I see it! The light is getting closer! All I have to do is keep running and-

Against my own will, I stop. My legs feel heavier than the Halloween decorations I was throwing at her and now I don’t have any of those.
Mariah is hovering above me, a red lipstick smile on her face. Her brown eyes shine with kindness, but there is a sharp, icy edge to them.
“I need more backup dancers for my performance!” Mariah beams.
From behind the trees, bright-eyed, Christmas-color wearing humans step out. They look human, but their skin is too clean and shiny, their teeth too perfect and white. They skip in a zombie-like fashion when they walk, as if they are trying too hard to seem alive.
“Backup…dancers? I don’t want to be your backup dancer! I’ll never work for you!” I cry out. Tears spill down my eyes, I wish that I could run.
Mariah floats down to the ground, facing me, extending her hand out to my chin.
“Oh, you poor, poor soul…it’s not your choice. Christmas is my time to shine and if I want a backup dancer, I get a backup dancer. I always get what I want and what I want is…I think you know the rest.”
With a snap of her free hand, the backup dancers rush towards me, their hands-claws-reaching out towards me and-

I tie the red bow on my dress to fit perfectly. Me and the other dancers are wearing green elf costumes with red belts for the men and red bows for the women. My elf dress is very cute, but not as cute as Our Queen Mariah’s short Santa dress. She wears either a Santa jumpsuit or Santa dress, but it must be Santa themed!
The icy palace is starting to thaw, which means that soon, we will hear Her voice calling out to us and then, it will be time for us to seek out backup dancers. So far, there are only 276 backup dancers, me included. Mariah wants 587. Once She has that amount of backup dancers, World Domination can begin. Nobody knows why She wants that many dancers, but we all know that it is wise not to ask Her any questions. The last dancer who did…well…
Anyway, 2026 is supposed to be the year of Christmas Cheer. We will obtain more dancers than we will expect, all because Our Leader Mariah has prophesied it.
I, for one, am excited! This, this is what I live for! This is my purpose!

I like how despite Mariah is supposed to look all scary and stuff based on how the narrator is describing her, she still maintains that innocent, young like flair. I really appreciated that. The most normal looking people can actually be villains underneath.

She needs more backup dancers? Girl, aren't you like a multi-millionaire celebrity? HIRE your own backup dancers, I'm sure they'll be like... uh... 30 dollars, I guess?

I have a few questions. First of all, is she keeping them hostage until next Christmas comes? Do they eat? Do they sleep? Do they get to go home? And why hasn't the general public known about this? I mean, if I was being kept hostage against my will, I'd probably put an SOS sign in the snow.
The only thing I feel like should be added, is the little girl, like in the original video. I wonder what happens to her.

Hiya! another great work, and I'm glad to see this story continue! firstly, NOO, our narrator has fallen to the dark side, serving Mariah Carey, all of their earlier resentment and defiance gone. I find the entitlement of Mariah fitting for an evil deity, and especially the way that, while she can control the dancers, She cannot get them to act on their own will, instead having to puppet them around, which makes them seem lifeless. I can't find any constructive criticism, so good job on that! all in all, great work! keep writing, and merry christmas if you celebrate!
