I will come,
Do my review till done.
In a min or six
I will turn off the candle wicks.
To keep 'em for another day,
And grab a cup of tea and whey

Hi Anne! I'm so happy you wrote this poem and managed to post it. I hope you had a happy review day!
I see that alliyah and Hannah have already pointed out the same suggestions I was going to make, so this will be a short review. I think your poem was lovely, warm and cosy, and I think it's such a nice idea to write a poem about review day! I hope other people will do this too.
I wish the poem was a little bit longer. It's still great as a short and sweet, one-stanza piece, but I wonder what else you could have mentioned to conjure up more of a cosy feeling? Perhaps a flurry of typing, emerging in a story, the writing became alive, that sort of thing?
I do hope you post some more in the future!
Hi anne! So good to see you post your very first work on YWS - congratulations on doing so, I hope you really enjoy this site. I'll be writing you a review with one of my favorite methods called the "S'More Review Method" it's easy to use and anyone can use this same format.
First Graham Cracker - First Impressions / Interpretation
Well I love that it appears that this poem is inspired by YWS and review day! That's a lot of fun, and certainly timely! The poem is easy to follow, it is direct, and concise and has a little bit of rhyme too.
To me the poem was about someone sort of taking their time to write a review and realizing it might take a little time, or maybe a little longer, but at the end of the day they'll save their energy (their candle wicks), reward themselves with a little tea and enjoy the day.
Chocolate - What I Love Best about the Work
What I loved best about the work is probably the usage of rhyme as I don't see a lot of rhyme scheme poems here, and all the rhymes were nicely done! The candle-wicks and tea made the poem feel gentle and a little classic, as most of us probably don't write our reviews by candle-light! This made me wonder if the candles were a metaphor for energy or time running out.
Marshamallow - What Could be Improved / Suggestions
I thought that shortening the lines "in a min or six" rather than "in a minute or six" may not have been necessary? I was curious if you did that for pacing or some other reason. If you would expand this poem I'd love to hear a little more about the emotions of review day and maybe a little more imagery too (senses like sight, sound, touch, smell) - I think that the image of candle wicks is very poetic and could certainly be a fruitful subject for a poem in the future as well! I agree with Hannah that the overall tone was certainly cozy and that's a great aspect to highlight and expand upon! (Especially because some folks get a little overly stressed about Reviewing, it was refreshing to see a cozy / gentle reflection about it!)
Graham Cracker - Closing thoughts
Overall, this was a cute and direct poem! I look forward to reading more of your poetry in the future! Poetry is such a great way to share your perspective, I was happy to hear a bit more of yours on reviewing!
All the best of luck as you continue to explore this site, I hope you love it here!

Hello! Nice to meet you! Congratulations on your first work posted here on the site! Are you usually a poet versus a story writer? Or did YWS inspire you to try a poem? That is how I became a poet, actually. I tried my first poetry here on the site and never stopped writing since!
The overall tone of this poem feels very cozy to me. The ideas of candle light, tea, and whey (even the idea that you have enough time and space to say maybe in six minutes, maybe more, we aren't on a schedule here) all give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
The biggest moment that catches me is in the second line. I would feel more comfortable if it said "do my review till it's done". Is there a reason you left out "it's"?
Also, how do you feel about how the front of the poem has short lines and the back of the poem has longer lines? For me, I like that it makes me feel like I am melting into relaxation where I can take more time reading a line. That was a cool effect.
Please let me know if you have any questions about my review. Have a wonderful day!
