Christmas Day

Christmas Day

Presents under the tree

But they aren’t for me

Then it hits me like

A punch in the face

Anguished, I cry

As I remember

Everything

The car

The lights

So bright

The bruises

The pain

So intense

Life changed

Life gone

In a minute

Mom has gone

Dad has gone

I should be gone

I sink to the ground

And I understand

I am alone

It’s all my fault.

This is gorgeous! I liked the rhythm and my favorite lines were,

"Life changed

Life gone

In a minute"

However, maybe take the title away since the title is already displayed at the top of the page? It seems kinda unnecessary to me, no? Also, consider adding comma's after some of your lines, especially after this one,

"Life gone

In a minute"

or the line above it, since it seems kinda unclear to me whether you're trying to say, is life is gone or the person's parents gone in a minute. Depending on how you read it and without the commas it can be taken either way.

Please keep writing and have a wonderful day!

hi,
the intent of the poem is quite deep, provoking intense emotion of someone who had lost his / her dear ones by a catastrophic accident, gathering all gives a bit pain full view of your thought. simply i loved it, it's quite straight forward, simple and easy to understand the intent.
again, looking back where you used "it's all my fault" after "i am alone", it gives a bit suspense and a question of "why". except it the poem is full of emotions and beautiful too.
keep writing good things and all the best.

Woah. I really like this poem, its short and simple, but the meaning just hits you like a hurricane. I can relate to this poem in a way, but I won't bore you with my life. I think you did an amazing thing with this poem, and it definitely deserves far more likes. I think this poem is INCREDIBLE and I hope you'll write many more. Well, anyways! Great poem, I hope you have a good life.

Wow, thats an awesone poem. I like how much of a story it is, i almost want to hear more about this character. I must ask, does this come from a personal experience? (You dont have to answer, just curious) Anyways, keep it up, hope to hear more in the future.

Wow...
Such a powerful poem.
At first, you think that this is going to be a poem about how lovely Christmas is, and how the snow falls to the ground, etc., etc., so I was really surprised, and quite shocked actually that it wasn't that at all. It was all about something really sad. It was so sad that Her mother and father died in a car crash, and she blames herself. But we all know she could not have done anything whatsoever. It's so sad.
But it is a fantastic poem. Beautiful.

Hello again! I reviewed the first version, so I thought I'd stop by again. Apologies if I repeat anything I said in the previous review, I don't quite remember what I said, but I see you made quite a few edits.

I'd recommend a couple changes. "A punch to the face" is used language (meaning people use this phrase quite a bit, and it's hard to make it not sound cliche) - and has a whole different host of imagery and emotional connotations than a car-crash. I'd go for a different image or metaphor there. For the most part the line breaks helped with the "drama" of the piece, but it does make the piece quite a bit more stilted as far as the flow goes. I might combine some of the lines that don't "need" to be as dramatic. To give the piece more variety. Just like you wouldn't want to read a prose chapter that's only made of short choppy sentences, because. it. begins. to. feel. very. robotic. to pause. each time. you see. a line break. (see what I did there? that's the effect you get).

I also think putting "so intense" on it's own line is too over-the top dramatic. And "intense" is one of those empty adjectives that almost needs a modifier to be meaningful. What about the pain is intense? Is it sharp? Is it red? Where is it? Is it emotional or physical pain? Explaining these sorts of details will give your reader more to connect to than just "so intense".

I think it's intriguing that the poem ends with "all my fault" and I want to know more about why the speaker thinks this from a narrative point. It's interesting, but I feel a bit left hanging and sad after reading it. So I guess the poem does leave an emotional impression.

It might also be interesting to circle back to something christmas themed at the end of the poem too, in order to tie in the beginning of it.

That's all I had,

it's a nice, short narrative poem, that gives just a taste of a tragic story. I enjoyed seeing what revisions you brought to the first version, please let me know if you had any questions about my review.
