“Ugly” Christmas gift

*This story is under my folder titled “Jester and fairy”. Gacha Club character designs are under this forum: https://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=116005&start=1005. Enjoy and Scary Creepmas!*

Karissa sat on the couch, awaiting her Christmas gift. Dad was sitting on the couch across, Mom each handed Karissa and Kix a colorful wrapped box.

“These came all the way from the North Pole!” Mom said happily.

Karissa tore through the wrapping paper, heart racing with joy. If it was from the North Pole, then it would be something beautiful. She always got beautiful gifts on Christmas, so there was no doubt that-

A doll. A yarn fairy doll with a yellow dress and button eyes. It wasn’t even porcelain. It was just a stupid doll, just like the hundred other dolls that Karissa owned.

Well, she didn’t exactly count her dolls, but she knew that she had quite the abundance of them.

“A doll?! I wanted a necklace!” Karissa cried out, throwing the box aside.

Mom rushed by her side, Dad put his coffee down on the table and sat next to her.

They were saying words of comfort, but Karissa wasn’t listening. All she thought was:

Why didn’t Santa get me a necklace? Aren’t I supposed to get necklaces? Don’t I get jewelry every year? Why did I get a doll? Why did I get a doll? Why? Why? Why? Why?Why? Why? whywhywhy?

Maybe the other gifts would be better.

Hey creeper! Let's rescue this Christmas story from the Green Room!

She always got beautiful gifts on Christmas, so there was no doubt that-

Something tells me Karissa is a tad bit spoiled.

A doll. A yarn fairy doll with a yellow dress and button eyes. It wasn’t even porcelain. It was just a stupid doll, just like the hundred other dolls that Karissa owned.

I like how the very plain descriptions here reflect the lack of interest she has in the doll. And, pardon, did you say hundred other dolls?? She is perhaps a bit more than spoiled, methinks xD

Well, she didn’t exactly count her dolls, but she knew that she had quite the abundance of them.

Haha, love the voice here.

Maybe the other gifts would be better.

This made me laugh out loud. She's throwing this whole fit about not getting a necklace when there are OTHER GIFTS waiting for her to open?? That could very well be necklaces??

You packed so much personality into this little story. I could see this being the 10 second introduction of a dislikable character in a movie, and those 10 seconds are so rich and extreme that it's all we as the audience need to see to get a good read on who this character is.

Great job!

thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this lol.

Whoa. I can see the contrast between Karissa, and Ysabelle from a different short story. Ysabelle is sweet, and makes sure to show even a little bit of appreciation for the gift she got, even if she didn't want it, while on the other hand, Karissa is a spoiled brat and throws a fit because she got something she didn't want one bit. I can't help but kind of hate Karissa a little bit :')

Yeah she%u2019s gonna be a bad guy later in the story.

Thx for reading!
