My grief is a matter of utmost discretion;
Perceived in the quiet purrs of the kitty,
Unaware that she occupies my lap
For one last time- the prison of my embrace;
Before I leave for distant shores and old skylines.
My grief is an impasse;
Engraved in the hard-set ways of my hometown.
Only a fool returns, undoing her years of escape.
But my aching limbs can’t climb for the skies anymore.
So I let my roots engulf me in a makeshift cocoon,
Giving privacy to my loss and sorrows.
My grief flickers through the restlessness
Of my thoughts and actions, now and then;
As he passes through my consciousness unhindered.
The love that I shall speak of no more,
For he claimed that it was nothing but make-believe.
So I bury the memories alongside my truth
In the garden that once grew spring.
My griefs are locked within a rusted iron vault
That I shall never dare open again;
For nothing comes out of banging your fists
Against closed treasure chests and empty yearnings.
This dull anguish settles into bleak acceptance.
So I misplace the key for good this time.

This poem beautifully captures the quiet, personal nature of grief. The imagery of the kitty sitting on the speaker's lap for the last time is touching and poignant. The metaphor of grief as an impasse and the hard-set ways of the hometown adds depth to the feeling of being trapped by one's sorrow.
The poem feels very reflective and introspective, fitting well with themes of loss and longing. The line about letting roots engulf the speaker in a makeshift cocoon effectively conveys a sense of giving in to grief and finding solace in familiar surroundings.
The flickering grief through thoughts and actions and the buried memories in a once-blooming garden paint a vivid picture of internal struggle and acceptance. The final image of a rusted iron vault holding the speaker's grief, with the decision to misplace the key for good, encapsulates a resigned acceptance of the pain.
Nice job and keep it up!
Thank you for this review.

Beautiful poem written by the author.

This makes me remember of the days when I used to cry because of the gloom that shadowed my life. During the tough days, I tried to find the 'happy things' which occurred in my life, but sadly I could not find any happiness. I later realized that it was just my misconception because the happy things did occur in my life. But the gloom always used to overpower my mind and my mind could not think about the 'happy things' and only focused on the sadness which I used to face.
But then someone appeared in my life, I would say they were magical, and there I made new friends, my friends came to rescue me from the 'trap of gloom' which I was falling into day by day.
They showed me the happiness which I was looking for, 'the happiness of being enough for yourself'.
I wish that 'someone' also appears in your life.
And also, it is up to you but I would advice you 'misplace the key', as we should not touch the past wounds because the past is now is gone and I suggest you to focus on the present and the future.
The author expressed all the emotions and thoughts into this wonderful piece of poetry very well.
Well done.
Keep it up.
Waiting for more.
Thank you.
Thank you for the review.
Hello! Ley here to review this awesome piece for you! I'm using my fantasy themed review method today. I hope this review helps in more ways than one. Let's get into it!
A Journey Begins:
To start, I just wanted to say this poem was absolutely beautiful! The formatting kind of looks like stairs, and to me, that could represent a multitude of things, like stepping down from something or slowly losing oneself, and I found it such an interesting aspect to include in this poem. Let's get into the specifics, shall we?
Glimmers in The Gloom:
I loved so many things about this poem. From your word choice, to your comparisons, to the last line when you throw away the key. That part sent shivers down my spine (in a good way). I know that this poem is mostly about grief, but I also noticed hints of loss and isolation in this poem. I think bringing these themes into a poem of this caliber really amplified it, and I applaud you for that! I especially loved this line:
I found this so... ethereal sounding. The garden representing your life, and spring representing when you were once happy. That the garden may now be withered and dry. I found this line extremely moving. Amazing job!
Magic Upgrades:
I honestly do not have any recommendations for this poem. Everything flowed well, the formatting was awesome, and I don't think this needs anything else. Amazing job!
The Final Enchantment:
Overall, this was such an amazing poem. I hope to read more of your work soon, happy writing! <3
Thank you for taking time to read this review! I hope you have a lovely day <3
