free in ways I knew I'd never truely know. However, when I felt the burning along my wrists, I suddenly just couldnt handle it..
"Hold her DOWN!"someone snapped, when they felt me jerk away from the tools burning my arms.
I felt the searing pain get hotter and I let out a little moan of agony, jerking my hand back and gasping when I felt the molten hot drag down my arm, desperate to pull away.from the brands they set on my skin.
Since we were sooo far into the future, I should've known that the desperation to heal some types of disease that were slowly wiping out the human race would make everyone into animals with no sympathy for human pain or emotions. Maybe thats why they put us, yes there are more then one of me, on such drugs. Drugs that made you feel awesome...until they actually started the testing.
The burns were ways to permanently tell someone which tests I had taken..my reactions, how long, all the information....but the problem was that it meant I wasnt allowed to ever leave the damned place. I was their property, by the law of science and the Law itself. I hated it, how I was trapped in a sterile, white room smelling of bleach and masked decay. I wasnt allowed to have personal items or contact with possible former family. It was like being cut off from the world, because I didnt have a T.V. or a computer, I couldnt read newspapers or books for that matter. at least, not books that would intrest me, but I had a million or two medical encyclopedias. I was regulated at all times and called upon just as many.
Every day around the same time, no watch so I was unable to tell time, they would take me and my little sister out to be tested on the same drug we have been on for the past year. An experimental Bi-polar drug that is fine for me but is terrible on my sister. She isnt bi polar, I am. Also, she isnt really my sister, but we were the first few orphans to be sucked into this stupid testing facility so really, we only have each other.
However ,I am bipolar, and the drug works quite well on me. My mood swings have only been under control for the last year though because I am not required to be on two or more different drugs all at the same time. So normally, the entire problem goes without treatment. Katie, my sister, goes days and days with burns all over her, but they do mine all in one setting.
I think they like my pain.
That was the thing though. They may have liked the pain, but they liked the control even more. No one ever questioned the medication they were given because they thought they were doing it for the greater good, and they couldnt think past the stupid haze in their brain or pain in their bodies to think...'Hey...I cant get out of here!'.
Except me. It might of been because the drugs I was currently taking really WERE helping me, or maybe it was just the fact I was fighting so hard to stay ABOVE the haze. I was so worried...and so persistent. I didnt bother Katie with it, I knew she'd never understand no matter how hard I fought for her too...it just wouldnt work, so I didnt bothered.
It didnt take long to catch them off guard. When ready to switch medications and patients and people, things got a little loose. IT wasnt like they were flinging open the doors and saying 'RUN!' but they werent watching us with quite such an eagle eye. IT was when they were really hectic, for whatever reason a bunch of new voulnteers, and all of a sudden there were new people, wondering why the hell it was so cryptic and sterile.
I could hear the screams from down the hall as they were burned... the rush of guards to go calm and restrain the new victims..
I slipped out of my door. It was hard, really, to pry the locks away from it. I never thought of an alarm, so when the odd, high pitched ringing ran through my ears I didnt know exactly what it was.I ran, though, through the cooridors with my feet slapping hard on the luminoum. they seemed so loud to me...and I felt like absolutely everyone could hear me from a mile away. I kept running through, throwing myself down nay path that seemed relatively what I was looking for.A way out.
I heard a click, and I flew around, my eyes going wide. there was a number of people there, all standing in front of a large, door like crack in the wall. It had lioght seeping through...but....a different light. It clearly wasnt something I knew very well...but it tickled old memories...sunlight? Was that what is was called?
More people crowded up behind her, and I stared as they all pointed some odd red light at me, a gun giving off a high pitched...whining sound that was similar to what I had heard befgore. Had someone seen me escape and pointed those things at me? I didnt know, but I watched as the very first person, a woman, lowered it down and took a hesitant step forward.
I leaped forward, ready to rip her face off for some reason. Oh,right, I hadnt been branded today which meant I hadnt taken the medication. Bi-polar sure was hindering...I could never control my emotions. Then I felt something burnign through my veins and I froze, well, no I didnt. I was having a sexuire on the floor, slow and jerky movements...well, the electricty that pulsed in my veins was the cause.
"STOP! STOP IT YOU STUPID IDIOT!"someone screeched. I felt evewrything stop and stared at the ceiling in stunned silence, before turning my head and looking at the wires sticking out of my arm in confusion. I looked up at the towering bodies as someone ripped the probes out of my arm. I flinched, looking up with the wetness of tears in my eyes. someone dragged me up to my feet, but all of a sudden another alarm was blaring. Everyone looked over to her.
Katie.
she was screaming, clearly sent into some kind of pyschotic break, and I felt the tears well up in my eyes. However,it gave me a chance and I ripped myself from their arms, rushing past. there was a moment of utter confusiopn before a few broke off and went after her, the rest going to control Katie who was trying to bash in her head.into the floor. I look now, more desperate asI raced, tripping often and racing back up. I was breathing hard, gasping and unable to pull in air as I threw myself at a door.
It opened. and suddenly I felt wind wrapping itself into my hair and lifting it off my shoulders.I stared in amazment at the expanse of land in front of me, but I didnt even get a step when I felt my face connect with concrete as my body spasamed at the the feel of electricty searing through my veins. I knew this was the last time Id ever see anything, the very last time Id breath and hear my heartbeat in my ears. The last actual feeling of being alive. I was going to die, but ...I couldnt care. Maybe I had helped everyone, maybe excaped them at the cost of my wellbeing...
It didnt stop my tears.

Hey there, Cailey here for a review.
Okay, so before anything, the main problem I found here was grammar and typos. There are places where you don't have spaces, or have odd punctuation, or just awkwardly worded sentences. I'd suggest before anything else, you go back and reread this to find those mistakes.
Now, I like the idea here. Futuristic stories are always interesting and different. I also like the idea you have with the orphans being tested. That's good, and not too common.
However, I wish I could identify with the character more. It would be nice if I knew more about him, or understood his feelings more. Then I would feel more sad about his death. Also, Katie, you give some information about her, but not much. I don't need to know her background and history, but I do want to know why she's important to the guy, and why he doesn't care so much to leave her to her death. Why does he call her a sister and yet care more about his own escape? I'm not saying he shouldn't leave her, I'm just saying you should give better reasons for why he does.
You start to move in to his thoughts, but not quite enough. I'd like to know more about his thoughts and his emotions.
I think that's all, good story, good plot, okay character development.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
this story has a great idea behind it, but I would like to have a lot more details.
Was this place just for orphans, or for anyone? Why did people get taken there?
has she been planning to escape for while or did she just see her chance? Details helps the reader relate in so sort or way. I like how you kept the action going all the way through.
over all good job keep writing
I like the way the piece tries to throw us into action but the beginning lines don't really draw me in. Everything about the writing style just needs a slight perk; more unique and different wording. Sometimes it was a little dramatic, but that type isn't my preference anyway, so don't mind me on that. If you need any help with this, please feel free to contact me!
Proofread this, or have someone proofread it. It was verging on incoherent in places.
And once you do that, reevaluate your plot. It was equally nonsensical. When does this take place? Where? Who are the characters I should know about? Why was your narrator able to escape so effortlessly all of a sudden after, like, years there? Why did you switch to third person in the last paragraph and who is "she?" And most importantly: what are you trying to say with this piece? How can you show this through plot?
And once you do that and have a better understanding of your plot, find a replacement for that meaningless last line. Why are they crying? Who is crying? Why does the story end there?
Kindly clean it up and I might give you a more thorough review.
