Idenity of my Independence

PreviousNext

I've watched them smile, swoon, laugh, cry, rant, gossip. You name it, there's a high chance I've witnessed it. All the time looking on wondering, why?

They become so involved, so immersed in this other person. I don't understand this power. Yeah, I've crushed here and there. Never to the point where their name was the first topic of a conversation.

I've grown. I see the picture of couples differently. For the most part it's negative. Could be just because I'm a naturally negative person. Or it could be that I understand that I am an independent woman. Not entirely sure. What I do know is that I don't NEED or even WANT another person all up in my space. Getting mad when I have nothing to say, accusing me of wrong doing when there is no warrant. Ignoring, shaming and even pacifying. I need none of that.

I take charge of me, I enlighten me, I look to me for strength and endurance, I look to me for honesty. I need only ME.

Independence is not a weakness. So when someone asks, "Why aren't you in a relationship?"

My response. "I'm better off on my own."

Hmm, short but interesting. Is this your, the writer's, thoughts or are you projecting?

The way you write this, in bite-sized phrases, really makes things come across as if you're exposing your own thoughts. No over-rationalization or anything of the sort, just "this is how I see it" and, in a piece like this, I think that's the most important thing. Even with that aside, it's still well written, getting the point across in quite the concise form.

And it does stand as different point of view, compared to how standard the other has become. Many times folks are shunned for remaining single but, really, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with that.
Be with someone if that's what you want, or don't. We've reached the point in society where that's no one else's business.

Regardless of personal opinions, only the individual has a say on matters pertaining to his or her own life.

I greatly appreciate your opinion. : )

Wow, this was actually very fascinating to read. I always love to see other peoples points of view, whether I agree or disagree doesn't really matter to me. On the topic of writing, this is well written. It flows well and I like the variation of bigger blocks of text then smaller bolder lines, it makes a nice combination. Topic wise, it's very fascinating to me. I can't really look to myself for all the things you mention here, I have to almost completely rely on others sometimes when I don't even have enough strength floor will to move. To be entirely honest, if you are writing this as a true statement about yourself, I can admire you for being able to rely so fully upon yourself.
Overall know enjoyed reading this and the topic was fascinating. Thanks for the reading material and thoughts to ponder, happy writing ~

I greatly appreciate your opinion. : )
